ecoRoute™ HD + Garmin Mechanic on HTC Sensation? - HTC Sensation

Hello,
Has anyone used this gadget
and the program
on HTC Sensation?
Or any other Android device?
I have the soft and bought the gadget, but they're not in my hands still, so share impresions. If you like, and if you have any...
I believe that all of us in this community will gladly appreciate any information about any other similar programs and devices for improvised car diagnostics via phones, as well...
P.S. Click on the images for info links...

reminds me of somet like this
http://www.appbrain.com/app/torque-pro-(obd2-car)/org.prowl.torque

Looks interesting.
Will test it when the OBDII Bluetooth gadget comes to me.
But, any personal impressions?
Also, that reminded me of a question: is HTC Sensation USB-Host enabled device?
What will happen if I plug into it a normal OBDII-to-USB cable? Would I still need external power?

The Garmin Bluetooth ODB unit is too damn expensive.
There are aftermarket ones for use with other apps (doesn't work with the Garmin app).

Looks pretty cool. I didn't know something like this existed for phones.

Uses for Old PPC - server?

Hi,
I've replaced my old HTC artemis. It's not in very good condition, almost unusable as a phone.
Has anyone found good uses for the old PPC's?
Ideally I would like to use it a tiny wireless server, e.g. for torrent, or remote control. It's a pity that it can't be used as a USB host so that hard drives could be attached.
Does anyone know of any useful uses of their old phones? Are there any novel uses for an embedded WinCE 6.0 device?
thanks.
What a great question, Mine are always in good enough condition to be sold, but with me being 18 today, im getting a new laptop and desktop, and ill buy a new ppc, probably the x1, so i will have no real use for my athena, so maybe it's time to find one.
I couldn't sell it
Rory
I would like to use it like a wireless IP webcam. They are really expensive, and PPC have all the hardware needs. But no software solution. I look.

Pen drive HDMI Android TV

One of these days I was reading engadget.com and they´ve mentioned that a company was going to release in 2012 a pen drive sized hdmi device that would allow you to run android on you TV. Since then I´ve lost the link and could not find any more info about it. Does anyone know what I´m talking about?
Isn't it just a thing which copies your screen and sound, and display it on the tv via HDMI?
It is not this but it is something similar...it doesn´t look so cheap though

It´s not this one either http://www.fxitech.com/products/ but it looks like this is something to look forward to. It sounds extremely cool to be able to run Android on my hdtv
I wanna one of this!!!
for sure... I'll buy one

Case with physical buttons

Does anyone know if there exists any cases with physical buttons (either hooks into usb or transmits via bluetooth)? For example I just saw this case for iPhone, but even it is designed for a specific game functionality. What I would love is something that is just a case that you put on the phone which has physical keys that you can use to turn it into a little portable gaming device. I'm guessing that nothing like this exists for our phones so far, but does anyone know of anything like this that exists at all? If there is that is good place to start with asking that company to make one for our phone as well.
Not a case but it's universal.

Yah that looks like about what I wanted. Is there any competition (its $70!) or this the only one anyone is aware of?
Try out the Sixaxis software in the market. Works great with any ps3 sixaxis controller
Yah I've been using sixaxis + hdmi mirroring with my Atrix on my tv since it first came out like a year ago, I'm more looking for a on the go solution. Playing any action games where you need fine tuned controls on a touch screen is just painful.
then icontrolpad is the way to go. No others offer a solution (unless you go apple)

[Q] Docking Station, anyone...?

I still wonder how it is possible that business devices like the Note 8.0 do not get a range of "pro" accessories from the get go, if anyway...
Does anyone know of some device specific docking station by Samsung or some OEM? Perhaps something has been anounced?
Thank You very much in advance!
Regards, Yoko
I don't know of any device specific, true docking stations, but the following are several types of stands that I've been considering:
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Portable-Fold-Up-Playbook-IPM-TAB1/dp/B000CKVOOY/ and http://www.amazon.com/IPAD-ST-Universal-Tablet-Stand-Kindle/dp/B0045JNBNU/

Thank You for the links, but at least for me one, if not the only reason to get a docking station would be hassle free charging and maybe syncing via USB or MHL linking to a TV, but mainly charging.
Generic devices still force You to plug the tablet in at the right position / angle.
Perhaps it´s only bugging me, but I can not wrap my head around the fact, that any 20$ cordless phone for home use has a charging station and for high end smartphones and "hybrids" like the Note 8 we still have to fiddle around with micro usb cables & plugs until some chinese factory manufactures the first halfway fitting, cheap looking dock six moths after the device is widely available (/rant over)

I understand; that makes sense.
And I hear you regarding the lack of sophisticated docking stations. I wonder if part of the problem is that people are so mobile these days (and thus you're not going to take your docking station with you, most likely) and also quick to upgrade to new devices (in which case your old docking station may no longer have a use)? And if the combination of those two makes for less demand, or at least not enough perceived demand by manufactures to invest in developing the tech?
But I agree with you that it would be very cool to have a docking station that does what you describe.
Samsung's Smart Dock Multimedia Hub (#EDD-S20JWE) for the Note II & S4 "Should" work with the Note 8.0, but I don't know how stable it would be in this dock since it is made for the smaller devices.
I have this dock for my Note II and it works well. As soon as I receive my Int'l Note 8.0 3G (~May 8-11) I will test it and report back.
I'm thinking the following post relates to what @bbfoto is talking about, correct?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244383
^Yes.
I just posted there as well. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the input guys!
The Samsung Smart dock looks to be the closest to what I have in mind, though as pointed out in the linked thread it does not support the tablet in any considerable way.
I was looking for something more like the Nexus 7 docking station, unfortunately I can not link to images, beeing a newbie and all...
Well, who knows, perhaps sometime in the near future some company will think of (business) users, who simply want to throw their tablet on a perfectly fitting dock while at their desk.
Thanks again folks!

itrek
Bought the itrek from amazon ill post more when it arrives.
I have put the Note 8.0 into the Samsung Smart Dock for the Note II. It works really well and holds things steady.

Yes. It works great. I threw it in at work and plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse and worked with it that way. It's a really nice unit. Just too expensive.

Do you know if the Note 8.0 will fit in the Smart Dock with a Samsung Book Cover Case on it?
Yes it does
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
It also fits with the poetic case!

Is the HDMI output the same resolution as the tablet or can it out put at higher res? Id be interested in it if it was higher res as it would make andriod office suites a viable option for me. At the moment I find the resolution hinders its use, especially with spreadsheets (which is what I use the most). From what I can gather it just mirrors the tablets resolution.
I might get one anyway as i like the idea of being able to plug in my PS3 controller via USB and play on some emulators. I find emulator a pain to use with touch controls.

It would be same resolution, just scaled. For example my MHL kit gives 1080p, my miracast kit gives 720p. Same amount of content on screen. Ditto if I use an adapter that only does VGA output.
You can't change that metric.

Eonon GA8153A support?

Hi all!
I just bought an Eonon GA8153A for my Seat Leon. Spec is as follows :
Designed for Volkswagen/SEAT/SKODA
Allwinner T8 Processor
Android 7.1 Nougat
2GB Ram
32GM Rom
Having been involved with tinkering in Android previously. I decided to look if a custom rom was available for it, I can't seem to find anything but I see lots of devices seem to all be the same ones just badged up differently. does anybody know if this unit will be compatible with any existing Roms?
Thanks in advance for any information anybody can offer!

So it's arrived today and I've installed it in my car, operation seems Smooth but seemingly simple feature of iPod connection is missing! I didn't expect that one to be missing. I knew Apple CarPlay was going to be a long shot but I did expect it to still have standard iPod connectivity via the usb cable!
I see there are CarPlay adapters so I'm contemplating ordering one of those for it. Both myself and my wife have Apple devices so would make sense to have the function really.
Before I spend even more money trying to get the head unit to do what I thought wore be basic functionality, am I missing the blatantly obvious to get iPod connection to work?
