all i need is a direction. i checked the guide how to debrand, root etc. but i have kind mixed feelings. so before the procedure i would love to be sure.
Can someone be so nice and post me link to the stock ROM + Kernel that i can flash for Europe? that will be official and it will work.
Can you just show me the right direcion what guide should i use...i have missed the lead after reading about 20 pages.
Thanks a lot and i hope someone will be so kind and help me out.

Hey pros and newbs, like me lol, I need help rooting, flashing ... etc for my LG g2x. Yes I chose it over the Samsung Galaxy S2 because it looked and felt smoother when i handled both. But any way, can anyone create a step by step tutorial instead of clicking all these links and sending me to different pages and just keep it on one page? I really want to learn! I tried going about it but just worried about bricking my phone. If any one could help it would mean alot to me, the present and future hackers for android! 8)
Go spend some time reading in the development thread, There are already many thread with lots of information.
Start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049154
Please READ MORE. People are not as willing to help someone who doesn't not seem like they have read the basics. Also slow down with all the "I'm a NEWB stuff". You are most likely to get flammed. Try to seem more mature and you'll get better results and answers.
Assuming you get G2x with Gingerbread you would...
1. NVFlash ClockworkMod (Do this right & and it will be hard to brick)
2. Flash Rooted Rom of your choice. (Gain root access)
To answer your most likely next few question:
WeaponX for 2.3.3
CM7, EagleBlood, MIUI for 2.3.7
(Personal preferences)
What OS u have on your computer? Also go see what version of android u have. 2.2.2 or 2.3.3. After y answer those questions ill walk you through it.

Hi everyone. I just got stuck in the moto bootloop. in a panic i downloaded the first sbf i could find for defy+. now it is the chinese rom. no market, no blur, anything like that. can't get the market to work. I need to find the stock Australian Telstra sbf or any sbf that is close enough that will run as normal with market etc. If anyone could help I would greatly appretiate it. Desperate as this is a mate's phone and I was attempting to help him out with getting rid of all the bloatware on it.

here you go mate: http://www.and-developers.com/sbf:defy
hope this will help you find what you need...if you don't mind losing ability to go back to froyo or bright buttons you might also consider flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385868 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839
cheers
If you want less blur apps try blur based rom's like motoginger II:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389726
If you want NO blur go for CM7
You can always use baseband switcher if data doesn't work.
But why post this in dev section???
THANK YOU!
Hi there thanks so much for the quick replies. Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I panicked and thought this would be the best place as it has to do with roms. Typical noob I am. Please if admin could relocate this post to the correct section that would be great. Ended up fixing my mates phone before he realised what happened. Note to self: do not assume that if it works on defy it will also work on defy+; research first don't know what I would do without the xda site/forum. Saved me on many occasions.
Hey guys, Already got the SGS2 with SensatioN ROM 3 on it, so know Android a fair bit really. But for Christmas I got a Motorola Xoom and very happy with it really!
But a few questions, specific to the Xoom itself, rather than Android:
1) Is it as easy to root/put custom ROMs/mods, etc on?
2) Is there any benefits of rooting it?
3) Will it mess up any warranty/guarantee if I did root it?
4) If anyone has one and they've done any significant mods/roms to/on it, then please could you tell me if you would recommend them, and give me links etc?
Thanks for your help guys with every problem I've had so far!
Merry Christmas everybody, hope your day has been great!
Oli
Hi there, i've a SGS2 too.. so i could answer with my experience...
1)its different root a Cellphone and a tablet, but its easy, you need, adb commands on you pc, and the root image, and thats all, find the thread on dev sect.
Then when you are root, just download the rom (Tiamat), reboot on recovery mod, and install it. It's easy...
2) yeah, if you are not root you can't install romsm you get superuser access ( you manage all your device...
3) Yes you lose, but you can unroot it.
4) Motorola Xoom have an AWSOME rom, whos developers are the Team Tiamat... they make pefect the Xoom...
You get the Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254933
And the Team Rogue, make wonderful themes and kernels that give to the xoom a high perfomance with few lose battery....
i hope this help you, if you need some else tell me

If you are interested in rooting and modding, you could take a look at this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
Also, Android 4/Ice Cream Sandwich rom is in development right now; as a matter of fact, I am using it as a daily driver now...it's just missing a few bits, but it's already super fast, smooth and stable, over clocked to 1.6 ghz. So you're going to have fun.
Okay thanks for your help so far but im gonna need a bit more help than just "adb" because m only a 15 year old lad and I don't understand that?
Also what is missing from ICS, as I put it on my SGs2 and it had quite a few features missing/broken?

Actually, I'll bet you will understand how to do this...just go slow and step by step. There really isn't any quicker way (but you can use the limited adb setup furnished by Mandebrot Benoit).
What's still missing from ICS for the Xoom? So far, only camera and microphone don't work. If you root, you might want to flash the latest Team Eos ICS nightly---look in the Development section for more info.
I ahve a mac too, could you give me relevant links/information towards rooting please?
Thanks

Well, I don't have one so I suggest you search on rooting or adb/fastboot with a mac. There have been threads/posts on the topic.
Ah man, I have no idea what to do to root it
My Xoom arrives tomorrow, is all of the info in this thread still up to date? If so, it looks like a good step by step Oli ...

OMG when i started with rooting, i never see the @okantomi Guide... Damm!
...
Yes that's all that your need for rooting

Read through here...read carefully what versions you are on, if you remove s-off now and the 4.4.3 update comes out you may not be able to s-off again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2745257
Based on your other post I really wouldn't worry about it. If I were a bit nervous like you, I would flash a rooted stock rom, which you should be able to find in the threads as well.
Couple quick notes since you sound a bit new, I would edit/remove (you can't delete a post so just edit the entire post to say removed because wrong thread) that request in the Viper thread, someone will probably flame you for asking in there. Lastly, seems like you are getting some help so good luck and keep reading and asking, the Thanks button under peoples names is always appreciated, I know I appreciate it .

Thanks for the tips man!
I really want to root it. i love having the ability to do what i want with my phone and all the fun stuff rooting brings with it self. I want your opinions? If you guys can supply me with links and etc like a stock firmware so just in case i want to unroot and etc. I can't find any for my version which is G920PVPU2BOFE. Also Is There a CWM or TWERP? Well if you guys could help that would be great. :good: :good:
Also are there any good and stable roots for my phones version? I was reading around and found one that had something to do about flashing a new kernel and doing that it didn't let the user use private mode and a few other things. I'm not sure if i should wait it out. I have looked around a lot but couldn't find much about rooting my phones current software version.
