[Q] Dropped my phone, how do I get the pictures? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello,
I managed to drop my phone and bust the screen soon after I bought it (luckily I have insurance). I hadn't had a chance to root it or anything, but I have some pictures on the phone I really want to get out of it. I thought the phone would have put them on the SD card but when I looked on the card, I don't see them, so I must assume they are stored on the phone itself. Since I can't do anything with the phone screen, is there any way to get the pictures off of it?
Thanks for any help!

If ADB works you can adb shell/adb pull the files.
Look up Droid Explorer - I believe this automatically installs adb for Windows users and has a nice frontend for file transfers. I've never messed with ADB in Windows as I'm a Linux user so I can't help you any more.

That worked, thanks!
I had not rooted the phone, but luckily I had set the phone to USB debugging before I dropped it. So even though I couldn't see anything on the screen, I ran Super One Click and it rooted, then Droid Explorer found it and I was able to pull off my photos.

[Q] Computer Virus infiltrates Galaxy S?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, however;
My gf's laptop had a virus on it that I didn't know about, I plugged my Samsung Galaxy S in, and suddenly I have a ".scr" clone of pretty much every folder on my phone. I deleted a load of them, plugged it back into the computer and sure enough they came back.
Now there are literally hundreds of the .scr clones on my phone.
Is there a way to delete them all?
Also, if this is not a virus and a bug instead, do let me know ha =]
You should probably try to format it to get rid of anything that may be in there. I wouldn't keep any of the files as they could have been currupted.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Quick update;
This is the virus found on the computer: http://www.virus-encyclopedia.com/virus/Network-Worms/other/worms1626.html
Not sure what relevance it has to the SGS as I don't understand any of it.
Download and install Everything.
Start the computer in safe mode.
Plug in your phone.
Run Everything OR right-click the phone's data drive and run everything.
Type in ".scr" in the search bar.
Delete every instance of this file.
Plug your phone out of the laptop.
Restart the laptop and scan it with a decent anti-virus (MSE).
NEVER PLUG YOUR PHONE BACK IN THAT LAPTOP AGAIN.
For extra security, you can now backup most of your important files, in case it gets corrupted (though I doubt it). And then format the sd card.
Hey Sygeek, about to try this out now, thanks for the help!
Also, this is the only laptop in which I can use my phone with, what are the reasons of not plugging it back in ever? (Except the obvious possible reinfection).

Just do a scan and make sure your laptop's virus-free (with that particular price). You should be fine then.
I very much doubt, that the virus would harm your sgs.
But it could have possibly copied it self over as it recognized your android as mass storage.
Hey guys, sorry I haven't updated in the past couple of days.
I think it was recognized as mass storage device Dark3n, you're right.
I couldn't figure out that search everything program, I did everything I was told but it didn't return any results, so what I did was as follows:
1. scan computer and delete all recorded instances of a virus.
2. restarted computer.
3. plugged phone in as mass storage device.
4. used my antivirus software to scan the phone (as mass storage device).
5. it then went on to delete all 382 instances of the virus.
6. unplugged phone, restarted it (i don't think i needed to, but I did anyway).
7. plugged phone back in and wallah, no more virus.
There was nothing missing, nothing wrong with android or anything, it was just an annoyance I guess.
Thanks for your help everyone.

Possible to extract SMS messages from a RAZR maxx with a broken display?

My friend desparately needs to extract the SMS log from his razr maxx. Unfortunately, he dropped it and the display is completely broken. The phone is unrooted and USB debugging is not enabled. The phone seems to be functional other than the display - the softtouch buttons light up and when plugged in over USB, it is recognized. Is there any method by which I might extract the SMS data for him? Keep in mind that with a broken display, I can't enable debugging or install anything on the phone itself.
I suspect the answer is "no", but I figured I'd check before he has to go through the process of getting a court order to get the logs from verizon.

Unfortunately you need root to do anything that would help. But it appears that the LCD is broken, maybe you could get it replaced?

I have the same problem, but my razr is rooted. Also my phone is locked with the pattern. Can I use the usb to control my phone with my laptop? The cracked screen wont let me enter my pattern. I just need to access the phone and backup the internal memory.
Thanks

If USB-Debugging is enabled on your phone, you might be able to connect from a computer via ADB.
If Debugging is disabled, I don't think you will be able to access the phone via the computer.
There is a lot of tutorials on how to install ADB on your computer if you haven't done yet. Try it to see if you get access.
I have adb installed and bugging is enabled. i can connect to the device, but when I try to do an adb backup it says to say yes to the prompt on the phone. Problem is that I cant use my phone cause of the screen. Is my only option to dock it with a keyboard and mouse? Is there a way to remove the lock pattern through adb??
Update... Here's what I did.
I ran adb pull /mnt/sdcard but that didnt pull my dcim folder. There were two dcim folders. One on the internal sd and one on the external sd.
What's the best way to pull everything off the phone??
When I try to back up it says this...
C:\users\admin>adb backup -all
Now unlock your device and confirm the backup operation.

So phone screen cracked... anyway to backup internal SD?

My phone screen cracked a couple weeks ago, it wasn't that bad that I couldn't stand it but it was a little bothersome. Anyways I thought I would just put up with it for a while, but I ended up placing a claim for a replacement from Asurion a few days ago. Well I dropped my phone again the other day while I was walking home using the LED flash, and I thought everything was fine til I got home and I noticed the screen didn't turn on anymore. It is unresponsive as well so can't answer calls either. I tried plugging the device into my computer and it listed the device but I couldn't access the actual files. I tried opening Odin up just to see if I could even write to the phone, and ended up flashing a root66 file I had from a while back. I don't believe it wipes the the internal SD so I was wondering if it was possible to retrieve the data off the phone still? I have most of my stuff, including Titanium backups, on my external SD; but I believe I have a few important files on the internal too.
Edit: .-. Just remember I was on an AOSP rom before odin'ing.. so phone won't boot up all the way. Are there any AOSP roms I can flash in Odin? Yeah I know what I did was really stupid haha.

There's an app called airdroid that let's you control and use a lot of the phones functions on a web browser via wifi. You can browse your files, send and receive text messages among many other things. Maybe it will help you out with copying files to your computer and other problems?
Edit: just saw your edit sorry don't know how to help.

Even then, the screen doesn't turn on and is unresponsive. So can't install any apps or anything.
You could try adb pull, but I don't know the exact paths you should use. Don't forget phone needs to in usb debugging before you're able to use it.

Gave up on adb a while ago. Tried so many times to figure out how to use it to no avail. Plus I might have screwed up too far at this point to adb
You could give Android Commander a try. Read about it on Addictivetips, I believe it uses adb. It's pretty much a file explorer.

[Q] Deleted photo recovery from internal memory

I have a Droid Razr HD Android Version 4.1.2 Build number 9.8.1q-79
Is there anyway to recover my deleted photos from my internal memory?
I lost 5 months worth of pics. This pics are very important to me.
I have tried various recovery programs using my PC but I can't get these programs to recognize my phone through a USB port.
It appears that I have to use my phone instead of my PC to recover my pics but when I try to open any recovery program that I download my phone will not open the program.
I have at least 100 pics or more that I accidentally deleted. The majority of these pics where taken at my job which I use for reference. I should have had these pics on my external card but I just plain screwed up on that move. I have been told that I should switch phone to "mass storage" but I can't get my phone to do that. Rooting my phone has been suggested also but I think that option is above my pay grade. I know just enough about computers and smart phones to get me in trouble.
If the was no way to recover pics and files I would just accept my loses and move on but recovery is possible from what I understand. I just don't know why it has to be so difficult.
Thanks in advance for any help I can get.------------------------------------------------------Joe

sorry i cant help with recovering the pics, but as far as your pc recognizing the phone, you have the latest moto drivers installed? (google search them), and you have usb debugging enabled in the developer menu?
both of those would cause your pc to not see the phone if not installed/enabled.
also there are 2 settings in the pull down menu for usb debugging when connected, if one doesnt work, try the other one.

I understand that not everything can be repaired. Contrary to what some people may think I am not frustrated at the help I have received from this site and the many others I have used. I just find it hard to believe that I am the only person who owns one of these phones that ended up with this problem. I am amazed at what this phone can do and I still am learning about all of it's capabilities. That is why I find it hard to believe that I can't access what is setting right there in my hand.
Although I am not a builder of phones by any means it seems to me that a simple recycle bin would give people a second chance after making a mistake.
Thanks for everybody's help so far. I am going to continue looking for a solution and if it is out there and I can find it I will post what I find here so others will not have to search so hard.
You may follow this step by step guide: android photo recovery
hope this helps.

I hope you havent gived up just yet, try this,
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...rICwBA&usg=AFQjCNGFIrepDa3LtwFBhg42_CK5CX3roQ
inside this video there is a link to an app you install on your Windows PC,
It helped me get a lot of info from my phone internal memory (which I didn't deleted by the way, it was a corruption caused by my PC )
Let me know if this helped you a bit.
search Android data recovery on Google
Some Android data recovery software can restore lost pictures from internal memory of Android phone. Here are my suggestions:
(1) Carefully check the "user manual", make sure it can support your Android phone model.
(2) Do not pay for any data recovery software unless it has found the lost photos.
Good luck!

If you use Google, you might have your pictures backed up for you. Not a lot of people put a lot of credibility in this but it's saved my butt when I wiped my phone to try the latest greatest ROM (wiped everything, including SD) forgetting I had my Korean vacation pictures on the phone. Fortunately, I allow Google to back up my pictures.
Trust me, disaster averted. Wife would have killed me dead.
That data recovery thing looks kind of fake to me, but the previous advice is good, don't pay for anything unless it can actually recover your data.

[Q] Smashed my OnePlus One

I dropped my OnePlus One yesterday, saddest day of my life. The screen is on, but it will not register touches.
I need to get my TitaniumBackup off of it to restore on a different phone. I cannot see the Internal Storage through Windows Explorer to copy it to my computer. I don't know if it is because the screen is PIN locked (and I can't get in because it won't register touches) or because USB debugging is on. Regardless, I can't copy it using Windows Explorer.
I do have access to the phone using ADB. So I should be able to pull the TitaniumBackup folder to my PC. My problem is I don't know the exact path to input to pull from on the phone.
Will someone tell me the path to use to pull the folder (and if you are real familiar with ADB the entire command would be helpful too).
Thanks in advance.
Code:
adb pull /sdcard/TitaniumBackup c:\tibu\

If you need to pull anything else or access your phone you can still input touches with adb shell.
You can connect Keyboard / Mouse whatever input device using the USB OTG function.
USB OTG to attach mouse. Run TiBu and back yo ship. Boot into recovery and use the mouse to grab a nandroid. Reboot and plug into the USB with your computer. Pull your data.
I just did this last month with my wife's OPO. $200 later she had a brand new phone fresh from OnePlus. No yellow tint. Great touch screen response.
I just restored the nandroid and she was back in business.

Thanks for the info. Didn't know you could restore nandroid from a different device onto another one. I'll file it for later.
