Crackle app (free movie streaming) - HTC Sensation

So I didn't see this posted in the Sensation forums yet, but for those of you that don't know, Crackle is yet another free movie/tv show streaming website. They also have an android app that somewhat works on our phones.
www.crackle.com
See the following thread post for the apk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14829571&postcount=3
Be sure you have flash installed before you run the app. I ran into an issue where I tried to stream a movie but didn't have flash installed. I installed flash, but Crackle still wouldn't see flash after I installed it. I had to clear Crackle's app cache/data then it worked fine after that.
The quality is par at best and defiantly has some hiccups, but hey its free.
**Edit**
Apologies, searched one more time after and did see this was posted.

Any confirmation to any working divx, flv, mkv rm player?

Hi
I would like to know for your xperia x10, which android apps works and which doesn't?
I have only tried the xyflash trial, and it did not play divx nor h294 in mkv.
I don't want to convert every movie (as it take times). Hopefully something work on xperia will come soon. (i want confirmation before i buy the apps too).
try using blapk market (probably find it on the web only) the developer created it so people could try full version of certain apps without having the feeling of being robbed! but if it does what it claims it should, then out of respect, you should buy the full version from the developers!
ive tried a yxflash version from that market.. not sure if theres a more recent update to it now but it worked ok.. i gues! not sure if it'll be the same for everyone but from what ive tested, avi and divx files worked which is cool but unfortunately i noticed that around 10 minz (im guesin here) the video would freeze (just the clip not the app), yet the audio would continue as normal.
hope any of this helps!!
Well I can confirm that the latest available update for this program has fixed the issue of video freezing! Divx worked well and as 4 avi you can see it reacting slightly slow but some people may be able to live with it for time being until an update can address the issue.
Use YXflash. it work g8t.
I use yxflash, its not bad, i wish i could get the full version free though.
Yxflash still very slow on divx.
I tried many apps so far, i still have yet see a functional H.264 mkv one.
at the back of the phone it said quicktime enable, isn't h.264 apple's ? and mediascape as usual, useless.
Yxflash played divx quite smooth 4 me

How do you use the blapk market? i have installed it but i cannot see any apps...tried adding repos, wouldnt work? does this mean it has been shut down again?
Once you put repos you go to main screen then menu and hit update..
If that doesn't work you can visit the site at www.blackdroid.net, there forum is useful an all..
Hope it helps!

try to use Wuzhenhua Player v4.1, it has support for a wide range of audio and video formats incl flv & rm. it's in Chinese but few buttons are easy to understand
http://mobiputing.com/tag/wuzhenhua-player/
within link above there is a ref to a thread in xda, post 76 you'll find english ver
I checked it out since i am chinese myself, i even got the chinese market place apps. I can't find anything better. yxflash doesn't seem to work for some divx (anime one) and more anime fansub are in MKV/H264 these days.
Wuzhen does play some divx yxflash doesn't play and vice versa. I guess i will just read manga on the subway.
I use RockPlayer, which works a treat... I don't have a heap of movies, so I don't know exactly what it plays, but it sure plays more than the inbuilt media players... and it does it better - no lags, etc...
RockPlayer, search no further, app is amazing, YX Player is a joke compared to this one.
it doesn't seem to work as well as it thought to be, it does move and all but i see big lags.
I think it have to do with the size of the anime i am trying to watch.

Couldn't have said it better myself!! lol
whatz the size of this file? and are you talkin bout these issues on rockplayer, not yxflash?
Cause I have rockplayer and i've used a 1Gb file and framerate was running near 25 frames/sec and had no lag whatsoever!
There's someone who's played a movie (1080i) at 30f/sec without lag..
Maybe something on ya phone is blocking its true potential?

Another vote for Rock player.
I seem to have problems with Rock Player if I use my MW600.. But only when I'm playing divx/xvid.
I hear a crackling sound. If I turn off my headset, the problem is gone.
Am I the only one with this problem? Should I start using Wuzhenhua ?
I use Rockplayer, it is by far the best one out there, no lag on my XviD collection

This beta only work till July 15th, but I hope they will release another one before that.

YouTube Auto HQ Video App

I just got this from the sdx forum and not sure if it will work for the hero too or not, or if this has already been discovered, but here it is. This is from the thread I found:
The default YouTube app has it so that by default it automatically plays the videos in lower quality if you are connected over 3G, and high quality if you are connected by wifi.
This upated app tricks it into thinking you are connected via wifi so it'll automaticlly play the videos in high quality.
To install, what I did was first backed up my current youtube.apk in /system/app and used adb push to push this updated one into the same folder, so far at least for me works pretty good.
You probably don't need to backup the original one first, but I did just to make sure I had something to fall back to in case this one didn't work.
Can someone pull it open and lmk if it would work/be compatible with our heroes?
I believe the YouTube version that comes with damagecontrol plays HD. It works for me on 3G.

That sounds good, but the question I have, is does it automatically play the videos in high quality/high def? This apk I uploaded supposedly does that, but it is untested on the hero and I cannot test because I am having a different issue of the fact that regardless of if I have the youtube app or not, it still tries to play the youtube videos I click from the browser in the htc flash player. The installer for this app is broke, so back up your old youtube app and push this one into system/app and try.
on the moment, when you go into the browser and click on a youtube video it will play it in the youtube player, and offers an option to play it in high quality. The apk I posted is tricked into thinking it is connected in wifi mode, so it automatically plays the video in hq every time you open one.

That's the exact same size as mine, does the installer work?
Yet another development question of a stock 2.1 feature. Seriously, I will stop bringing ideas here. In fact, consider this my last one aside from the PRI stuff i mentioned.

so it works fine and does auto HQ on your sprint HTC hero?
you will have to push it to system/app using adb, Fresh kitchen, or root manager etc. It does work well

Crackle

Can't find crackle in the market on my droid x running gingerbread.
Any idea where I can get the apk for the free version?
There have been so many many threads and responses out there all looking for an app that will get Crackle movies playing on their G-Tab. I'm one of them. Forget Hulu. Crackle has great films and they're free with a tiny bit of commercials intermixed which is no big deal when it comes to free. Anyway, just finished watching The DaVinci Code after having watched Ghostbusters. All on my G-Tab. I loved it.
Just get Dolphin Browser, for free, from Android Market. (The Browser that came with the system is not very browserable.) Then enter http://www.crackle.com and with the assist of your WiFi, you're there and you can select and play a whole bunch of movies. They stream very nicely although the sound is so low you'll need the assist of some head gear. Unfortunately, Hulu can't be accessed this way. Why and how was crackle able to do what Hulu can't? Forget about a Crackle app, just do it the old fashioned way, with a trusty browser at the helm.
While I appreciate sherwinsilv's advice, and he's right, crackle works through the Dolphin browser, it would be nice to have access to the specially designed crackle app... Few media sites take the time to have streaming available to us Canadians, and here we have one (thanks Sony!) but Google is precluding Canadians from grabbing the app in the Market... if someone could post the most recent apk for crackle, it would be greatly appreciated...
I'd still like the .apk too.
Can nobody help a man who's down on his luck and post the apk for crackle?
Try this apk
Hi,
I found this link for the .apk in this same forum, I tried installing the apk in my Archos 101 installation was fine. I was able to open the app and see the movies and shows content. There were couple FC too. However the issue is I unable to play any of those videos as I get a DRM error.
But you guys can try and give your feed back how it goes.

[Q] YouTube App Problem (skipping, lagging)

Hello,
I just updated my tf101 to ics (ota official). On Honeycomb I think the YouTube app was the app I used to most, it could play HD content at full fps and there were no problems. Fast forward to ICS where every video either skips or lags when a lot of things are moving around on the screen. This has made the youtube app unusable.
When I still had CWM i was also using ICS roms, but they had the same problem, so, I went back to honeycomb and it worked fine again. For some reason I thought the custom roms were to blame so I tried the official ota.
So to my question, is anyone else having these problems? And if so did you solve it? Also, is there an alternative to the youtube app? (I have tried the web version but it's waaay slower than the app at playing video).
Thanks!
No problems here. You could try to goto Manage Apps and clear the cache for YouTube...and then if that doesn't work also clear the data. That would be the first step in trouble shooting.
for my case, is the 720p mkv files lagging, for youtube i notice some stuttering , not anything that obvious though. BTW many have reported video performance dropped dramatically on the ICS
So there is no way to fix this? I tried to download a trailer and it lags as well. So it is not just the youtube app. Shouldn't the tf101 handle videos pretty good?
I tried everything and finally...
I uninstalled adobe flash player, and it stopped skipping around. Wondering if there is a system conflict on this tablet as there is sometimes w/ desktop versions of google and the conflicts between shockwave and flash player... oh well, it worked. Super frustrating.

Kodi on Android Play Store

It's no longer necessary to sideload Kodi.
The Kodi team has created a google+ testing group. Here's the link to the Alpha testing. . Join the group, become a tester, install from the play store.
I had to uninstall the old version before installing through the play store. Backup before switching.
appreciate the heads up.
its doesn't see my adt-1 to install on
Having this officially on Android TV would be cool...
This is brilliant news, downloaded last night, runs like a dream, unfortunately only at 50Hz (see my other post) so you get juddering and not smooth playback but hopefully google should fix this
Did as mentioned in 1st post. but it is not showing up on the main screen
Downloaded...Kodi thanks
It's been a looong time since I set up (xbmc).....anyone have pointers.....like how to go to repositories. ...etc....thnx
I did this a week ago, i had to stop using it because while using Lollirock (which allows volume control) for some reason it shows both android volume and kodi volume when i raise or lower it which is somewhat annoying.
I looked it up and they did this intentionally so android handles the volume now. I wish they would just get rid of the UI if that is the case.
Installing now
looks like it's not on the play store anymore.

It is working perfectly here
should i be able to install the beta version as per https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/101953908499318548671 on my nexus player?
i signed up to the beta, agreed, got the link and used it to install on my nexus player.
the play store page now says it's installed, but there is nothing on my nexus player.

Sounds to me like you've run out of available space on your Nexus Player. If you try to install an app to your NP from the Play Store via a PC, the PC version of the Play Store isn't technically "local" to your Nexus Player, therefore it has no idea how much available space your NP may/may not have. All it does is process your installation request. Whether or not it REALLLYY is installed or not, the Play Store via PC isn't quite that intelligent yet and has no clue.
I've actually had this same thing happen to me several different times as well. Each time I was out of space and didn't realize it beforehand. Check to see if that may be the problem. :good:
nope, i had around 2GB free.
it eventually appeared on the nexus player about 1 hour later after i clicked install.
having the same problem with ES File Explorer, but as of yet that still hasn't appeared on the nexus player, and i selected to install it around the same time as kodi.
Installed a few days ago on my Nexus 10, works fine. Waiting for my box I ordered from Amazon.
