[Q] Info on the latest in flash boxes and unlocking equipment ? - General Questions and Answers

hey guys let me start by saying that i am a computer tech (by trade ahah) that lives in Australia.. i have recently been employed at a mobile phone repair center and have been thrown right into the deep end by my boss lol.. i find repairs on phones very similar to some laptop repairs. it seems to me to be just a more delicate procedure. im not here to promote anything of anykind. but i do need help..
my current skill set does not include flashing and or unlocking. installing an OS onto a phone or doing general software checks and repairs does not seem to be as easy than a computer.
basically my question is about flash boxes. My task set to me is to find one that is able to unlock mobile phones that are in use today in Australia.. from nokias to sonyerricson. U all get my point im sure, Im new to it all. what in everyones opinion is the best flash box or process to be able to learn how to 1st pick one that will do the job i want and secondly be easy to learn how to use. video help or tutorials bought with these boxes? any information i can find out would be very helpful and most useful to me..
thanks alot in advanced guys and im sorry to bore everyone with this pressing issue i have....

KDZ firmware updater sorry im pressed for time but if you lookup kdz updater on here you'll find it

[Q] I need help so I dont brick my phone!

I just got an HTC HD 2 today from a friend, and it already has a version of android on it. I dont know how to replace the android files without messing up the phone. Can someone help or walk me through this?
i know this aint help but have u tried the hd2 section
also is your name from coheed and cambria lol!
I have looked through the section and I cant find anything on how to replace the files. Yes it is. The greatest band ever!
sry i dont know anything about the hd2 and yes sir you are correct i just saw them in dallas for the neverender tour 4 hours of nothing but coheed it was amazing my 3rd show i may add new orleans, little rock, and dallas!
you shld be able to ask the same question in that thread im sure someone will be able to help
If your friend was so generous to give you that nice piece of hardware I´m sure he can guide you to replace the Android OS with that Microsoft crap. Your friend has invested some time and energy in the modification of his phone so he would be interested in having you enjoying it, too, wouldn´t he?
To be able to help it would be useful to know if android rom is nand (ie has replaced the original wm6.5 os) or is running from sd card.
When you boot up the phone, does magldr load?
I would suggest you do go over to the hd2 forum and look at the sticky threads, tey have all the info you will need to change/update android to something newer or even change os completely to say wp7?
If your droid is nand, it is very simple to update, just head over to the HD2 nand forum
Cheers.
Thank you everybody for being kind and not throwing noob slanders at me. The friend who gave me the phone actually bought it off of someone who put android on it haha so this nice phone is a hand-me-down for sure.

[Q] Rank beginner to android. how to?

I have a knowledge of computers, that being said, I have none of the Android system. A friend unlocked my Lenovo A750, but I am still unable to use Google Play.
So I thought it was time to learn how to do this unlocking and rooting thing myself.
OK simple question: how do I start? any web sites that take someone who only knows that if you push the right number of buttons in the right order you can talk with your friends.. ( if they have a telephone)
Really, I have no idea even what to ask. So,I need to learn from the beginning. TIA for your advice. I saw posts to tell me how to do things for specific phones, but I do not know the terminology, or where to begin; in other words it all over my head.
PS I am an expat in China, so please give multiple URls, and answers as I will probably be locked out of many that you supply.
I would really like to be able to unlock a cheepo "Sunup" Chinese phone I can afford to brick. ( learned that word from an old Iphone I had stop working for me when I tried to unlock it) Then work on the Lenovo, and finally on a Motorola ME 525 ( the Motorola is the wife's... Id just as soon brick my Lenovo and several others belonging to me, than her's.... the consequences are understood for doing that) .

hello guys
i got my note 10.1 few weeks ago it aready jb out of box well im kinda new to this android world i had sony xperia sola be4 but never done anythin with software now with kali linux out and is for note 10.1 (used to be a big fan of bt ) i want to have it on my note but im worried about the warranty and so is theres anyway to do that without voiding the waranty ?? wish i could find some help around here .
thxx in advance
Any time you fool around with the OS, unless official, you are out of warranty.
As you will need to root your tab to run linux then yes its definately out of warranty....
Go to the threads on flashing linux and it will tell you the pros and cons and possible pitfalls of installing it.
Be prepared for a bit of reading and ask any questions in that thread, you'll get answers faster....
Thx for replying , so if anythin happened id throw it away ? Or isnot it recoverable ? Cant be reversed ?
That's what this place is about, fooling around with this sort of stuff....
If there's life in the tablet and you can get to recovery or boot loader screen it is generally recoverable. How much time and effort you want to put into this is up to you...
Black screen with no power = hard brick and requires either j-taggig or service center...
If you have a hardware problem you might be able to get it fixed under warranty, not commiting to that, but you definately won't get warranty service on software problems unless you can restock...
And before doing anything do some research, the info's out there. Ask a question but be sure to show you have done some searching or you will get rumbled...

did you spend ANY time to search on the forum before you posted? IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.
technology not compatible, despise it is near the same devices are unique to run windows or android, you should be able to sell your w phone and get an android version
also keep in mind that you might not be happy with the android version. if used to windows phone you will find the higher battery drain under android quite disturbing.

Woot !!!
Hello guys,
Seriously, I'm currenlty struggling to get one, as they're only availabel in the U.S. and nobody wants to ship to my location...
If you really have one of these and want Android, then please make things simple for everybody : contact me to sell yours and get an Android model !
On the other hand, i agree it would be fun to be able to run an SD Android ROM like we did on the HD2, but if you're looking for a NAND ROM, justs swap for a regular M8 that's available everywhere !
P.S. : I'm serious about wanting to buy an M8 for Windows... AT&T unlocked, as we're using only SIM cards here. Thanks ! ^^
Isn't there any swap section on this forum, btw ?
As a FYI to anyone that happens to be messing around in this space: I've intentionally bricked my (Win) M8 into QDLoader 9008 mode, but haven't gotten much further as the device doesn't appear to fully implement Qualcomm's Sahara protocol, or at least implements it differently than any examples for other devices that I've found - it will do the hello handshake and a mode switch but returns some sort of error after that. I'm out of relevant docs and examples on Sahara and firehose though, so I'm pretty much done unless I decide and manage to hook up JTAG.
There was a poster in another thread who said they were able to install android this way, but then never reported back with their "tutorial". As such, they may very well have been lying, but unless someone who understands the M8's Sahara support chimes in, it's still a possibility. Not trying to get anyone's hopes up though, as I'd say it's still unlikely given the lack of dev effort for this phone.
any updates?
Anybody hear about any update on this topic? My friend and I are willing to work on a project to see if we can make it possible. We just need to know where to start. As of now, I have the HTC M8 unlocked to sideloads apps and what not. Anything helps. Being negative never gets you anywhere. Being positive opens new doors. Thanks for your time.

.
Checking in for any updates. I got handed this phone in an insurance upgrade.
Hi, I can't find the other 3d about the porting, but today I was thinking about the mi4.
If you remember, the MI4 LTE can switch between windows mobile and android... maybe if we study the tools and the code behind that device we might modify/create a tool or (maybe) at least find something interesting that we can apply to our htc one m8.
I'm not a dev and my english is very bad, but I wanted to share with to all of you my thoughts.

[Completed] First timer, need a walk thru of sorts.. Basically i bought a sprint note 4 sm-n910p

And did a factory reset. When I did this, of course it had reactivation lock on, asking me to login to the Samsung account last used on device. of course I don't have, because well I bought the phone thinking I was getting a good deal :/ anyways, like I said im definitely new to all of this and to my understanding although it was a SPRINT device, it is possible to convert it to be used with a TMOBILE sim card and service.. I was told that rooting the device was what I needed to do inorder to use my TMOBILE service on the device. Which is exactly what ive been searching these forums and trying to get a straight answer on how to. Now the next problem is, I decided to check the IMEI and as you may have guessed, yes is indeed bad. It says reported lost/stolen. I know this also is only another hurdle on my road to happiness. Now, my question is, How do I go about flashing to a new IMEI, rooting my device, and going gsm to become tmobile compatable??? Please help somebody, thanks for reading all this I really am in a pickle and really don't want to be out the 300$ I paid for the phone. thanks
Hello Dear ,
