[Q] after install can;t copy file to folder - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help! anyone got this problem before? after install software can;t copy file (PC to SD) or view folder in my pc, must normal reboot then i can view or copy file to the install folder (USB connect)...i try use WiFi File Explorer PRO, then after install software i can view the folder but can't upload file...anyone know how to view folder and upload or copy file after install new soft ?? thanks u very much~..

When you say Install software, do you mean you have installed a custom ROM and NOW you have said problem??
ALSO, a little detail would also be helpful;
-What Model do you have?? (MZ600,601,605...)
-3G, WiFi only etc
-Honeycomb Version, ROM Version etc....
all these details help us ascertain what the problem may be, but File transfer issues are USUALLY 9/10 permission errors

Do you mean Samsung Omnia
Regardless - I checked out the game and believe it is a Java based game - I downloaded it and it was a Java file in a ZIP file or RAR File as it showed on my computer. All you would need to do is extract the JAVA - .jar file from the zip folder and transfer that to your device - With my device I would transfer either through bluetooth, WIFI or activesinc and I would place it in a folder with the rest of my java apps then run it- Not sure about your device - basically whatever works for you. Then you would just find it using your file explorer and tap it to play it or open your Java app and select the game- as long as your device supports Java games.
From what I have seen it is an older game so even if you can get it to run - it might not run properly on your device or even look right with your screen resolution. Hope this helps
Here is a tutorial on cab files. (what most installations are)
If it is a java based game then the process is similar, copy and run.

[Q] I'm new to this world. How do I install apps from here?

Hi. I hope I'm posting this in the right section, but how would I install apps on my T-Mo MyTouch 3G Slide, that are offered on this or any other forum? Do I download them to my PC and first start the installation there, somehow? Or how would I do it??
I'm very new to this whole Android world. I just bought my phone.
Thanx for the help!!
Applications in this forum usually comes in the form of .apk's. An apk is an installer file for Android and must be run from the phone.
So you have two options when you find programs here on this forum:
1. You download the file on your PC, connect the phone to your PC and mount the SD-card, copy the file over and run it from your phone
2. Browse to the forums via your phone and download them directly and run them
It can be done via dropbox, chrome2phone, email etc as well if you want to

The file that I download, copy in to any folder (Programs ect...) on to your SD card and run the file from the phone, correct? What is the format of that file needs to be? It won't be an *.exe right? What format do I make sure the correct file is? Is there any other ways? Just asking
Thank You!!
You can put it anywhere on the SD-card, just be sure you have some sort of file manager from the market and remember where you put it After that you just run it and it should install (if you get several options when you run the file, the correct one to run it with is "Package Installer").
The files will be in the format programname.apk

Huawei U8150/T-Mobile Comet Branded Autorun.iso

BRANDED AUTORUN.ISO FOR HUAWEI U8150/T-MOBILE COMET
You know that ugly "Mobile Partner" CD-ROM drive that pops up every time you plug in your phone? Now, that's fixed.
Say goodbye to Huawei's broken English, ugly file/folder names, and distinctively un-branded virtual CD-ROM and spice it up with a custom autorun.iso! The installation couldn't be easier, either:
1. Download the ISO of your choice (either the T-Mobile version or the generic Huawei version), unzip it, and rename it to "autorun.iso" (without quotes ).
2. Plug your phone in and copy the new autorun.iso to your SD card. Unmount the SD card from your computer.
3. Install Root Explorer, if you don't have it already.
4. In Root Explorer, move the new autorun.iso from your SD card to /data/cdrom/, backing up the original (yes, the original one's attached for those who "lost" their backup ).
5. Reboot your phone for the changes to take effect.
Enjoy your fresh new virtual CD-ROM!
Thanks.. now using the generic one.
Is the T-Mobile one any better?

Great! I'm glad you like it.
No, the only difference between the two are the CD label, the icon, and the first line in "Readme.txt." Otherwise, they're exactly the same.
If you would like a customized one for your carrier, just ask and I'll see what I can do.....
Hiya Steven. I need this and the links are bad. any help getting this ISO?
MediaFire Download Links
The links seem to work for me, make sure you're unzipping the ZIP file!
Even so, you can also download the ISOs at the links below:
Huawei Generic Edition:

T-Mobile Branded Edition:

Original ISO (for the people who need to restore it and "lost" their backup ):

I'm not sure of the situation with that ROM, but if you retry the above guide and it still doesn't work, I'm not sure where to go from there. Sorry!

[Q] Help with "Stock Android 2.2 Keyboard"

Hello, I recently upgraded to Android 2.2 (Froyo). I was unhappy with not having the (all so accustomed to) Android keyboard and began researching alternatives. I stumbled upon this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780683
I downloaded the file (.zip file) and succesfully got it on my phone. However, I do not know how to go about using a 'root' or what a 'root' is, and I also don't know how to copy the
"/system/app/LatinIME.apk
/system/lib/libjni_latinime.so"
to the system folder.
Any helpful responses will be greatly appreciated.
U r far far away from doing this....!!!!
Rooting is firstly necessary... Its the process where u get access to ur system files by deleting some system files via softwares and/or programming skills.. It also void your manufacturer's warranty..
Do not root only for installing a keyboard..!!! Its a big thing and not for beginners..!!
Then again u have to install custom recovery which is, kind of like bios in computer!! Via custom recovery u can install zip files!!
Good day

Thanks for your replies. I don't necessarily want to void my warranty- being a construction worker and all, phones need to be able to be replaced cheaply- so is there any other possible way to get a free keyboard like the Android 2.1 one? I found a free 7.1x keyboard that was good and easy to use, but you had to pay in order to get options (such as turning off that incessant tapping sound).
Any good free keyboards anybody can point me to that are simple to install?
try this link..
scroll at the middle of the page.. u will see a download option.. download those keyboard apps.. it can also run or other devices besides htc.. download your correct resolution keyboard (download all and see which works best for you)
you will download a zip file.. install the two apk's BY BROWSING TO THAT FILE USING A FILE MANAGER AND THEN CLICKING THE FILE...
GO HERE TO DOWNLOAD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=5475283
INSTALL THE ONE WHICH FITS YOUR RESOLUTION
TRY THE LAST ONE 1ST(LOWER RESOLUTION KEYBOARD)
AFTER U SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THE TWO SOFTWARE GO TO settings->language & keyboard and then check mark the htc ime keybord..
then suppose u want to use it to text.. then open messaging-> new message
then press and hold the blank area where u type ur text.. select input method and click htc_ime keyboard..
also u may go to settings from the messaging and select htc_ime to use the keyboard..
GOOD DAY
Oh yeah!!
Unzip the files u download to your phone's memory card 1st!
I have the .apk files in my SD card. How do I install them?
browse to the files using a file manager.. the file manager is provided in every phone..
now go to the files.. and install them one by one.. to install select the file.. that is touch the files and then press install..
Thank you kindly. I should have mentioned I had a Galaxy S Vibrant. The one I downloaded did have a resolution too low but I guess i'll just try out a few more and go from there.
Again, thank you.

What is your provider ? I'll make some search about it
I found somthing
It is a list of all the stock roms by country
samsdroid.com/2011/11/samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830-stock-rom.html
i downloaded the rom from samsdroid transfered to sd but when i tried to flash it (in CWM) ,there was no such file shown...!! what should i do!!??
maybe it was a tar file meant for flashing thru odin??
Did the file that you downloaded has a .zip file extension behind ? , if it doesn't , add in the .zip . Sometimes , CWM can't detect because mainly of the file extension . It might also be of your antivirus , i've heard of some cases , that people's antivirus started randomly deleting files off , thinking that they're malware and viruses .
