I'm using the old Metamorph which as mentioned in another thread, supposedly works for 2.2. (Let me know if I should remove the apk.)
And I'm using an old morph file with a .thm (changes 3 png files).
However, when I apply the theme and reboot, I immediately get constant force closes. I have to pull the battery out and restore my backup.
What am I doing wrong? Attached are my files.
I get the same problem using a theme/morph.
I get certificate authentication errors on AndroidManifest.xml when I debug.
However, if I manually insert the new png's I don't get this problem. I can't explain why.
I can't resign the new framework-res.apk either (well I can brut force sign it but then it fails to install).
Am still looking into this. Although I suspect a morpher/themer will solve it before me.
thats because it simply does not work. The 2.2 hasnt got an odex file in the services.jar. Morphs ARE working but the clock and operator text will remain black as there is NO way to bypass that as of now.

We're discussing framework-res.apk though. The attached morph doesn't touch services.jar.
Having said that... services.jar is no longer used (in 2.2) for the text colours, they're all in framework so far as I can tell.

this is correct. I have changed only one png inside framework-res.apk, and tried to morph it.
The phone keeps looping...
works fine for me. Make sure that the images you are replacing are there however my thm from my CM506 still works after i converted the thm to xml

Any ideas?

Anyone tried making the change via an update.zip?

I tried but got a not signed error.
Though I don't think it would work anyway because I tried just pushing the framework apk through adb push, and the same result happened (1000x constant force closes).
Had to restore just the same as when using the morph (again, I didn't do anything but replace 3 png files).
The rom needs to be de-odexed........JF is hopefully working for an update for his app to get this done.
Changes will not take if the odex files are present.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make it work?
ok, i must be missing something here. can anyone one help? everytime i decompile an apk, i'll open the xml i want to make changes to and make the necessary changes. i then recompile the apk. i flash the file to my phone and no changes have been made. because of this i have pulled the same apk back from the phone that i modified, decompiled it and none of the xml changes i made are incorporated.
i've tried removing the resources.arsc as the instructions say and i just get bootloops after flashing. when leaving the resources.arsc the phone boots and no xml changes are made.
can someone help me out with this?
I am working on combining Draya's Red GB theme and stock OTA. I have run into trouble trying to make the 10% battery increments actually display the images. I was wondering if someone could offer assistance.
I have tried decompiling framework-res.apk with apk manager and recompiling it with the changes in stat_sys_battery.xml. Although for some reason when I recompile and install via update.zip I bootloop.
This update.zip currently works perfectly, although it only displays battery in increments of 20%.
Here is a link to the themes current update.zip. http://db.tt/LV6Y9i9

Are u recompiling as a system apk? If you try to recompile with just an apktool command for instance as if it
were an app, it wont recompile correctly.
Sorry if you already knew this, not trying to sound condescending in any way. Just ran into this same issue myself a while ago.

I actually didn't. I have just started trying to learn to do all if these modifications.
I have learned that I can do hex editing to change colors and change the .png's but I am still working on learning to compile my own .9.png's and trying to figure out how to decompile and recompile so that I can modify the xml in standard text vs. hex because I would have no idea how to add my own text to an xml while still in hex form and I believe I read somewhere that if you change the file to much you need to include a new resources file or something.
Do you have any directions in decompiling and recompiling system apk's so that they are editable?
The way I was trying was with apk manager 4.9 as a system apk I believe. I am thinking option 11 or option 9 if I remember right...
I had also switched the apktool version to 1.3.1 because of the issue in 1.3.2 that I read on the apktool page.

I am having some issues getting CM12S apk files decompiled. I am a pretty experienced when it comes to this kind of stuff but for whatever reason I cannot get it to properly function.
I decompile the Settings.apk file from CM12S and all goes well and all, but when I push it to the device it just crashes immediately and displays the generic android icon. It is not the modifications I have done because I have tested just decompiling and recompiling the apk to see if it would work and no luck :/
I'm running into an issue when modifying the systemui.apk to remove S Finder and Quick Connect from the notification area. I decompile, edit, recompile, and replace the file. When I reboot my wallpaper is gone and the notification won't pull down. I'm only changing one line. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm running a stock deodexed rom.
Thanks
