[Q] Need stock 19020a recovery image - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know where I can get a stock recovery image for a nexus s i9020a?
I tried the file from the large sticky post with all the rooms but it only gives me an error in clockwork mod recovery when I try to restore to that file.
I also tried installing that file by manually selecting the zip but that just put it in a boot loop and deleted cwr. I put cwr back on and that is where I am at now. Anyone know why the file isn't working or can link me to a nandroid for i9020a that will work with clockwork recovery?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

wipe data and cache with cwm, flash the rom, flash the stock recovery image, and lock the bootloader. you might have to update to 2.3.4 manually though, but everything is returned to stock

You say flash the rom then flash the stock recovery image. What is the first rom I'm flashing?
And a step by step:
Go to clm, wipe data,
wipe catch
(what do you mean by flash rom)
Install the stock firmware
Is this ALL done in clockwork?

I can't give you exact instructions cause i'm relatively new to this so you'll have to read a guide or something. i'm pretty sure that it's all explained in the thread that I linked you to.
here's what I did, but you might want to double check.
-open clockwork recovery (you might have to re-flash it through fastboot)
-wipe data, and then wipe cache
-put the zip downloaded from the thread that I linked you to on the root of the sd card
-open clockwork recovery again
-install zip from sd > let me choose zip (or something) > let the zip install
-flash the stock recovery image through fastboot
-lock the bootloader through fastboot
done. then just download the OTA update for 2.3.4 and you'll be good as new

Help! SuperBoot Soft Bricked My Phone

I tried to use the superboot method for 2.3.4 as I have in the past, and did it, but now my phone gets stuck on the Google screen with the unlock symbol. I can boot into Bootloader Mode, but I have to do a battery pull to get off the Google screen. I need help ASAP.
I have a Mac with Fastboot installed
I need to get fresh 2.3.4, no root
I have the stock recovery
Try using oneclick.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
That's not enough information. Plus I don't care about root. I just need a working phone at this point
Download both cwm recovery and a full rom for your device (see sticky in general forums for the rom)
Flash cwm recovery via fastboot
Boot into recovery
Factory/data reset
Wipe dalvik cache
Mounts&Storage > format /system (should be enough, if not format everything there is)
Mounts&Storage > mount /sdcard
Mounts&Storage > Mount USB storage
Copy rom on the sdcard
Install rom via recovery (install zip from sdcard)
If you get a signature error deactivate the sig check in recovery (install zip from sdcard menu, IIRC not sure, but it's there somewhere)

Afterwards you'll have a stock rom with stock recovery, unrooted.

[Q] flash stock nandroid back up

I've never flashed back to stock before in cwm. So i just want to make sure there isn't any steps I'm not aware of, or anything that needs to be renamed. Do you have to change mounts/unmount from what there currently set at. Does the cwm back up zip need to be renamed to anything.
These are the steps I think I have to do. If someone can verify or correct me. Will be thanked accordingly
1. Boot into recovery
2. Wipe system
3. Factory reset
4. Flash nandroid back up
5. Wipe cache & devieh (whatever its called lol)
6. Reboot, wait 10 mins
7. Profit?

How do I specifically install a custom rom on the Nexus 7?

So I've unlocked the bootloader, rooted and flashed CWM.
I've also made a backup with titaniumbackup.
How do I go about installing a ROM? I'm confused because I read in some places that you need to wipe cache (davik? What is this?) then wipe everything else on the current ROM, then install the custom ROM, but do I do this through CMD or natively on the Nexus 7 with ROM manager?
What are the steps to do this properly?
Try this, questions just ask
You need a recovery first like 4ext you put that on then you copy the ROM onto the sd from your PC and enter into recovery then you install the zip file and factory reset in the same place wipe cash and that other cache you mentioned keep forgetting name of it

[Q] problem with odin galaxy 7.7 3g

Hi all. The problem is this, I cyan9 through mobileodin to stock 4.0.4. after that I can not flash with odin 1.85 cwm or root, or other rom. Firmware stack after checking the hash file of rom. Stock recovery can not do anything too flash - freeze. How can I restore it?
I try flash stock 404 with pit, try install cwm from stock recovery and rooting, try diferent stock roms russian, indian, australia. - nothing.....
Have idea... Install cwm from recovery stock and flash cyan9 or 10.... But it's bad idea...
p.s. I'm from Ukraine, and somewhat easy in forum lot of information to read quickly, and a lot of bugs Thanks
Are you able to install CWM Recovery? if so then try these steps:
1) reboot to CWM
2) wipe data/factory reset in CWM
3) wipe cache
4) advanced > wipe dalvik, wipe battery stats
5) install .zip from INTERNAL SD
6) reboot
That was the problem that stock recovery remained. Firmware sink crooked rose. And One refused to flash (rom or recovery - PC freeze ). I have been through Heimdall(recovery iso) flash CWM recovery - and then by your advice. If it was all easy initially - the post would not create. Thank you.

[Q] Problem With Flashing SCH-I535

The very first ROM I tried to flash was a version of CarbonRom. I was unsuccessful, as i got the installation aborted message. I then tried a couple of other lesser know ones, with the same luck. Lastly I tried CM 10.1, and with that, i had success. It was the only one that would work so far. Yesterday, I downloaded DU 4.2.2, and A new nightly version of Carbon (Specifically for my phone) With no luck of installation. Am i doing something wrong with these? Is there a different method of flashing i'm missing?
what is the procedure you take to install?
I usually go this route:
1) Boot into whatever recovery you have
2) Wipe Cache/Davlik
3) Install custom ROM
4) run a factory reset
5) Reboot

I have Philz custom recovery which based on cwm version 6.0.3.7 which when you tap wipe data you will then have the option to clean install for new ROM.

Sorry for not replying earlier, i never got a notification. I'm using the most recent version of CWM. My usual order is :
1. Boot into recovery
2. Factory Reset
3. Clear Cache Partition
4. Wipe Dalvik
5. Format /system
6. Mount /system
7. Flash new ROM

well we now have 3 custom recoveries to choose from I like the newer one since I can install a new ROM in fewer steps.
i would do a factory reset after you flash your rom too, can't hurt.
of course on updating the same ROM, I only Wipe Cache/Davlik and that's it.
Bad download? Does the md5 match?
after making sure you wiped everything make sure the download itself was proper I am running it flawless right now
