[Q] Will a factory reset erase my SIM unlock? - HTC Sensation

Hello, just bought a T mobile Sensation 4G from ebay, it came SIM unlocked.
I really need this phone to stay unlocked, so my question is, is it safe to perform a factory reset without losing my unlock? Is there even anything that can possibly remove my unlock? such as rooting and installing custom roms.
Any answers are highly appreciated.

Sim unlock has nothing to do with rom or factory reset so you should be good

[Q] Sim card unlock with rom changing

Hey,
If i change the rom of a xperia does the sim lock (only working from 1 operator) will it dissapear? What can I do to remove sim lock on the phone?
Changing your ROM will not simunlock your phone. Your carrier may give you the code to do it, or their are websites that you pay for an unlock code. Most of them are fairly cheap ($5-$10). The most expensive one I have seen is for the Note which is $25. That being said, once you are sim unlocked, changing a ROM or doing a factory reset will not re-lock the Sim.
Can unlocked s4 be updated to kitkat without re-locking?

Hi.. I have a 4.3 running, unlocked i377m(Canadian s4). It was not factory unlocked. I made it unlocked in a small store. It was rooted when i got it back. Is there any way to update it by flashing to kitkat? I cant get any updates from about phone menu. It says its phone is modded and can't update.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance

[Q] will rooting my CDMA reset the device

so, i have an HTC desire CDMA...which was bough from abroad. i am using that phone in my network with the code.
now, here's the thing >> i have lost the code ( dont know when) and now i want to root the device.
is there any step in the rooting process that would make the device factory reset itself or something, that could make the device locked again?
if its safe for me to root the device without loosing the code then i'll go through with this procedure:
http://androidforums.com/desire-s-all-things-root/438830-guide-how-root-desire-s.html
if any other alternative method is recommended then please give link to the respective web page
thank you!
There is no Desire S CDMA, as far as I know. You're talking about the regular HTC Desire, which is a completely different phone, and has its own forum.
If the question is for HTC Desire S(GSM). What is the best answer?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
The question "as is" doesn't apply to a GSM phone.
GSM phones can have SIM lock, and can be SIM-unlocked. SIM unlock can be "soft" (fooling the phone's SW to believe it is unlocked) or "hard" (actually switching the SIM lock status). "Soft" unlocks are vulnerable to factory resets and ROM changes. "Hard" unlocks stay forever.
SIM unlock by unlock code is "hard" unlock. Also, SIM unlock by XTC Clip or special software that unfortunately doesn't run on Desire S (gfree, for example), is also "hard" unlock. Very few phones I know of have "soft" unlock, I know only one - Motorola Defy. Rest have "hard" unlock methods or no methods at all.
About wiping, specifically for Desire S: there are several methods of rooting, but all of them will wipe the phone at some point, unless you're on a very old build and rooting using Revolutionary. HTCDev unlock will perform factory reset, and downgrading will wipe the phone during the procedure.
thankyou jack! that helps a lot!

[Q] Clarification on Region Unlocking G-920i

I purchased a Factory Unlocked G-920i (in US) and want to use it in Europe. Is it correct that I just need to make a 5 minute call in US with a US SIM card and it will be region unlocked permenantly? Will the phone "relock" if I do a factory reset or install a new ROM? If so, is there any way around this?
Thanks!

Carrier unlocking question

Hi guys,
I need some clarification re: carrier unlocking and how it works.
I recently purchased a carrier unlocked G920T, and I was going to start messing with custom roms/kernels and other goodies. My question is: Will the phone revert back to being carrier locked if I do a factory reset or if I unlock the bootloader and flash custom roms?
I'm not a T-Mobile user, so I can't get another unlock code from them.
Thanks!!

Once device is unlocked, it'll stay unlocked.

H83020i_un ROM and factory data reset

Im wondering Is it safe to perform factory data reset with H83020i_un ROM, or more precisely, can that result with sim lock on T-Mobile ?
H83020i_un ROM is H830 variant that was sold through Ebay as unlocked phone, but it is actually unlocked by modified ROM, and any update or change of ROM would lock it.
