GTalk.apk + video? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Anyone successful with this app? I was able to install it with infused v2 and chat no problem. when i try to.video i get a FC.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

It works for me. There are more than one versions. You should try the other versions if one doesn't work for you. I used the v2-no-wifi. But I still can't receive calls while not on WiFi.

I'm on Infused 2.0 GB ROM... the one GTG posted in the thread doesn't work for me, when I try to install the APK it says "This app did not install" ... anyone want to post one that's working for them in GB on Infused 2.0?
Thanks!

I use the one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793

Which one? There's 4 files on there. Does it work with Video from the Front Facing Camera on Infused 2.0, and does it work on 3G AND WiFi?
Thanks!

I really want one that works on cellular data... kinda defeats the purpose if I have to be home on WiFi, I could just use my computer, haha :-(

The one that doesn't say nowifi only works on wifi. The others work on 3G and WiFi and works with FFC on Infused 2.0 (I use Infused 2.0 also). None of those allows you to RECEIVE calls on 3G, but you can initiate the call. If you receive a call while on 3G you will get a message saying that you have to be connected to WiFi to receive video calls.
I used specifically this file : "talk1.3.nowifi.v2-signed.zip"

Sounds good, I'll give it a whirl.
So I delete my installed Google Talk, then flash this zip with CWM and I'm good to go? No need to wipe davlik?

That's correct. No need to wipe dalvik. Backup your installed Google Talk just in case.

You mean remove current right ? That is why I did and it works... how safe is this (for possible charges) ?
There isn't an actual Skype video for Sprint users...Verizon users have it available......Skype needs to get on the ball bc love the service. Yahoo messenger also does video/calling. I haven't tried it but it has similar features over WiFi.
Although Skypes main feature is to call over 3/4G.....

I tried this on CM7 RC4 and it failed! I even did it both ways....I left the one I downloaded from the market installed and try to replace it with the one you attached and NOTHING....then I uninstalled the market one, used root explorer and deleted the folder in data/data, rebooted and installed the one you attached and NOTHING.....it FC everytime I go into it! Is the one you attached only work with 2.2 or what??
Remove current skype and install attached.. worked for me. Like said still no video so try ooVoo messangesupports video over 3G

I've tried Tango and to me its not that great. So I switched back to Qik.....so far that's the better app at least until Skype allows the video syreaming....like said its on Verizon.
Does anyone have a Droid on VZ? I wonder if the signed app that talks to Skype can be used on other Droids to allow Skype video to work? Just an idea

Verizon users do not have that upgraded skype that was shown a month ago, unless they are hiding it. Its not on the xoom and its not on the thunderbolt also its not in the vzw market

Skype_3g.apk works great on my Evo over Sprint 3g.
Ok, now a question on legality. I know most wouldn't care, and I realize that in this case absolutely nobody is getting hurt (Sprint doesn't care, I checked. Skype couldn't care, b/c it means more business for them. Verizon may care, b/c now they lose their exclusivity with Skype on 3g versus Sprint, but I wouldn't have switched to them, regardless.) But isn't my downloading and using this modified version of Skype a violation of Skype's eula?
"2.3 No Modifications: You will not undertake, cause, permit or authorize the modification, creation of derivative works, translation, reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling or hacking of the Skype Software or any part thereof except to the extent permitted by law. "
Can anyone re-hack the skype app version 1.0. 0.0. 831

I forgot about that one +1
The voice wasn't working for me. The video was but I could only see their video, they couldn't see mine.
EDIT: Scratch that. Voice works both ways. Video still only works one way and I still don't appear to the user to have voice/video capability, but I can call them.
It installs okay for me. Running superaosp v6.2, but the voice chat options are grayed out. Maybe because of my rom?
Edit: okay now it's working. Weird.

If you have a 2.3 rom on it, it might. It seems 2.3.4 might be required for it to work 100% though. If you are running 2.2.x or lower, it won't work since it uses the new camera API in Gingerbread.
Does this enable me to dial to any phone number using my Google Voice account (ie no cell phone minutes) similar to the function in Gmail on a PC?
I think it works only on WIFI. If I try calling someone on mobile data, it asks for WIFI connection. Anybody else having this issue. Sorry if I am missing something very basic here ( CM 7.0.2)

just look at the link in the OP:

No voice nexus one
Tried several versions on my nexus one:
gtalk1.3.nowifi.ffc-signed.zip
JVQ_Talk2_v1_2.zip
talk1.3.nowifi.v2-signed.zip
used adb to install
All claim to be talk1.3
But I don't see any voice icon, and in a chat, selecting 'more' shows voice chat is grayed out.
I DID enable voice/video.
Only thing I can think of is I'm on 3g, not wifi ATM. But several of these versions should allow voice on 3g, right?

Skype with video calling!! UPDATE: now officially supported on the market.

I didn't make this work, I take no credit for it. I just distribute it to the masses. I found this on the Galaxy Tab forum and thought if it works on my Tab, why not my phone too? So I tried and it does! The video freezes when you switch to the back camera but other than that its seems to work fine. Have fun!

UPDATE: First, i can't video call out, i have to receive it. Second, it forse closes when you try to answer with video. I'm running Bionix Black Ice and Bali 3.2UV. I would try Trigger but they're both KD1 based ROMs so i don't think it will change. I might flash KF2 just for this though.
Nope for me...
For me, on stock kd1 + root, it crashes skype as soon as I use video (initiate a video call, or touch the video icon). It won't receive video either when the other side starts their video.
PS: I already had skype installed (latest from Market), and even after uninstalling it would not install at first, giving a message about not enough available storage (even though there was plenty). The fix was to remove the /data/data/com.skype.raider directory that somehow was not removed when the app was uninstalled... The same was needed after uninstalling this one to go back to the Market version.

Wifi-Calling on Infuse

Did anyone try the Wifi-Calling app on Infuse ?. Its a popular app on T-mobile, i saw it on the vibrant & works great. I extracted it from the vibrant and installed it on Infuse. It didn't work. It force closes. May be our Infuse kernal wudn't support it.Btw- i am on Infused 2.3.3.
Any help/thoughts ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Obviously, there's a simple reason.
It's a T-Mobile app ONLY. You need T-Mobile service for it to work, because it connects to their servers with your subscriber info.
tl;dr, It won't work without T-Mobile service.
Wifi calling
so if i unlock it i can use it?
You would need a TMo voice account to use this. Better option is to use SIP with many of the free clients on Android to make wifi calls. GB even has internet calling built in.

I got it to work on the Darky-ROMs. No point in making a new thread so here it is

If you need me to get it working on any other ROM, do let me know.
I know there is a mod in the other section of the Infuse form to get this to work. It is to much for me to understand but maby it will help you.

There is one version that is actually working on SK4G. Found it somewhere here, on XDA, but can't remember original thread. Hope it's OK to post external URL here: http://xdjh.info/ftp/share/apk/skype_for_SK4G.apk
You need to set 'Use MODE_ON_CALL' in 'Tweaks', audio works fine with that. Both cameras works too. I've tested this software on RAGE firmware - everything works.
