I'm running GingerBeast right now and everyone once in a while(once or twice a day, some days it won't happen) when I hit the power button to get to the unlock screen, I'll see the softkeys light up for a second and then my phone turns off. I have to hit the power button again for my phone to boot up. I was using CM7 before I changed to GingerBeast and the same thing was happening. I've also tried different radios with and there was no difference.
Could this be a bad root? Should I delete everything and try again or what?

Wont help I get the same thing sometimes. Its weird, I think its a sequence that causes It. I noticed the last two times I was walking and holding it and swinging my arms. It vibrates sometimes when I do this and if I hit the wake button right after its reboots.

Have you tried any other ROMs before?
this happens to me sometimes on MIUI
Did any of u restore any system data or any apps + data using TiBu after u flashed whatever ROM u r using?
I would recommend flashing ROM CLEAN from scratch, and not restoring ANY info using TiBu, and using it for a day and see if the issue resurfaces.
yes diablo has a good point. Also, what is your setcpu set to on boot? This could cause instability if you clock high on boot.

On my girlfriends phone I have noticed this too. Always thought it had something to do with the undervolt and waking up.

The Tom doesn't matter. I have cleaned the mofo completely.. installed stock....no tibu... it's the phone.

Lol..yeah... phone + at a music show = retarded corrections.
I've noticed it almost never happens when I'm just sitting at home. I think it usually happens after I pull it out of my pocket and hit the wake button
this happened to me when i had a lockscreen widget installed i uninstalled and its fine now. dont know if your using a lockscreen widget or not but thats what was screwing mine up
Another bug to report with the new OTA. If you missed the first one, here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226052
Multiple users have told me that they have this problem also. I thought it was just me at first, but since this seems to be an issue for others, attention should be drawn to it.
I have a phone-lock issue with the phone now after the update.
Basically, the phone doesn't register my first power button click to put the phone on standby.
I have to hit it twice for the phone to drop to standby.
At first, I thought it was a hardware issue, but I never have a problem waking the phone from standby. Therefore, it's not the power button. It's a problem with the update.
Anybody else have this? Any workarounds? Solutions?
I'm actually having the opposite problem. I sometimes have to press the power button twice to wake it up. And my battery life is so much worse now, other than that, I haven't noticed anything else for now.

Can't confirm haven't received my ota in Asian region yet.

I do not have any such problem on mine. It's the European/International version, though.
I seem to be having this issue now. Never noticed it prior to the update. First few times I thought I missed the button or something.
I have the same as problem as well which sucks as I also have the phone bug. Does flashing a new rom fix this?

Have you tried doing a master reset- with the new update? It might clear out some of the bugs? I did the update today and I don't have those problems.

I have not tried that yet. I'll probably give it a try. Thanks for the advice!

I'm having the same exact problem. I sometimes have to hit the button twice to unlock and my battery life is getting worse than what it was..
I'm having the same problem with lock and unlock.. takes sometimes 2-3 clicks for it to process.

I am definitely having that problem as well, looking for a way to just turn off screenshots until needed.
I´ve no problem at all after upgrade. My sensation was untouched before OTA message came and it was installed smooth and fast.
Battery usage are not known yet but after 6 hours it´s act like normal !!
None of mentioned issues on my Sensation after OTA (Central Europe - stock ROM, never rooted/S-OFFed/whatever).
To be perfectly honest, my Sensation went only better in all ways
I am having this same issue- but after the second time i hit the power button to wake up, the phone reboots. Is anyone else experiencing this??
Its dont it like 2-3 times today....happened a couple of other times since i updated a week ago.
Not had these issues at all. Did with my old Desire funnily enough, though
It has something to do with the home screen capture feature I'm pretty sure. If you press home in between the lock button taps it'll keep on takin shots. Random

I have got the same problem, i have to press the power button twice to put it into standby and also sometimes i have to press it twice to turn the screen on, it's wierd, i thought it may have been a hardware problem, but it clearly isn't if quite a few of us have it? Also I am running a custom ROM, Android Revolution HD 3.0.0, which is based on the WWE 2.3.4 rom.

Yup, if you try taking a screen shot with home and power button, then try to put it into standby, the phone definitely does show this problem.
I have the same problem. Power button is very buggy and doesn't turn the screen on every time and likewise, doesn't turn it off everytime. Screen comes on by itself at random times and sometimes when you press the power button, screen goes off but comes back on immediately.
just a question, is this a problem with sensation owners who went for the OTA from stock or those from S-OFF then installed the OTA, etc.?
no asian OTA as of the moment, i hope HTC pulls out a fix right away
So I'm going to be buying this phone as a short term, and "cheap" replacement for my current phone. I'm looking around on ebay, and I was able to find one for $140, however it says the phone will not go into sleep mode.
I'm assuming this is just a bug in the software, but I could be wrong. The guy says it turns off and on just fine, so I don't think its the power button, but, again, I could be wrong.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, will flashing a new ROM fix it?
Thanks for your help!
I'm not sure what sleep mode means but if he says the hardware button works fine than Go for it lol. I had that issue and just reflashing cm7 did it for me

I'm assuming he means Screen Lock where the screen is off.
Yeah, I figured flashing CM7 or something would fix it, but I figured I'd ask before I got it and realized nothing would fix it.

If worse came to worse there's probably a way to remap the power function to a different key

So I have titanium backup run at 5am and have it restart my phone when it is done. So I wake up and the phone is on with just a black screen that's lit up my homescreen/lockscreen doesn't show up but if I hit the power button twice the lockscreen shows, any ideas? Its not a big hassle it just has be bugging me to ask lol. It only happens when I restart the phone and the power cord is plugged in. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this problem? It has doing it since stock rom and does it on every update I have so I know its not the rom sorry I didn't do research if this has been a problem before I am on xda app and searching doesn't really work to well :/ but just any ideas would be nice

So, I thought I knew what I was doing, but apparently not.
I tried flashing XYLON.
Now, the phone gets stuck on the boot animation. I've been trying to get it to work for the last 12 hours. It either gets stuck on the boot animation, or on the "Android is updating" screen. I can't even get into the hboot to boot into recovery.
Can anyone recommend a course of action to bring my phone back to life?

I'm still on 1.09
Its s-off.
I haven't touched my hboot since i rooted my phone.
Hold down power until lights flash 7-10 times. Simulates a battery pull. Then push volume down and press and hold power button for 4-5 seconds, then release power while still holding volume down.. should go to bootloader. Sounds like your not timing it correctly

Well, I'm still trying that. I've done it the way you''ve mentioned it here as well. Trying it again now. I've never had problems getting into my hboot before. :S
Something just seems wrong.
Once I get back home, I'm gonna pull the phone apart and check if something's wrong with my volume button. The Vol. up stopped working, but vol down was working just fine....
Let it boot as far as it will go and see if adb will recognize it. If it does adb reboot bootloader

I've tried that.I kept it for an hour, let it go as far ahead as it would. ADB does not see it.
I agree, if you cant get Into bootloader its a timing issue. Try holding the power buttons until the capacitive buttons blink 7 times or so, when the screen goes black let go of power and press and hold only volume until the bootloader comes up. This way is almost impossible to miss.

Seem like I've been missing the timing all day. :/ I'm gonna check my hardware this evening... lets see what happens after that.
I have heard of a case where someone had to physically disconnect the battery before they could get into bootloader but that's a *****. Since you're s-off you could try RUUing.

RUU doesn't work. I can't get RUU to detect my phone. It doesn't boot up. It's stuck at the boot logo. And even if I leave it connected to ruu while i'm trying to reboot, or trying to get into hboot, it still doesn't detect my phone.
Well... You could let the battery drain and then charge it for about 10 mins then unplug from power and press and hold power and volume.

Right back into the boot screen. I think I'mg onna give up on this now. :/
Sorry man, I'm out of ideas as well. Taking apart the phone and pulling the battery for a bit is the last option.
I encourage you to keep trying the traditional way before taking the phone apart.

Well, I've already pulled my phone apart once to replace my broken screen. Which is why I'm suspecting it could be a hardware problem. Somehow. *sigh*
And I'm in. Finally.
I let the phone's battery drain completely. I pulled apart the phone, and pressed down on the volume + power pins/buttons directly. And I got into the boot loader.
I'm currently restoring the backup of the rooted stock rom I always keep on my phone storage.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and support.
I just saved myself a whole lot of money. ^_^
I think you can help me maybe but I'm not so experienced

So my situation is similar but my htc inc s is brand new from ebay china seller ( I live in Greece), is s-on, never messed up with, never rooted all factory. It worked great for few days and after the first OTA update I cant get into hboot, adb doesn't see the phone, always the updating symbol on screen.Tried battery pull, volume down + power in all the possible timing and combinations but yet nothing! Also I tried battery pull, volume up + power it vibrates 3 times orange lid is on and black screen (on the forums is said that this is diagnostic menu). So I think maybe this phone is a refurb and not new since the answer from HTC global support (after sending my IMEI and S/N) is that this phone is for Indonesian market and that its warranty expired year ago! Can you help me in some way guys...

Sorry, I am not familiar with your phone. If it is completely stock, you may be able to RUU while int he diagnostic menu or during updating screen. Best to post in the Htc inc s forums.
