Vanilla 2.2? - LG Optimus 3D

Is there a way to get an untouched 2.2 on the 3D?
I HATE LG's attempt at skinning up the 2.2, it looks crap and it runs badly, with loads of annoying features that I don't want or need.

you can try flashing fabs waterbear 3d rom and remove things that you don't like. Or else try to build up your own rom. There won't really be a vanilla 2.2 for O3D as there are things that LG needs to add in to make sure the 3D part work. So the best way is, customize on your own to suit your needs. That's the fun part of android anyway

Just use another launcher, like Adw Launcher or Go Launcher.

MotoBlur and Pulse.... Why??

Why is no one porting MotoBlur and Pulse to the Sapphire MT3G? Why is everyone so stuck on Hero?
There HAVE been blur ports in the past. Do a little research before you make generalized statements. And Hero is more popular because it already came off an HTC device. It's easier to cook.
Please do just a little research before creating a new topic!
now the real question is why we dont see these for the 32a
Moto Blur & Pulse
Question, and maybe someone can direct me where to find it but whats the difference between Pulse, and Motoblur?
Polaris and Ronni... I did research before posting and found only one pulse rom and 3 motoblur roms compared to the hundreds of hero roms. My post was simple and just a question. Why? That was all. If I was a youngster with no forum know how, then your down talking would be understood. Thanks anyway.

Sorry but your post "Why is no one porting MotoBlur and Pulse to the Sapphire MT3G?" makes it seem like you didn't research at all. Like polaris0352 wrote is that Hero is easier to cook plus it's more popular. But i hope it won't be long before we start to see more non-htc roms for our magics!
I think part of the reason is that GPS and WiFi don't work, which means the uptake is a lot less. Once WiFi and GPS are working (which apparently won't happen until Dragon is available) then I'd bet more ports of these roms will start to appear. I like Blur and would make it my permanent rom if the wireless wasn't an issue.

because hero comes from an HTC phone wich would lead one to believe it would be much easier to run on our HTC phones...
motoblur was alright didnt like the feel and its hard to make moto and HTC play nice
Pulse....welll.... i think pulse sucked others like it though
I know there are at least 3 pulse roms that are decent and there are 2-3 blur roms that run enough to use

I've created 32A porting packages for both Pulse and MotoBlur ROM some time ago.

Im running a Blur Rom that WiFi is working on but there were no instructions on partition setup, if any. It is real smooth but when I put my own wallpaper on, it seems to slow down a bit.

Can you Post a Link to the WiFi working Blur?
I've not seen any Blur with WiFi working at all due to the Kernel requirements.
I will have to find the link for you guys. The Rom is running on my MT3G 32B Rooted. Im going to assume that the WiFi works for that Im using WiFi Tether to connect to the internet with my laptop as I type. I will get a link after while. The file name is MotoCliq_v0.5.zip. I think Drizzy put it out. Not for certain though.

The reason for the lack of ports is honestly the firmware being so tied to social aspects. All the "cool" features are in the UI with the social stuff, but the rest of the firmware... well... sucks. I ported both and got bored in a couple days. Hero has new dumps and new versions of sense and the prospect of updating to 1.6 and eventually 2.0 These are done. One dump, one version, no projected future. Not much room to grow. Hero has all the features this does and then some, with the exception of universal inbox and the way launcher reacts. Pulse isnt really much of a ROM, either. Its just a cool UI and a bunch of paid apps put together into a firmware.

I hear ya. I just get tired of looking at the same bottom bar and out of all the times I try to ask for help, no one wants to share on how to get started making my own with my own look. I have seen a hero rom with a somewhat Pulse bottom bar and it looked killer but the slowness of the rom was not bareable.
I actually flashed the new Andriod 2.0 Eclair to my phone. It is a stripped down Rom and has nothing in it but MAN do I like the lock screen and menu play. Very nice, clean and cool. I wish I had Eclair with a MotoBlur look and feel and Hero internals. I do like Blur's social widgets. Nice!

[ROM][32B] tek's-ROM v0.0.1 pre-ALPHA, [Donut], "What's wrong with this picture?"
Hi, all,
Here is a project I have been working on for a couple days I would like to share with you. This is a pure, unmodified Android 1.6 Donut ROM.
Remember, this is a PRE-ALPHA, so don't expect stability, or anything extraordinary. Given that I am a pretty big n00b when it comes to developing (thus the broken market and sync in a 1.6 ROM ), and any help in getting these apps working is greatly appreciated.DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING HAPPENING TO YOUR PHONE, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!.
UPDATED: Okay, this thing is now usable. Ive combined AOSP code and The HTC ADP1 ROM so everything on the doesn't work list now works. The only things that dont work are the Apps2SD and Su (working on this as we speak). This ROM is also 100% stock.
Okay, so here are the lists:
What works:
Camera
Wifi
Gps
Keyboard
Phone
SMS
Essentially everything that isn't on the doesn't work list.
What doesn't work (everything on this list will be fixed in the future)
Su
Apps2SD
Also thanks to cyanogen for some of the system apps that have been pulled from his rom .
Download link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=87E09WTH
Cheers!
Wondering why all these things dont work on a donut rom lol?
Anyways good work
mainly causeI'm actually trying to learn how to build a donut rom lol, hopefully without making yself look like a total idiot.
this is pretty much useless

you're not being helpful by saying that, this kid (i'm assuming, could be wrong) just wants to learn how to build ROMs and is asking for help.
Is this rom built straight off of AOSP or is it another rom and you put own touches? Because it will help alot more so i can see if i can fix some of the broken apps for you
EDIT: It helps alot more to theme after you fix everything... Just my opinion

It is built straight off AOSP, with the goal of being really fast, as fast as any other really good donut rom. But none of the other google apps work out of the box on AOSP, as I probably should have known. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out on this.
I agree, I should have themed it after, but I love the theme,so I just stuck it in there.
Tekgek
Why should I want to flash this? Or rather, why should I want to flash this once it's more developed? What is this going to have that Cyanogen or Super D or CSDI doesn't?
My point is, it'd be a good idea to maybe put something out there that you're planning on implementing into this that no one else is doing, or that you can do better. We have several stable, incredibly fast Donut roms out there right now, so what should set this apart from the rest of the crowd?
Just my two cents. I'd love to see this turn into something spectacular.

So would I. To one poster on this thread, I am just a person with computer skills who just got interested in Android two days ago. However, I do have plans for this rom, something that may or may not be possible. Any developer who is interested in the concept please pm me, and tell me if I am dreaming things up that are impossible or not.
EDIT: Okay, I guess its not that top secret, post ideas here too, if you like. My idea is to create a donut rom with the speed and stability of Android 1.6 on the G1, but with the ability to run 2.1 3d apps natively. Essentially, take what cyanogen has done with his ROMs to a whole new level. Impossible? Probably. Opinions, people who actually have experience with Android?
"whats wrong with this picture?"
The following
What doesn't work (everything on this list will be fixed in the future)
Android Market
Google Sync
Initial Setup
Google Apps in general
Apps2SD

From the department of stabbing in the dark, it sounds like your Google apps aren't signed with the right keys. I believe they need to be signed with the same keys as the rest of the /system/app apps you build off the source. Swim through Cyanogen's Twitter posts as I believe he's answered this there before (or just try resigning them and see if it works.)
To the Author:
Good job on your first build. Keep up the hard work. It sounds to me like you might not have added the GApps after you compiled it from kernel, but I could be wrong as I haven't flashed it. But don't lose hope, you'll get it.
To The Other Users:
I'm a bit disappointed in some of the replies I've been reading. It seems like a lot of you only really care about how this rom effects you, rather than how it effects the author in general. You don't build giant empire over night, but it does show that he put a lot of effort into the build. If you don't like it, don't use it, but don't make remarks that bring the developer down.

personally i hate ADW i think its performance is subpar. launcher+ is a very very quick home but slightly lacking in features, why dont the XDA community trow together our own G1 optimized home app the way the people want it, Oh and yes we need a port of that Galaxy home.

ADW suffices. Anyone who "hates" ADW or thinks it's "sub-par" is not smart enough to explore all the settings. One checkbox could literally make the biggest difference. It has almost everything the touchwiz offers other than all the icons being iPhone like. With all these phones coming out, ive chosen to look forward, my g1 did me well but i'm actually getting a samsung vibrant because even though all these new things are constantly being ported to our G1's, it doesn't change the fact that the processor and hardware struggle to run it. It seems like an extensive metamorph to ADW would actually get you what you're looking for, so maybe learn how to make themes? Requesting this isn't a quick tedious task, if someone did take this challenge on it would end up being an extensive project before it was 100% stable.

AnderWebs has been really great with taking input from the community and created a respected and very useful launcher.
If you got the skills, by all means, make some competition. If you don't, be grateful for what has been developed in the community ( what was not provided by AOSP)

Oh screw you, i voice my opinion and you basically call me an idiot? typical. this is why i dont come here that often. its performance IS subpar when you look at something like launcher pro, which is lightning fast you wonder why developers arnt spending more time working on getting the core of the application functioning at optimal performance before adding as many features as they can to it. i know every in and out of ADW i am currently running it at the moment, im also running the Galaxy S home app and even that is better than ADW on the G1. Ive been in software development for a number of years and im the kind of person who writes intuitive user interfaces that little pups like you use so dont even consider telling me im "not smart enough" when im coming to the table with experience under my belt. This god complex that people around here seem to have needs to end. what you COULD temporarily do is turn on all of the screens for ADW Launcher place all of the apps on the homescreen and set the default to the first one? Idk I think it would somewhat match the look but not sure if it would suffice...
Here's some screenshots of what I mean:
Personally I find samsung's custom UI a hindrance to otherwise good hardware, and it's the thing that turns me off to the galaxy line of phones, but to each his own. I believe there are various themes that you can download to change the look of the icons out there and some tweaking plus that should do the trick.
On a sidenote I don't notice any real lag or slowness from ADW. There is sometimes a hickup when closing a big program and going back to the home screen or during an initial wakeup after being asleep for a while or when I'm heavily multitasking while using swap, but that's something I've observed in my g1 since we stopped getting officially supported updates and it happens whether I'm on launcher pro or adw or the stock launcher.

I definitely agree, most home replacements these days run just fine when set up correctly and the Samsung Galaxy S set up requires that many more swipes to get to what I need but this just shows the extent of the customization behind ADW.

LauncherPro, for one, is not "lightning fast", on my G1 anyway. Takes nearly a minute to set each shortcut? With ADW you just click and drop. All of them may have their weaknesses here and there but my ADW is always lightning quick on any 2.1 ROM i use. And typically, people that have been in software development for YEARS and YEARS tend to develop what they want to meet their needs, not take part in a thread asking for someone to take their time and do it. I for one have not been in software development for YEARS and YEARS, so I just appreciate what's given to me. That's all, not flaming. Well kinda.

Anderwebs took the aosp launcher and added the features the peoploe want. Its 100% open source and anybody can send source code pull request (cyanogen does it for example) or ask him for features (he added the real cool features after I forced him to)
Adding different home icons is 5 minute work. You wont eaven need source... Learn to do it yourself!
galaxy s launcher isn't hvga, so it's virtually impossible to port.
The only current samsung phone that IS hvga AND has that launcher is the samsung wave, which isn't even android.
Both the samsung acclaim and the sprint intercept have the stock-ish android launcher... no cool app drawer.
sorry folks.

Im, referring to the OP.
this thread is kickass!
personally i think that anderwebs (the creator of the Android Open Source Project, AOSP, as well as the ADW module for it) is a pretty cool guy. But this thread is about the Samsung S Launcher.
Well done that it isn't meant for our screens and would be almost impossible for the layman (but not anderwebs because he was co-founder to Android) to port. But OP I don't think this is gonna happen. I know I think the Samsung launcher is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen and I don't think I'm alone as there's very little interest atm.
LauncherPro is a cool guy but the dev doesn't share his work so automagically disregard that thought.
Ander webbs (ADW) is making the new version of his launcher right now. It will support theming and it will include a couple themes (most of the nice ones are going to be donate themes) but im sure a little after he releases it people will come out with some pretty cool themes for it and you might end up liking it better who knows? He said it would be out really soon so maybe tonight idk.

[Request] Sense UI app zooming animation

Can someone possibly hack in a zooming animation for when applications are opened and closed into the Rosie launcher? This would be great because it feels very boring having everything just pop up immediately and would definitely spice it up!
It would be a lot easier for you to just not use sense. App zooming is in stock android, and you can customize launcher pro or adw launcher to very accurately mimic sense.
Not accurately. I love how Sense integrates social networks in one place. And all the widgets. These CANNOT be replaced by anything in stock.
Actually, the dev of launcher pro is working on making all of the sense widgets for his launcher, some are available right now, others are on the way. Launcherpro.com the ones available now work fantastically and he's going to be doing friendstream as well. I prefer this to sense, the screen previews are vastly superior than senses also.
The way it integrates social networking...
What does sense integrate that stock doesn't?

Stock has everything you really need. Unless you're looking for specifically the friendstream (which I personally don't like because its too much for me to go through facebook and twitter at once), which btw can be on stock sort of by using the facebook application of .. something I don't remember, but it is a ported applicaiton from an LG phone i thinkso.
But if you want sense, please flash a sense rom. There are some very very good ones out now, like evilD's with 720p recording. check into it.
No, like the People application. It has EVERYTHING in it about your contacts. Text messages, emails, facebook, twitter, events, gallery... everything in one place.
And prettier UI.
As stated just use sense, especially SINCE you refuse to try my suggestion which would most likely suit best. Launcherpro can emulate sense nicely, including what you've listed

Stop being stubborn with your LauncherPro. Please. I have used and tried it, it doesn't satisfy my needs. This topic is about hacking in a zooming animation, not telling me what I should use instead.
I want to see it have a People application that combines everything I wrote earlier with all the widgets and integration, nice UI, friendstream, and events.

Stop being stubborn with your LauncherPro. Please. I have used and tried it, it doesn't satisfy my needs. This topic is about hacking in a zooming animation, not telling me what I should use instead.
I want to see it have a People application that combines everything I wrote earlier with all the widgets and integration, nice UI, friendstream, and events.

lol, Gotta lova XDA.
As for the topic. I'm not sure If I'm remember correctly or not, but the initial leaks of Sense UI for desire, I believe those animations were in place. Might try giving a holler to Paul over on madaco.

Get back on topic please, xXJay_RXx. I didn't start this thread to argue, but ask for a feature request.
I saw a stock HTC Hero yesterday and it had this zooming feature. It looks amazing...
Has anyone figured out how to implement it ? (No Comments about Launcher Pro please...)
Just reading along different threads couldnt you just take out the anim folder from the rosie that has the zoom and add it to where you want it? But i believe you would have to rename some of those coming from the rosie anim my best bet
It would be just like how theres a lot of transition effects now, because people just replace that folder with otheres

CM6 UI is really dry and bland...

I'm running CM6 with Snap7.6&Turbo and just trying to spice things up a bit. I just don't know where to start. I have been reading through this forum trying to figure out how to apply customizations that are CM6-compatible but just don't feel like I've found the right direction yet. I was looking through some of the screens on the "Post your screens" thread and some of those look pretty cool!
I'm trying to gain a sense of knowledge so that I can start making my own cool screens! Thanks for you help!
You know you can customize it alot. Look in the cm settings.
Sent from my supersonic yea....
lol
Check out this rom. It flashes over CM6. It's got some nice features already built in.

Get LauncherPro and have at it.
this is fun

this is fun
custom icons, battery and boot animation all in one...

fun with fonts (always a winner)

(you can even add stuff to the zip made from the UOT kitchen. thus making restoration after a wipe or ROM flash even easier. for example, i include my custom font so everything is flashed in one go)
adw.launcher and launcherpro are not so far apart as some claim..unless you need a lot of Sense type widgets. i have tried LP and it's ok, but i prefer adw and keep coming back to it over and over. /shrug

I really like Cyanogen, but this is one of the reasons I am toying with MIUI. For the moment it has great features an awesome sms app. A good bit of eye candy and is quite fast. And its all AOSP. All of this out of the box.
Blasphemy! JK. Bland is such a strong word.
