my first post on this great forum
i am looking for some advise
i have just got me a sony Xperia X10 black from orange uk
it has R2BA020 and 1.6 firmware
what version firmware is the best? is the latest the best one? ie less buggy faster etc?
as its on orange do i need to convert to sony firmware to be able to update to the latest version?
root access to the phone which firmware is the best for this? to get access also less buggy?
any advise or tuto's you could point me to?
ive had a look around the forum and will continue to do so but i am new to this phone and don't want to update to wrong one if its similer to my friends iphone with differant firware versions not getting root acces. any help you can give me i will appreciate.

well, for most people, the newest firmware is the best. But we cant tell you what would be best for you.

Sorry for super newbie question: I just want to update an HTC Magic SAPP100 to a new version of Android (2.x), and all I find when I google is people asking how to do unlock it (I don´t want to unlock it, it is already unlocked, I guess what I want is to root it), or people that have bricked their phone, or guides for Sapphire models that seem not to be the same as mine (32A and 32B are always mentioned, but mine in SAPP100).
Any ideas to enlighten me? Thanks very much.

Hey everybody. I'm sorry to post this as I know it will annoy people but I really need to get back to the stock RUU and I just cannot find it. I live in the uk and my operater is o2. My baseband number is 11.55_3504_00p_11.19.3504.29_2 please help me get the latest one, I downloaded one and it was only android version 2.3.3 and the market was old as well and it would never find any updates when I checked. Please help a noob find the right one because I cannot find it .

[Q] how to root and install custom rom on htc chacha

Hello everybody. I am new to android, recently i got htc chacha and it does not support arabic menu. i found the arabic rom for htc chacha, but i dont know how to install it. i have been searching the internet but everytime i know sonmething i got blocked by another thing.
the phone is S-ON
the version is 2.3.3
the main problem i am facing is howw to root the phone so it becomes S-OFF( i dont know if what i am saying is right) but in general i need to root and install this custom rom.
any help pleasee. I am out of ideas and i almost read every single topic in almost every single forum

You don't need S-OFF to root the phone and install custom ROM.

the ask me to update the ROM to the version listed in the table first, which one i should choose? the one that have the same romn version as mine (i.e. 1.23.502.1) if so, the carrier for this rom as stated in the table is cingular usa and it is not the carrier in my country. what should i do. thank yuouu
