mkv files- no sound in HW mode?? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I was wondering that why there's no sound when i play Mkv files using moboplayer or MX player in HW mode?
there's sound on SW mode but it jitters alot.
anyone with the same problem as me???

everyone gets that. it seems the way to get mkv 720p hi-profile to work in the TF (or possibly any tegra2 device) is to decode video in Hw and sound in SW.
try dice player, it does it.

I had some mkv files that would play sound in moboplayer, but Dice player works great for them. I still use moboplayer on my phone, though.

Dice player... got it...
thanks for all your advice.

Mkv 720p player

Sorry for my poor Eng.
Today I tried buzz player and it played my mkv 720p files with no lag at all (with internal buzz decoder), thought it suddenly stopped after period of time and then I couldn't see any media files, had to close and opened the app again. There're still some mirror problems with this player when working on honeycomb but I think it can play 720p mkv smoothly.
I tried moboplayer, mplayer, rockplayer and vplayer, rockplayer and vplayer couldn't play at all, mobo and mplayer work laggy.
So hopefully someone will have a look.
Plz correct me if I am wrong.

[Q] Best Media Player

What do people use to play movie files?
I use moboplayer and the default video player. I like how the default clears the screen whereas moboplayer leaves the back/home/recent apps and menue button.
is there any way to remove these whilst playing video files?
Dice Player. It has played everything I've thrown at it.
I came across mx video player after reading another topic on xda and i love it. It plays just about anything i throw at it and uses H/W accelleration and has a screen swipe for fast forward and rewind and options on screen setup and layout. Best of all its free !
Jason.

+1 Dice Player
dice player is good. i cant say it plays *everything* i've thrown at it though. most 720p scene encodes i've tried seem to struggle.
Unfortunately, I there is no one player solution for HC yet. Dice player and MX Player are among the good ones but neither play "everything".

I've been looking for the same thing. I want the menu bar to clear. Dice player does it, but I've had better file playback with moboplayer. Dice player's UI isn't as nice as others but they do update frequently. I'm staying with mobo for now, maybe if some people bug them about clearing the screen on tablets, they will add it.
to save your battery, use diceplayer.
SW decoder based player like mobo/mx/vplayer need more battery than diceplayer.
SW video decoder need more CPU power & battery.
have a Question, have Tried standard Android player, MX player, Rock Player and Dice player. there is never no sound with my 720P MKV's (even though there should be) and i have a 720P MP4 that is Jerky as F***.
Also, with MX player and Diceplayer, whenever using HW rendering the video is fine but has no Sound, When SW Rendering is used its jerky With sound.. Lame !

Could you post your MP4 file's MediaInfo?
(Container / Codec info )
Daroon player... plays DVD's with Menu!
+1 DicePlayer
Plays most things I throw at it (more than the others I've tried)
Handles mutli-audio & multi-subtitles (even ass/aas MKV ones)
Streaming from ES File Explorer.
Damn good dev feedback
Happy.
I'm pretty sure mono has hardware decoding. It gets choppy for me when I use its software decoding.

Buzz player, V player, QQ Player.
With those 3 have played everything.
Dice player plays most files using hardware acceleration.
Worth every penny !!
+1 Dice player. It's very simple but for me is the best player for my transformer

Diceplayer can play any combinations of audio codec(aac/dts/ac3/flac) and containers(avi,mkv,mp4,mov....) with HW video acceleration.
But other players(QQ,Mobo,vPlayer....) can play supported format/audio codec by system with HW acceleration.
All of non supported combinations ( like a DTS+MKV, MOV,... ) are played by SW codec.

You could use Hide Bar for this.
Site: http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/
Code: https://github.com/ppareit/HideBar
I used that until revolver incorporated a similar feature.

New MX Video Player 1.3 is really nice. The UI has been redone quite a bit. The task bar now goes into the dim mode during playback (I think that's new). Playback is great for XViD... haven't tried any x264+AC3/DTS, but it should be pretty good since it is able to HW decode the video and SW decode the audio.

Video player for the note

Hi all,
The stock player plays quite a few files natively but wasn't able to recognize the .mov taken with my friend's DSLR. I used to use MX player with my old phone and it worked great with HW acceleration but when I try to play the .mov (1080p) on the Note, only SW acceleration is available for the note which is quite choppy and it wont let me install any of the codecs from the market. Does anyone know of any other video players for the Note, or have got MX player working properly? I tried installing the ARMv7 codec on the note, is this the right version?
Thanks in advance,
Shaizer.
Im running DicePlayer which works great.
There's no problem playing mov-files in 1080p, I just tried a 1080p trailer in mov with DicePlayer and it worked perfectly. However I'm not sure what bitrate the your mov-file is?
I have Mx video player installed without any extra codec. Apparently the idea is you only need a codec if it actually asks for it.
I have so far tried various formats mp4, mkv (both 720 & 1080) and it has played them all.
I'm using QQ Player.

I use dice player too. It works great with all my HD/SD videos with subtitles.
Awesome thanks all, will try DicePlayer and see how that goes. The bitrate of my .mov files are 46MBPS I guess its a raw format as it is straight from the camera.
Dice Player plays MKV's flawlessly.

As does MoboPlayer and best of all it's free.
I haven't found Moboplayer quite as good as Dice Player, but I do use it occasionally (it's software decoding is a bit better than Dice Player's).
Also using MoboPlayer; it works well.

Mobo is the only one that works for streaming from my NAS ... except the sound does not work!
No other player I have tried (including the ones mentioned above) will stream at all and I have yet to find one that works with the sound

mkv playing with no sound :S Player Suggestions that don't lag ?

So playing mkv files with original videoplayer and mx player streams the video really well but with no sound :/ Do you guys know any good video player that doesn't lag, run smooth and support sound. ? btw Vplayer is lagging but sound works.
in this section, look for the thread regarding blu ray ripping. the answer is in there.

There are some posts already about this. I use BSPlayer.
bsplayer ftw
ffmpeg is the key
With BS Player or Dice Player, you need to use ffmpeg library. You need to copy a file named libffmpeg.so to /mnt/sdcard/. Sorry, but XDA rules forbid me to post URLs (not 10 posts yet). If you need the file, i can send you a dropbox link by MP.

MKV is a container format, meaning it can contain multiple tracks for video and audio in different formats (even subtitles and chapters are supported). The sound track probably is in DTS format. There are only a few players around for android that can play DTS encoded audio. BSplayer and VPlayer.
Depending on the bitrate of the video, VPlayer does "lag" on some movies for me, BSplayer hasn't done that yet.
edit:
If you can to know what tracks and file encodings are in the mkv check out MediaInfo (windows) or mkvmerge GUI from MKVToolNix (cross platform).
BSplayer streams all my 1080p from my server flawless. The fact that it gets subs auto is amazing. Best player i tried so far tbh

Playing MKV DTS Videos?

What's the best option for playing MKV DTS movies on the TF300? All the new players won't do DTS audio, but I hear that older versions of some software, like Dice will. But, I'm not sure that the older versions will support/use the Tegra 3.
Thanks in advance.
Found solution, but shuttering: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34649108&postcount=16

Says it does multi-core decoding. I'd like know how well it plays your mkv files.
MX Player with h/w+ decoding plays mine just fine. I use DSP Manager for all my Audio.
Thx, but VLC doesn't play MKV DTS videos.

So you have no shuttering issues even with 1080p KMV DTS videos?
The shuttering is probably network related as I'm streaming it over WiFi, especially large files.
There's also XBMC for Android, I haven't tried it yet, but going to now: http://xbmc.org/download/
XBMC for Android works but isn't great at playing MKV files, really slow, shuttering.

Have you found a reliable option mate? I tried MX, Dice, VLC and all have problems with DTS. There is an option to use external filters in MX, but its unreliable. I tried several files, with bitrates from 2-3k to 20+k. MX with HW+ encoding plays smoothly, but no sound.
I think I tried SopCast player and it might have played DTS, don't really remember, maybe you can give it a try.
I'm using Galaxy Nexus. If you've found a solution, don't hesitate to PM me.
