I am trying to watch a video podcast that is from an iTunes podcast. I found the link for RSS and used beyondpod to download.
When I try to play the video it says unsupported device.
I have tried a few video players and they all say the same....

I can recommend you an app called "rockplayer". It runs subtitles and allows you to play almost all files available in the world!!

rock player is paid, it's not free
try mplayer that one is free under the GPL open source
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890761
but development stopped because the guy that was porting was just being a *** beep *** and didn't want to release the source codes
mplayer doesn´t support all the formats... at least .wmv it cant.
for .wmv there is vplayer trial
Rockplayer is the best!!
Using the yahoomail app,i tried to open 3 videos that a friend sent to me, they are all wmv, less than 2mb, but I can only view 1 of them, the other 2 it say video file unsupported, is it the phone or the way the video was compressed? I'm pretty sure I can watch them fine on the computer, anyone has any problem playing video files with the stock player?

Supported video formats for T-Mobile G2x are DivX/Xvid/MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV.
And supported audio formats for T-Mobile G2x are MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+.
So it's not clear why your WMV files didn't work, probably they're encoded strangely. I play MP4 and M4V videos no problem.
Try to download it on the computer then transfer it to the phone, or try to re download it with yahoo app on wifi.

Is there an app that can play a ripped dvd that is stored on the SGT?
That depends entirely on the codec you used for your ripped DVD. Have you transcoded the movie, is it a .vob, or have you kept it in and .iso?

I'd be using folders with the usual dvd structure and with .vob files or .iso. There's no problem playing transcoded files of course. Thanks for any info.
Have you tried the Market?
i understand your request, but i think you would be better off encoding the video to a recognized file. You can get DVD quality video at a fraction of the space leaving you more room for other stuff or more video.
But if you still want DVD folder support try DAROON PLAYER
it's free at the Android Market just search "DAROON"
hope it works for you i haven't tried it.

is there app a can see subtitles? standard player can't see subtitles?
Aftering rooting with Stock, my video player is requesting that I open WiFi in order to play a movie from my sd card.
Has anyone else had this issue and what was done to correct it?
Thank you in advance
Sounds like you are using the connected media app on your phone instead of the gallery or watch (it maybe videos, im running bamf gingerbread). I just tested mine, and when using the connected media app and selecting videos, I get a prompt asking me to connect to wifi.

Do you mean a connected media like VLC?
No, I believe all sense roms have an app called connected media. Try looking for it in your app drawer.

Roger...Got it. I down loaded MoboPlayer app and now I am using it
excursively as media play (movie player). Do you have any other suggestions for media player apps?
Thank you again!
I use v player. Simple to use and has all the standard screen ratios. Rockplayer lite irritated me with the damn pop up everytime I tried to use it.
Ok, I will play around with V player again. Thank you very much!
