So the last two weeks my yahoo mail app has not been pushing any of my mail messages, I have to open the app to retrieve them. I have validated that the push service is running, anyone else getting this?

The push service alone is not what pushes mail. The push and mail sync services work together to push mail to your device. I've seen this issue, as have others. After a while, the mail sync service will stop (for whatever reason), which stops the mail being pushed. Opening the app will restart the service, which is why mail pops up and may even push correctly for a while again. I've found that it doesn't consistently deliver mail, as the mail sync service can't seem to stay running.
uninstall the app and redownload it. I have heard somewhere that yahoo switches server settings every so often and it will cause sync issues. only solution when it happens is to totally uninstall and redownload

Has anyone had a problem with sending Email? My captivate has been fine up until this point, but for some reason starting today I can recive emails, send txt and mms and everything but Emails just sit there and say sending. I am rooted but thats about it. Anyone have any suggestions or seen this before? I tried doing the hard reset and all but nothing seems to be working. I flashed back to my nandroid back up and still not sending. Thanks.
Chris
You talking from the native Email client or the Gmail client?
If you're talking native Email client, try "updating" your IMAP/POP (or whatever you're using) outbound settings and then resend. See if refreshing the connection settings fixes anything.
BTW, this is the first I've read of this kind of issue...I am not seeing it.
Make sure the outgoing SMTP server settings are not biting you.
If you have the outgoing server settings for your wireless carrier's SMTP but are transmitting via WiFi it can cause a problem. The opposite is also true as in you have set the outgoing smtp for your ISP but are not using WiFI at the moment.
I mention this because it is a frequent cause of people losing outgoing email ability after setting up their accounts and then logging into a wireless access point.
...Lets say your wireless providers outgoing server is CWMX.com (at&t) but you are connected to your home wireless router that is using Time Warner Cable. If your phone is using a local network connection such as your home wireless router and not sending data through AT&T's network it will not be able to find CWMX.com. It would need to be set for your ISP outgoing SMTP or switch back to AT&T network for data.
Im not guaranteeing this is your problem but this would be my first guess with the little information provided.
Sorry for lack of details. It is actually the Gmail client that will not let me send emails. When i set up the native Email system I can both send and Recieve. Its just when I use the Gmail client that it just sits there and says sending, but never sends. I can recieve email all day long in the Gmail client.
1. Do you happen to be using Juice Defender or and automatic task killer?
2. Did this happen for the first time AFTER you restored a backup?
3. Have you tried clearing data/cache?
I have cleared data/cache, it did not happen after the back up it was before, and I do use a task killer. Its just odd because even maildroid and k-9 will send emails. Its only my gmail app that will not send them.

Google haas been making changes to the gmail servers recently. There is a thread in the Google support forums about it (don't have the link handy) that may have something to do with it.

I was referring to the task killer as a possible issue. Some people have had problems with task killers shutting down email sync. I' lost for ideas. Hope you can get it worked out. Though I have not experienced this, you definitely are not the only person with the issue.
Good luck!
I have had the same problem. It does send just not right away particularly emails with attachments. I sent an MP3 yesterday to a friend and it sat in the outbox for over and hour. I send a one line email today and went out instantly
email issues
I have been trying to send via aol and cant get the cell to send. It worked initially. i think i had set it up with one aol account and then switched to another aol account and the system isnt working since.
I dont know what to do... but i do get emails on the cell. its very confusing and i have checked the smap ...any ideas for me to try? also cant find how to sync cell with pc without clearing out the harddrive. Ive only had this for abour 1 month and already have a number of photos that i dont want to lose not to mention all the contacts!
I noticed since I installed the ICS leak about 2-3days ago, Im able to receive my email from exchange just fine, but cannot send email, they just get stuck in the Outbox. I just noticed this today after seeing a ton sitting there. I can continue to receive emails no problem.
This is an exchange setup, so obviously there is no incorrect outbound mail server setting like SMTP or IMAP.
So on a hunch I decided to add this exchange account to my iPad, and send a test mail, and it worked! So for some reason the phone refuses to send out any email from my exchange account but has no problem receiving mail into it.
I also have a GMAIL account which is setup using the native Gmail app and that works flawless, no issues there, its just the native email account with exchange now that seems to have an issue.
Anyone else having this issue? Ive tried to delete the account, re-add it, no change. Then went to Application and cleared all data/cache, no change.

never heard of this issue, but what about k9 as an alternative
K9 doesnt support Exchange Activesync yet, it only supports Exchange Webdav (which is older Exchange server implementations).

I know its definitely the native email app that has issues with sending the mail through Exchange ActiveSync. I just downloaded Enhanced Email from the market and put my same credentials in for my corporate email and was able to send out mail with no issues. Wondering if anyone else uses the native ICS email app with Exchange Activesync has issues.
I had that problem with the native email app yesterday with a recovery based ICS install.
After messing around with it for a while, I did find that the way the e-mail app is working is really odd/seems to require some of the bloatware I typically freeze. I went ahead and did another factory reset of settings in CWM and wiped cache and such a few times, and it did start working.
After the reset and not touching anything, I got the exchange setup to work with both the exchange server at work, and Hotmail's version of it.
I am getting same issue. I tried delete and adding account again. It works for few hours and after that it starts accumulating emails in outbox.
I have not factory reset again yet, as I would need to install all apps again
I ended up reverting back to GB. I have to be able to reply to work email. There is something wrong at the framework or core in this leak. Cause even other email apps like Enhanced Email had the same issue. Worked fine for a few hours then stopped.

You can try the newer email apps at

Was seeing the same issue, messages in the outbox that wouldn't send until manual refresh. Changed the account setting 'Auto resend times' from 3 to 'No limit' and problem solved!
We all know by now that the phone has been weird with emails. Sometimes the push email works and sometimes it doesn't. My main issue was my Gmail. I have 3x Gmail and 2x Work.
This is what I did. So far, it's working 100%.
Please know, this will only work if you DON'T use the Gmail app.
1. Factory wiped the phone. Once started up, do not add your Google account yet.
2. Go into Settings and Apps and disable all your bloatware while you're here and make sure you disable the Gmail app. When you get out of it, it'll reload Sense. After this, go ahead and reboot your phone to be safe.
3. Now go ahead and go to Settings and Accounts and add your Google account. With Gmail disabled, it will not sync your email. Your choice if you want to sync Contacts.
4. Next, setup your Gmail via Microsoft Exchange via server method. Email and Username is your full email address. Leave Domain blank. The server address is m.google.com
5. When finished, set it up Push Email and not Smart Sync. If you did not sync your Contacts via Google, you can do it here also. Same with Calendar and Tasks.
Done!

With this method, I haven't had any issues...YET
Please comment if this works well for you.
Maybe we can see if it's just Gmail accounts in general or any Microsoft Exchange accounts too.
Please NO iOS vs Android statements
Or you can do what I did and go into your advanced wifi settings and enable Best Wifi Performance. Since I enabled this my push notifications have been coming instantly.

I had the issue regardless on WiFi, 4G, or LTE.
I am on LTE 100% so I prefer my faster connection
I know that this thread is about not using the Gmail app but I saw on the other thread about the email issues that some people complained about the Gmail app being slow too with getting push notifications.
I am a first time Android user and I have noticed that it usually takes several minutes for my phone to notify me in the GMail app. Is this normal across Android phones or does this push notification bug also affect the GMail app too?

This is NOT normal. The native gmail app should receive emails within 5-10 seconds (max) of when they would show up in your account if you were using a computer.

What worked for me was extremely simple. After I setup the accounts, I went back into "Accounts & Sync" and under each account, I simply toggled "Sync Mail" off, then back on. After I did that to each account, push was enabled and working on all accounts.

So does anyone know of any solution to fix the issue for the Gmail app?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
My Gmail app doesn't push all my mail. When I check my gmail on my laptop, there is still unread mail in my inbox???
So I saw that my battery was drained by around 30% in two hours and I checked the battery and the email exchange was eating most of the batteries. I went to settings and clicked corporate and saw that one of my email accounts kept syncing and wouldn't stop. Does anyone know how to stop it? Other than deleting my account. I'd like to have it on push to receive emails.

No, it was push, automatic.
This is the email for my university so the only way to add it is by using exchange
I have two other accounts with hotmail and their isn't any issue with those.
I'm wondering if it is just an issue with the exchange?
When you go into settings > corporate, you usually see "Last synced date time" but with my exchange account, it keeps flashing back and forth between "last synced date (current time)" and syncing. It keeps doing this unless I change push(automatic) into something else, or remove the account/don't sync the email from it
Your not the only one having problems like this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512237
I'm able to connect and send/receive email, but it won't push the read status from the phone back to the server.
I have this exact same problem and I cannot figure it out. I've removed all my exchange e-mails with this e-mail client and it has helped
For what it's worth i'm using the exchange email APK that does not require a PIN and I have absolutely no extra battery drain from my Exchange account and i've been using it since I got my Nexus 5.
It is set to push as well...
Do you have a link to down load it? Are you referring to the exchange apk or just the email apk? Is it still email 6.0?
Thanks for any information that you can provide.

Anyone using the standard built-in Mail app? Perhaps specifically linked to an Exchange account? I noticed if I go back from a outgoing message that gets saved in the drafts folder, when I try to resume the Mail app repeatedly crashes when I try to navigate and open it to the continue.
I use the mail app with exchange and have zero issues. I don't have any drafts so I can't confirm your bug but I have yet to have force close for mail app. I am on Clean rom fwiw.

I'm on SKYFALL 2.6 and use the mail app with an exchange account with no problems. Are you able to send/receive? Does the outgoing mail automatically go to drafts? Maybe a server setting?

Send and receive works great. If I type a new email without interuption it also sends fine. However, it's when I exit out of type the mail, and then getting automatically saved to drafts is where the problem creaps. Can you try that and see what happens to you?
I'm still running stock (waiting for stable CM11).

I tried to send an e-mail (worked) then I tried to save an e-mail to draft and then send which also worked. I tired writing an e-mail and leaving the app and the e-mail was saved to drafts which I was able to send shortly thereafter.
