for this one, go to your gmail account [web] and select "Contacts" and find "More actions" button, under this button..., click "Find & merge duplicates..."
that will take care of your duplicate contact numbers.

I guess google will be your friend ^_^ [hint: search: benefits on rooting android]
Your question about rooting almost applies to all devices and not just this phone alone ^_^
others can add as well...

Download any easy to use system app uninstaller. I used Root Uninstaller, even though it gets kinda buggy sometimes. Back up your apk before uninstalling it, in case something goes wrong and you need it. Also freeze the apk if you think that uninstalling it will cause serious problems.
you can uninstall any bloatware ifyou have any, or other system apps which chomp away at your battery life with their running services. just be careful not to remove anything important.
Download a CPU app which changes your CPU frequency to conserve battery. SetCPU is what I use. SetCPU also provides a pretty detailed explanation to how to use their apk on their website. While you're at it, you can download an overclocking apk as well if you think it lags sometimes when you play games or have alot apps running.
I use the apk, Milestone Overclock. It is simple and works.
This is what I've done after rooting, just giving a few suggestions.

Thanks....Can we increase our app memory? Can I install more than 175mb?

For the app memory problem, download any kinda app that has the keyword APP 2 SD/ Apps2sd. Theres several free apps out there that can do this, and paid apks floating around the internet as well. This is just one of them: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd&hl=en
It moves your applications into your SD so that you can free up your internal phone storage. The downside of that is sometimes if you connect phone to your usb, you will have no access to the apk on your phone.
ex. if you move texting app to SD, when your computer has access to USB, the cannot work.
So, just move accordingly. Not really much of a big deal.

Hello
Just checked. App 2 Sd is incmpactable with my Milestone XT 720
Now, how rooting or any app help can help me?
P.s - I am sorry to keep bugging u. I hope, m in compliance with forum rules

App2SD only works in 2.2 or higher. I think you're running the stock 2.1 with root? If so, look for an app called Link2SD. You will have to partition your SD card with an additional FAT partition, but otherwise it's very similar to App2SD (it's actually superior in many respects, really).

Thankyou. Yea...All Milestone XT 720 are 2.1 . I have installed Link2SD...Now, how to create partition? Btw, is rooting important for this app n procedure?

search for reverendkjr on youtube and watch his videos. there is a step by step video for almost every question you have asked.

Hello, I have tried looking up for that video by reverendkjr...but couldnt find. Can u plz give me the link
What I have also observed that He has updated mobile from 2.1 to froyo... Have u done that?>? Should I follow that?? advice

Read my thread this will help you. Androidiani has an option to remove the camera click.
Also reverend is a valued member of this forum and his videos have helped all of us. Please refrain from calling something you dont understand fishy.

You can get rid of the camera click sound by going into /system/media/audio/ui and delete the camera_click.oog file or rename it to something else (like .goo) so you don't have to delete it.
Obviously make backups before doing this though.

android.process.media force close! FIX

I know some of you have been having problems with a force close message that looks like this: Android.process.media is not responding please force close or retry.
I have done search after search only to find one way that ultimately fixes this annoying every second force close message.
1. Make sure your phone is rooted.
2. Using a file explorer of your choice go into the directories as follows:
/system/app/
3. Delete this file from the menu, mediaprovider.apk
4. Force close messages will now stop. Horray!
If you have questions post them. I will do my best to answer.

i tried it on my G2 and it hasn't worked yet. Had to give ES FileExplorer root.
Have a great morning!
..........
media.process force close issue rooted htc desire
I fixed this problem without any further issues by clearing the download cache - I'm just as surprised as you.
staplesdroid said:
Yea like I said you must have a rooted phone!!!. Did it work after you gave es file root?
Another great program in root explorer. You can get it from ww w. 4shared .co m
Go there type in rootexplorer .apk and it will have multiple downloads. Just pick one and run it.
You can get all the paid apps for free like that. Just type in .apk after the app you want is typed in for example: rootexplorer .apk or irunner .apk or androidbanking .apk..... you get the picture?

Or you could get it from the market, and pay for it, and support the developers. But if you want to be a thief, that's your decision.

+ 1, a one time payment of $4 for something useful is nothing.

why patronize piracy?
I live in Asia, where pirated software/apps are more prevalent than legit ones. That is because software like Microsoft Windows is economically out of reach for the man on the street.
But $3.99? Come on! We shouldn't expect devs to continue churning out useful code without getting paid for it. If the developers of Titanium Backup or Root Toolbox had decided early on that it wasn't worth it to develop apps for Android or WinMo, we'd all still be in the Dark Ages of the cellphone era. Making custom ROMs is not the same. For one, many of them were based on stock firmware--which were made by highly-paid software engineers at phone makers in the first place.
What the Android Market offers for free, I download for free. When it has a price and I need it, I pay for it. Simple as that.
1) the fix listed above worked perfectly for me. (HD2, gingerbread, CM7)
2) paying for an app is the right thing to do. free ones are preferred, of course. you know it, i know it, they know it. support open source, support the community. pay it forward.

Yep, this is actually a horrible fix. For me, it did nothing except stop me from accessing any of my media. So if you don't care about listening to music, viewing any photos, having ringtones, viewing video you have taken etc, this MIGHT work for you. I had to dig out the mediaprovider.apk from the .zip of my ROM and replace it.
I fixed mine by restoring my last Titanium Backup ("restore all apps with data"). Whatever was corrupted was restored back to working order. I understand that not everyone has Titanium Backup, but it has save my a$$ a couple of times now when an app or system file has started acting weird. Root your phone and get TB, it's so worth it.
EDIT: OK, so the problem came back after I replaced mediaprovider.apk, so apologies for that. I booted into recovery and did a factory/data reset, then restored my Titanium Backup, and all seems to be good now. Again, I understand this may not help everyone, but it worked for me, and it avoids deleting apk files without fully understanding what effect it will have.
Help
I have a droid 2 global. i tried deleting the file and it says i cant. is there anything else i can do? i cant access my pics, music, or market.

I had the same problem with my Asus transformer. In addition the default Music player did not work anymore as it used to (played the wrong numbers).
The above solution did not work for me (I could get to the files mentioned without rooting).
Sofar I got the problem solved as followed.
1. I found an new version 4 of the Music player (com.google.android.misic.4.0.9.apk) and installed this version
2. This by itself did not solve anything, but now I could reinstall the factory original version and now everything is OK.
No forced closing anymore and the default player works as before
I hope it stays this way.

alfred
I've just updated to latest Oxygen on my Huawei U8800, and was having that same issue.
After reading this post, I've updated with TB the application "[Playlists] Media Storage 2.3.7 (10)" and it solved it.
It seems that my custom playlists of the music app were causing it...

Looks interesting, gonna give it a try. But why does it require so much SD space?
It doesn't work for me. And I also had the huge cpu usage after closing the app until I restarted the phone.
I have a suggestion. You know how the WifiKiller app is able to detect the card manufacturer? For e.g. "Apple Computer" would show up with the ipaddress? Is it possible to implement something like this

3 'New' cool apps

Hey guys,
I just wanted to inform you about two apps I found recently that appear to boost performance and battery life a bit.
The one that boosts performance is a better and more efficient version of Seeder. It's called SeFix and (as opposed to Seeder) really does seem to work!
The second (the battery booster) is actually way more versatile:
It's called Greenify and it lets you disable apps to run in the background.
Eg. I set it to decline the Google Maps request to run in the background all the time; because as we all know, Maps often sucks somewhere near 7% of the battery.
(However, it needed me to root uninstall it and then install it from the play store, so it wasn't a system app anymore)
Anyway: I hope this helped and that it makes your device nicer to use (like it did for me)
Last but not least: as you are probably aware: Orange Backup is a backup app that lets you do complete (CWM or TWRP style backups) without having to go into the recovery!
Really awesome.
I guess you could use it for Facebook too, to keep it from running in the background all the time.
Or... You could also *not* use Facebook and switch to cooler social media, such as Google+

Never happened to me.
Are you using data2sd?
Maybe it's confused because of the switch?
I can only say that it works like a treat for me and that it makes these backups quite fast considering that it doesn't need to boot into recovery.
Have you tried contacting the developer? He's called snoopy333 and is to be found in the original thread. Maybe he can tell you what's going on?
Thank you for sharing the existence of greenify.
EXCELLENT
How do I block the playstore?
Titanium Backup does not turn me or makes user application and remains in system application.

yes I installed. was easy except I had to save the .so file as no known program that I could find would open or install it including Snappea which I normally use for my apk files, 7zip, and Free File Viewer. so I mounted my phone, opened it as a viewable drive and copy/pasted it to my app folder on my sd. installed the other file via Snap, change permissions....followed the instructions, basically.
this launcher is sweet. it gives you lots of options, is easy to use, can uninstall apps and I don't know what all else without ever having to open your settings. the only complaint I might have would be that the icons on the folders are very small, a bit hard to see, but not a big deal as I think we all tend to memorize locations and content in our smart or regular type folders.
as far using it to install other roms, I have tried a bit using ROM Toolbox Pro and ROM Manager and no success as they want confirmation for CRM, and as I am sure you already know, there is no recovery currently available that I know of for the Event.
Also, as I viewed the files included in the download for the launcher, it came with and internet shortcut to SuperCharger, and I am gonna try that next, as it is supposed to work with all mods, stock or otherwise. description of this installer/launcher describes ability to use for the install of other mods but I need more information. this is the first android I have rooted and I am not ashamed to admit I am a green noob. I wish somebody would talk down to me and explain a bit better. as I peruse the forums i find a wealth of information but it is hard to put into action with some of the abbreviated instructions so prevalent from topic to topic. if you install and figure a way to mount jellycream, please advise, as i could use all the guidance available. much thanks and have fun. i will kudo this guy and see if he will point me in the right direction.
problem
A problem has emerged when I connect Event and turn on usb debug and mass storage. when the sd card becomes unavailable it turns all user/non-stock icons to little green android men on home page and changes app names to developer names. disconnect and reboot does not return icons or normal app names. tried to use Titanium Pro to restore but that didn't work either. any ideas?
bummer
I have tried everything, disabling stock launcher, and re-installing TouchWiz Home .apk 3 times, but every time I mount my phone as an external drive to load music all my non-stock apps turn to little green android men with mostly unidentifiable names. too bad as this was sweet. I am bummed out. nobody seems to be interested in this thread. would be nice to hear from developer... is there something I am doing wrong? ive checked the install on the .so, permissions... don't understand. please help. thanks. gonna have to uninstall in the mean time ;(

a kernel or something else for ram speed!

i want a kernel or something else for xperia e single to high speed of my ram! i think its 512mb! please give me something!! please!!!!!!
please answer anyone
This could mean two things: or you want to make your RAM faster which is impossible, or you want more RAM.
You do realise RAM is hardware? Data gets loaded in and processed super fast. When you want to drink water, you put it in a glass. See RAM as your glass. The data(applications) need something to be in for them to work.
Now, you can't increase the amount of real RAM. Yes, you could remove your motherboard from the phone and try to lime a 2 GB DDR3 stick to it. Chances are this won't work.
What you could use is something called swap. You create a partition on your SD card and let your phone use it as RAM. The problem here is that even a class 10 SD card doesn't have the speed of RAM. So it won't do much and your SD card will be burnt up quickly.
Simple answer: you can't get the kernel because it's not possible. Zeus supports swap though.

Only you can change the "title post."
It is not possible. Let's try to explain it to you again.
The RAM inside our phones is fixed permanently to its inside parts. You can't change it, make it better, or do anything with it.
@MatsPunt The chipset is very old. I'm pretty sure DDR3 won't work.

As MatsPunt said, the best thing you can do is use a kernel like Zeus which has swap and/or zRAM support. These will give a teeny meeny boost.
Also, try apps like Greenify to free RAM.

1. Download Greenify from Play Store.
2. Open the app.
3. It may ask for root permissions. If it does, at any point of time, give it root.
4. Tap the "+" sign and then choose an app to be Greenified.
Repeat step 4 for all apps you want to Greenify. These apps will now consume memory only when opened.
WARNING: Don't Greenify Hangouts, WhatsApp, Gmail and such because when you Greenify something, you stop getting notifications (like messages etc) from it.

Yup.
Only annoying thing is this - you chat with someone on pc and when you enable wifi/internet on the phone, you instantly get bombed by all messages you received durning the time you were on pc.
Other than that, everything works properly
