Hey all.
I just rootet my Sensation last night, got S-Off, root etc.
Running Revolution HD rom right now, and I've used Leedroid too, but I got a problem, when I take screenshots of my sensation the picture looks like this: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-...I/AAAAAAAAAFs/Aai4fJlrAP4/s512/screenshot.jpg

Anyone know what the problem is?
The problem is that those 2 apps that you tried don't support the qHD display that we have. They are for WVGA and lower resolution.
What you need is drocap2 which supports qHD.

Yea it looks like drocap2 works better. But with it there seems to be lines in the capture at times. I took a snap of my home screen which came out great, but when I took a shot of my lock screen which uses the Weather widget the capture had some black lines across it.
The screen shots are attached.
I'm using Perma-Temp Root for root access.
I just took a screenshot of my lock screen with drocap2 and it worked fine. Perhaps it is because you are using Perma-Temp Root instead of the full S-OFF and Root.

Just wondering, did you use the "shake" trigger or the timer? I used the shake trigger.

Huh? What? You mean if we press power+home a screen capture is made? Where does the output graphic go?
Maybe I'm not doing it right, I can't make it happen when I try pressing power+home, but maybe I don't know where to look for the graphic ...

Same question.
The lines are what I believe from the live wallpaper. Try using a static wallpaper and do another screenshot.
As for the power and home I think its only available with certain roms, I am not 100% on that though.

Drocap2 is the only to work fine for me of all the ones I tried...thank goodness!
Guys, if you hit the Power/Sleep button and then quickly press the HOME button, a ScreenShot is taken lol

I'll take your word for it on the live wallpaper. That sounds plausible enough. I enjoy my lock screen too much to change it even for a short test .
And yea, that power+home for a screen shot sounds like something in a custom ROM.
I had those same lines but mine were even worse.
I downloaded Screenshot ER from the market and it works perfectly!

Id love to see how it feels to instantly "leap" w/ one hit of the home button.
Dont know if this can be dont w/out Root. Hopefully, one of us knows of an app that can do it already. Or maybe someone can code/hack it.

yeah. so instead of one tap of home then swipe, or two tap of home then pick, its just one tap home and pick. I think that how macs do it now a days with expose, right?
If mines already on the home screen it only takes one tap....why 1 instead of 2? Your THAT lazy you want someone to design an apk that edits the amount of taps required?

3. Yes, yes I am. especially since that cuts my taps down by 50%.
Seriously, i find it hella annoying that i have to go to the main home screen before i can go to the on that i want. just reverse the order. make one tap go to leap view, and two taps go to main home. I see mac users doing this all the time with expose, and it looks awesome.
It's shouldn't be hard. Just look in leap. Should be able to switch. Lemme go look and see what I can do for you.
What about if you actually want to end on the homepage? If it changed I would believe that would require two taps now instead of the one, its kinda of a toss up.
I wish we could press and hold the menu button to bring up the app drawer. Having android so long I am not used to hitting the bottom left for the Apps but having used DxTop I did get accustom to pressing and holding menu to bring up the Apps

There is a new launcher in the market right now that im using it works great.it called launcherpro.
I would install "home switcher"also in the market. That way while you are setting up your new layout you can go back and fourth. Without being interrupted by that a default prompt.
Launcher pro has single tap of home button that brings up the leap view, and it also has pinch to leap. With added gesture of dialer, contacts, internet, and messages at the bottom of every page.
Also it has a app launcher similar to the N1. Without the 3d cube effect.
Very responsive worth a try, only downfall is none of the htc widgets work while using this launcher. Bc their widgets are tired in to it.
I use the flip clock from the market, its customizable.and dolphin hd with their bookmarks widget and the friendstream app , that way it still has a sense feel to it.

Works well for me- it still has HTC Sense loaded in the background, which I'm sure if you turned it off would make it run even faster... but it works nonetheless.
I've been using it for two weeks no lag. Rosie is nice for awhile but the widgets are just too big. Plus I get bored quick, and having their widgets on my old eris for six months was enough for me.

Now that we have S-OFF and Perm Root, is there any way to get built in screenshot functionality working? I have tried a couple of free screenshot apps on the Market but they don't work. They output jumbled/distorted images.

That's what I thought. Apparantly it is built in to the Sensation too but is disabled somewhere.

This app works great for me without distorting image.
I have attached an apk that works flawlessly
if you open up build.prop with root explorer you can see that the screencapture feature was disabled, after removing the "#" and then rebooting the phone attempts to take the screenshot, makes the camera noise and says the shot was saved, but the jpgs are 0 bytes?

This is the feature I was talking about. It's strange that it doesn't seem to work on the Sensation. I can't help but think it is something trivial.

I tried it but am having the same problem as all other Screenshot apps. It displays transparent lines on some of the elements such as the Clock widget or Calendar. Maybe it's a live wallpaper issue?

Hang on a second! You also have the same problem on your home screens. I just had another look at your screenshots. The Google Talk icon is cut off at the bottom on the last one you posted with the live wallpaper. That's one of the problems I am experiencing, as well as the lines. Looks like maybe the live wallpaper could be the culprit and not Sense.

Finally someone with the same exact problem... I ended up using Screen Shoot It... is the best option after testing a bunch of screenshot apps... try it and let me know...

Because of the qHD Screen... Will work sometimes... but not 100% reliable...
Yea change it to save to a .jpg instead of .png. the encoder doesn't seem to work right on the sensation or some newer phones. And I use screenshot it. I have found that it seems to work the best.

It's been addressed a few times already. But because of the s-off threads, it has been buried here in xda. I know because I have pretty much commented in every one of them lol.
The problems with most screenshot apps are that most out there are not made for our qHD screens. Therefore you get the fuzzy shots. As for the drocap, I think drocap2 is the one that works most of the time. I say that because if you are running any live wallpapers you get the dark lines across the screen. Go and follow the thread Viper posted to edit your build prop so that you can use the power + home combo screenshot app thats built into the phone. You just have to edit the build.prop to "activate" it. GL

Maybe email the authors of drocap and shootme will help. :/
If you are running a custom rom, most likely the build.prop has been edited already to run the Power + Home button screen shop native app. I know the Virtuous app can do this now, so I do not need to mess with the build.prop file anymore, unless I want to play with some of the settings.

i use screenshotER works perfectly on my xoom and on my sensation, i uploaded the apk for you or anyone else who needa a good screen cap app

native screenshots are disabled by ONE line in the build.prop
I edited that line and now on the stock tmous ROM (with su obviously) I now get perfect built-in screenshots.

Most of these screen shot apps did not work on the S4G for me, but Drocap2 works great!
You should download dropcap2 from the Market. It never gave me problems.

I think it depends on the ROM and also the LWP. Have you tried taking a screenshot with a live wallpaper on? I get lines most of the time with the LWP and clear as day shots with static wallpapers using drocap2.
With the edited build.prop, the system screenshot (power + home) works for me.
Just an fyi for everyone. ShootMe had an update in the Market yesterday and it now works on my Sensation when it wasn't before.

hmm..it works alright, but not great. Anyone know how this effects battery life with the proximity sensor on constantly?
Is the state of the proximity sensor set to always "on" ? meaning draining the battery?
I've been using the app almost all day and I havnt noticed any dramatic decrease in my battery

Just to let u now I didn't create this app I found a few years ago and some one in rcmix wanted a way to unlock device with out using power button so I showed him this and thought would share so i can't take any credit or help with any solutions I can only show how to set up prop
U can change how long the sensor is on in options
I currently use widgetlocker. With it you can set the volume buttons to wake the phone, and then hit the back key to unlock. Bypassing the sense lock screen until you have to enter your pin. Its a whole lock screen replacement. its highly customizable, and you can add widgets, shortcuts, and custom sliders to your lock screen. It may not be your cup of tea if you adore the sense 3.0 lock for its eye candy. But if you prefer functionality along with your eye candy then widgetlocker is the way to go. Its only $2 in the market.

It seemed like a good idea until I put the phone in my pocket. If this could be done with the softbuttons instead it wouldn't accidentally unlock when you put it in your pocket.

There is an app somewhere that replicates the iphone lock screen. Used to use it on my old phone. So don't have the apk. Search a bit and you'll find it

There is an Miui theme with that Lockscreen. And yes it scales correctly. I used it for some time. Other than that I'm out of ideas lol
Magiclocker also has a sweet Samsung puzzle lock theme as well

What about "Lock 2.0"? Haven't used it in forever (coincidentally, it was the first app I ever bought for Android - lol), but it was specifically made to have the iPhone style locking, as well as give it some personal flare.
Yea that's the one he's using. The screen is compressed and the slider bar is really long and skinny. I've tried it without any luck. I now use "no lock" and just hit any button and am on my main screen, I never really saw the use of pressing a button just to do another task..

I do this, except I use a passcode. I just wish android/cm7 will release a lockscreen I like. Rotary did it for me for a while, but it become almost too complicated for me. I didn't like that if I used it to change the sound, i have to wait for the thing to finish rotating. I just want something I slide and it unlocks, but the default sliding tabs in my opinion are ugly. I liked sense's lockscreen, but the cm7 replication doesn't do it for me. looks too... circular
