[Q] no update yet allowing non market apps

Hi guys quick question ive had my inspire for over 4 months and keep checking in my menu for the update ive heard about that will allow me to install non market apps. Is there somewhere else i should go to check for it or do i have to wait untill it shows up in my phone update screen ? Tjanks for any help .
You don't need the update. Just go here and follow instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107499
P.S. - You may want to keep a record of what your current mms settings are so you can manually reset them...

[Q] Help please!

With the release of Android 4.4 coming, I'm thinking of flashing the latest Cyanogen rom. But, this is my first time owning an Android phone, or any smart phone at all. So I was wondering:
Can I upgrade my Samsung Galaxy S2 SPH-D710BST to the latest version?
If so will I have to reinstall my apps and etc.?
If I use custom firmware can I still activate and use my phone to call? (This is all assuming I still haven't gotten around to activating my phone)
If so will i have to use Boost Mobile to activate my phone? (As indicated by the model number)
Thanks in advance for any advice!

hey there, welcome to the world of android friend! so if you were to have cm 10.2 (android 4.3) on your device and decide when a stable version of 4.4 comes out you want to flash it, you will have to reinstall all your apps, if you were to come from android 4.1 to 4.2 you wouldnt have to reinstall them. android 4.1-4.3 dont have very much changes, just a little of ui change and hardware changes to use left memory. now to see if your galaxy s2 will get 4.4? nobody will know, i dont think anybody knows if cyangenmod will make more roms, they recently annouced something that sounded like they were making their own android handset. if you use custom firmware, yes you can still use it as your phone and activate it, im sure not allot of people would flash roms to not be able to use their phones . i looked up the model number and it looks like the carrier is boost mobile. hope you figure out what you want man, please if you have any questions i would love to answer them, i love to see the notification numbers go up xD
Thanks! I already knew my phone was from Boost, I was just asking if activating it with them was a MUST. Also my phone has that manufacturer's error with the dropping cell signal repeatedly activating the menu. I tried the fix where you clear the cache partition, but that was only a temporary fix.
So, to fix the phone I have to get it repaired at a Sprint?
If so, how much?
Or, alternatively, could re-imaging the phone with a new "OS" fix it? (Only asking since the cache wipe worked for a while.)

Flashfire app

Hi there.
I just wanted to know does anyone tested flashfire app to work with our device
(Moto g 2015 8/16gb)
I have used the app on amazon fire 7 2015 (ford) device and it's working like charm.
Wonder if anyone tried be brave enough to have a go.
For those who don't know this app let's you install custom ROMs without recovery. Only thing required is root.
No not yet because a tried it with my nvidia k1 tablet and almost bricked the damn thing
flashfire is working
it has been a while since i asked this question and because there was not answer i give it a go.
recently i installed cyanogenmod 13 on my device, because i converted my sdcard as internal storage i couldn't flash ota updates with cyanogenmod recovery. so i decided to come back to twrp which was working fine.
however twrp was for some unknown reason booting only to splash screen and then hang for ages without response. i've tried many tricks but nothing worked. after few attempts of flashing twrp again and again with many build numbers and no success i looked on my fire 7 tablet and there was my answer.
Flashfire app.
http://flashfireapk.com/
Unfortunately because of cyanogenmod os selinux is set to enforcing which is not letting flashfire app to operate.
Good old Google search send me to app that can change this setting to permissive.
https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=selinux&fdid=com.mrbimc.selinux -
This app after acquiring root permission gave me option to change it. After that i was able to use flashfire app properly
I will not get into details how to use this app as there are many tutorials how to do it
here https://youtu.be/p0q0ytHkzoI - to point one
Anyway i was able to flash cyanogenmod 13 without recovery.
now i don't know if it will work on all devices my one is xt1542 uk model.
please let me know if you managed to succeed too. - we need to let people know it is much simpler than using recovery, it can even flash ota's.
Here is a proof

4.4+ apps on 4.2?

Hey so I've been trying to get pokemon go on my android device. I have a 4.2.1 Blu Life One. In order to run pokemon go I need 4.4, or at least my phone to say it is 4.4. I mostly just want to see whether or not my phone is capable of running it, or how well it can run it.
I've tried changing the build prop to say I was a galaxy 4, which runs 4.4, and I've tried doing it on the market helper. Neither seem to change what type of phone google play thinks I have. Any suggestions or help? I'm willing to provide any information that is valuable to helping me out here.

Try factory reset, dont log in, change build prop, then log in to google play?

The most sure fire way of doing is by upgrading your android ,if there's no official update there's bound to be some custom ROM for your phone with android4.4 or higher.
As for changing build.prop the things you need to change are
Ro.build.version.release and api level but changing this could cause problem with already installed apps so pls backup before trying anything.(don't blame me if things don't work out well)

I want to flash a custom ROM on this phone. Is there somethings I need to be aware of?

Hello,
I own a motorola one vision and would like to flash LineageOS 20 on the device. I am creating this thread to know the experiences of people who did something similar. I would like to know if there is any issues with a custom ROM on this device [calling issues, or similar]. I would also like to know if there is a way to revert back to the stock ROM in case I screw up something. I have read several threads about this device but I would like to confirm it again and be provided with some pointers of what I could expect with a custom ROM on this device and how I could revert back to the stock ROM in case I screw something up.
Thanks in advance

I have been using lineageos since last year. I have used lineageos19 and am currently using lineageos20. The user experience is quite good. Everything works fine including calling except the hotspot. Hotspot does work but you have to keep tapping on the toggle to enable the hotspot or you can just restart the phone that's the temporary fix for the hotspot issue. The developer might fix the issue in the future updates. Other than that I didn't find any issue with the ROM and also it doesn't pass the safety net so you have to root your phone and install magisk to bypass safety net so that you can use your banking apps.
There are two versions official and unofficial. Official gets update every week and unofficial one is with the pixel features and google apps. It gets monthly updates.
If anything goes wrong you can install the official software called lenovo rescue and smart assistant on your pc and connect your phone with usb to pc. It can recover your phone to the original android 11 stock ROM.

Hey! Sorry for checking after this long. I don't plan on using any banking apps so it will be fine for me. I already got my unlock code and just have to unlock the device and flash LineageOS. I will do that after backing it up. Thank you for your sharing your experience !!!
