[Q] Adobe Flash Broken Juicy ROM - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello Devs
I recently flashed Juicy47's Juicy ROM for the Inspire 4G, if your reading this man first of all big thanks to you for taking time and helping out the community with that awesome ROM. (I wanted to say thanks in the thread but my post count is too low)
I just have one small problem with it, Adobe Flash is not working for me. Tried flashing the ROM multiple times and wiped cache and dalvik cache as well but no joy. It is shown as installed under "All Programs" tab but even under market place I cant uninstall or install it again.
Further, I tried installing the .apk file and it does work for some time but when I restart the phone it magically vanishes again. Weird.
Thanks

UPDATE: Re-flashed the ROM and still have the same problem, I even extracted Flash from the zip and installed it manually but when the phone is rebooted it uninstalls itself.

Adobe Flash works perfectly well for me on that ROM. I assume you are using his latest 2.52 version. How are you determining it is uninstalled? If you search for it in the market does it not say installed? Or is it just not working for you on some sites? This question really needs asked in juicy's thread. I will copy it over and link it for you.
Also what ROM are you coming from? You may need to do a full wipe.

Thanks for the shout out Agoattamer, flash shows that it is installed in both the market and under the applications tab, but I can’t uninstall it or modify it. Trying to play any flash content gives me the blue lego cube with a question mark on it Apple style. I’m coming from the stock AT&T ROM that ships with the Inspire originally. I actually fixed this problem a while ago with the help of a friend. For anyone else that has this problem here is what we did:
- Install Titanium Backup
- Force uninstall Adobe Flash 10.3
- Restart and reinstall it again from the market
This actually helped and now even when I restart the phone Adobe Flash remains installed and works through the browser. While I was using Titanium Backup I also went ahead and uninstalled Adobe Reader and Twitter. This is why I love using Android, so many talented developers and community members on board.
EDIT: Just wanted to add that the stock radio works great with this ROM and I'm getting Good/Excellent reception in Houston which is pretty rare for AT&T down here.

Funny thing today. I went to test out adobe flash. So I went to the desktop version of youtube.com. And guess what all I got? Yep that blue box with the ?? marks. So I immediately uninstalled with titanium and then went back to the market and reinstalled. Works fine now. Came back here to report to you and I see that is exactly what you have done too. Good to go.

For those who are using this new ROM are you having clock issues?
Everything I access the clock it gives me a force close. Any help will do.
Thanks!
Do a full wipe.
I did a full swipe and cleared cache, still having the same issue.
To expand on foxcompany's post. If you don't do a full wipe when installing a custom Rom you will, almost garuanteed, experience issues. These issues include anything and everything from WiFi and GPS issues to random force closes on random applications.
So, if you experience issues; OS, App, or Widget issues and didn't do a full wipe that is the reason 99.9% of the time. If you're a noob (no worries, everyone was or is in some areas) I can post the full-wipe.zip that I use when I switch roms.
Another note... Typically upgrading roms, for example, upgrading from Android Revolution 5.x to 5.1.x you don't need a full wipe unless explicitly stated by the OP.
Long post for a simple question but hopefully it will help you or others with similar issues.
Sent from my InspireDesire 4GHD
Downloaded FULL-WIPE-1.3.zip from the sticky post, ran it and still have the same issues.
Maybe I downloaded the wrong one? I tried the fullwipe 1.2 and Vision and only 1.3 was successful.
Full wipe 1.3 is the one. If you flashed full wipe and reflashed the rom the issues should have resolved. If not, you'll have to wait for some more ideas cause that's all I got lol.
Sent from my InspireDesire 4GHD
Try redownloading android revolution, do a full wipe and install. If u are still having problems after that, try downloading and installing a completely different rom. Of course..wipe first. See if the issue persists. If it doesn't persist with a different rom, I would get in contact with android rev developer for further assistance.

I don't know if anyone has specifically stated they are also running Rev 5.1.3...but...
I'm running Revolution 5.1.3 and my clock works fine. Try redownloading the ROM, doing a full wipe, then flashing again. It's possible you got a corrupted file when downloading the ROM - Did you check the md5 of the ROM's .zip after it was on your SD?
I will download the ROM again when I get home and see if it's still there. Funny thing is I ran AR 3.7 and the clock worked file.
Will report back later.
[edit]
Ok so I re-downloaded the ROM and everything is working again. It appears that I installed the wrong no-sense patch which cause the clock to not to work.
Thanks everyone for the help.

[Q] Market Apps wont download

I am using Coredroid V7.
When I am trying to download apps from the official app market, it doesnt download.
it says downloading then just clears itself out. i try it again it doesnt download it.
i even did a full wipe(1.5 and coredroid wipe) then freshly flashed the rom again, then it doesnt download again.
because of that i even had to RE-root my phone..well that didnt fix it as well..
it worked completely fine in 6.7. can anyone help me whats wrong with it? i even resetted my phone..nothing worked...
im trying to download miren browser..
Wow hmm I had this before. Are you setting up any accounts after flashing? What I mean is once you flash and get to set up tutorial, when it asks about setting up accounts,so u log into Facebook or Google right then?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well, after the extensive wiping/rerooting/reflashing/reseting you've done, to no avail, maybe it's just the market acting up.
I've run into similar download issues both stock/unrooted and custom/rooted, from time to time. It's usually that stuck progress bar that never seems to move and never finishes, almost always when trying download something that's set to update automatically.
I've also run into specific downloads not kicking in, as you're describing. It usually clears itself up if I just wait a little while and try again.
Not a very specific solution to your problem, but all I'm saying is that after all you've done to "reset," that should have taken care of the problem, if the problem was indeed on your end.
FWIW.

Do a Search for Full Wipe, there is something you can run that just cleans yer device completely. I would try that. Else; I am unsure.
Settings->Applications->Market-> Clear Data/Cache ???
Worked for me =(
It's just a sporadic issue with the Android Market. I have encountered this very same problem and thought it was the rom but never did any reflashing or wiping data/cache but then I would go try to download an app and it would successfully download and install. I think it's an issue with the android market.

Just fyi, I flashed v7 tonight, and installed several apps after the fact, so I can at least assure you that it's but the ROM.
Sent from the computer I carry in my pocket.
Solution kinda
I was having the same problem tried all sorts of wipes to no avail ended up just downloading and installing new cooler looking app market thinking it would solve my problem but it didn't just gave me an error message to go along with it.....so the solution u say......annoyingly simple really reboot into recovery after installing new market clear cache and dalvik cache too just to be sure.
confirmed working as of 5 minutes ago.
with new market
on virtuous unity rom (but I don't see a reason it shouldn't work on most roms with weird market bug)

Market Problems

Hey guys,
I just decided to finally try one of the ICS roms - went with ARHD 6.2.1 XE.
Flashing the firmware and the ROM went fine, no problems, everything is smooth and sexy.
Before I switched to the new ROM I made a backup of all my apps with Titanium Backup, restored them easily enough and all of them semm to be compatible with the new ICS.
However, when I check the market most of my apps aren't being displayed there. The list only seems to contain apps that came naturally with ARHD.
I tried to use the Market Doctor in Titanium Backup, but it won't even show the missing apps in the list of 'fixable items'.
Any ideas on this one?
Help would be much appreciated, thanks.
Edit:
Of course I read the sticky about popular ICS problems.
[30Dec]The Market isnt working
If you're having problems downloading from the market on first boot, restarting the phone should sort it out.
thanks to mbatson for tip.

well i saw that this posted a possible fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408351&page=433 post 4330 this should allow the market to read your sensation as a tmboile one
Everything is fixed now, thanks to the help in the ARHD thread.
Changing that line buildprop + clearing data & cache did the trick. Everything is back to normal.

GApps not working with CM7 ROM

I installed the CM7 port and the GApps, but my Google apps don't show up. I've tried reflashing the ROM and the GApps package over and over and clearing all the caches to no avail. Help?
you have to flash GAPPS separately. refer original post of CM7 thread and you will find the link
That's what I did. I flashed the ROM then I flashed the GApps, but they're still not showing up.
Ok that's weird. Can you pinpoint the exact steps you performed from download to copying to erasing to booting up? Each and every step please.
Sure thing.
I downloaded the ROM and the GApps package from the ROM's thread and stored the files on my desktop. While the downloads were going, I booted my phone into recovery and mounted the USB storage. I then plugged the phone into my computer and copied the files over before ejecting the USB device and unplugging the phone. I then wiped the user data, the cache, and the Dalvik cache and flashed the ROM, then, straight after, the GApps. I wiped the user data again just to be safe then rebooted back into the OS.
After it didn't work the first time, I downloaded the GApps again and copied them to my phone again, this time within the OS instead of the recovery. Rebooted, wiped user data, cache, and Dalvik cache, flashed the GApps, and nothing.
Not being sure if it was the ROM or the GApps package, I flashed the MIUI beta then flashed the GApps (using the same sequence of steps mentioned above) and it still didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be specific to CM7.
Ok try these steps:
1. Download the ROM
2. Download GApps from here: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
3. Wipe the big 3's (user data, cache and dalvik-cache).
4. Flash the ROM.
5. Flash Gapps.
6. Boot without erasing anything.
I followed your instructions exactly but I still have the same problem.
Interestingly, if I go into the list of installed applications in the settings, Market (but no other Google apps) shows up but it's greyed out and I don't have any options to run it or anything.

Crap. Something's really not right. Can you give it a try with the SuperOSR ROM? Need to see if it's specific to the CM build.
EDIT: Can you try searching for the Market .apk file around the forum and install it manually? It should be somewhere in Themes&Apps section. Give that a try before trying with the SuperOSR ROM. Wipe, re-flash ROM, flash Market.apk, reboot.
Reason: the gapps provided by CM team are old (v2 market) and it might be that Google does not support v2 anymore since they've switched to Play Store. (not sure).
I did try with the MIUI ROM and the same thing happened, I don't think it's specific to your ROM build. Perhaps my phone just doesn't like Cyanogen's GApps package? No idea why that would be though.
Anyway, I did as you suggested and installed an APK and it worked! I found this one on Redmond Pie and put in the SD and installed it with the file browser on the phone. Seems to work fine so far

Awesome!
While you're here, a bug I've noticed that's only popped up on your ROM is that, when I turn the phone off, sometimes the orange light stays on and the phone's completely frozen up until I pull the battery. It's only happened twice but I thought it might be something to look into.
Other than that, it's very good! I'm enjoying it, keep up the good work

It's a CWM based problem. Update your CWM recovery to the latest one from the CWM thread in the Dev section and you are good to go.
Way too many CWM's in two sentences..
I'll do that now, cheers
Glad to know you are up and running, but it's still quite strange. Every time I flashed CM7.2 (it it was quite a lot of times GApps were there, Market included. Just running the Market app would actualize it to Play Store automagically.
Of course, as Alex says, it may not be supported by Google anymore, but still you should have gmail, etc from the zip file even without a working Play Store...
The issue was probably related to CWM, if you have an old enough version it could be messing up with the zip internals, but sometimes it's just anything else... (I installed the first CM9 alpha rom w/o problem, the second one wouldn't install, one week later, doing exactly the same with the same zip file, it installed flawlessly)
It may also be related to the specific terminal, I have noticed that depending on the device type (country of release, free or network operator locked, and so on) terminals behave a little bit different in some aspects (e.g. my GPS stopped working after unlocking the bootloader and was only fixed when I reflashed the radio firmware after getting S-OFF; and now, with the CM9 alpha, my keyboard won't get backlight while it's dark outside but adxl's is working fine, which is bad for debugging purposes, of course )
If you could make a backup and install SuperOSR and see if everything works fine the first time (even if you go back to CM afterwards, as I did) it may help to understand the issue better... Or maybe just posting your phone's specific data (model, build, country, etc) may give us a hint.
We know that free UK terminals are somewhat different to Spain free terminals, and those are a bit different from Orange or Yoigo locked terminals... It may be related to hardware batches out fro the factory, who knows?
Enjoy your ChaChaCha!
I think the problem was my CWM in the end. After I upgraded it (that alone included some trial and error, eventually the fastboot method worked) the GApps zips worked fine.
So if anyone else has this problem, check your CWM version and upgrade it if you need to
Can i Upgrade CWM without any change of my current OS ?
i actually couldnt go to Market after i flashed GServices. I downloaded newest Google Play in HTC Chacha apps, installed it and it work until now (of course wit GService flashed before).
Btw, how can i check my current CWM. Thanks!

Hello there!
I've came by to add my issue, similar to yours.
I was on CM7 too and wanted to try the SuperOSR ROM. I used the common steps for flash it (all cache Wiping and factory reseting, ROM installing, Gapps installing), rebooting my phone, connect it with a Google account, launched Gmail and then when I've arrived at a certain level of my mails, the app crash...
For the Google Play app, I've got a server connexion error...
It's like if all the Google's framework was here but totally not stable...
I've tried with an another ROM, the MUI ROM and everything works...
Like I said, I came from the CM7 ROM wich was working...

Hi, I registered in this forum just to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was searching for that appropriate GApps for the CM7 I installed previously with the GApps for Ginger Bread (not the same with this link you posted) and it gave me a headache too. I tried flashing for 3x & the Gapps were not working. Then I tried this link and VOILA! Now my smile is from ear to ear.. so SALAMAT! (Tagalog word for THANK YOU). I'm from Philippines anyway. I bookmarked this page for future reference. A million thanks to XDA Developers and it's helpful members & thanks for welcoming me even I'm a noob..:laugh:

Hey. First, don't do what I did. I though I may have needed to flash the newest version of CWM to my Optimus T. Don't do it. It was soft bricked, and it was a pain to fix. Second; try updating your SU binary, and downloading the latest SuperUser apk from the browser. I personally haven't tried it (still recovering from brick), but it's said that it is a viable solution. If that doesn't work, your best bet is to download any version of Blackmarket Alpha, open it, and let it update itself. It pretty much has all of the same apps as the Play Store, minus the sleek UI and better sorting we both miss from the store.
Footnote: Gapps may have not flashed the applications themselves, but go to System > Accounts and check to see if Google is an option. That tells you it's atleast half way working. If you can, download the Play Store .apk, and repeat the second thing I told you above.
Best of luck,
Rob

Did you use the smaller version of gapps or the Generic one? One of the problems with 4.x is that it's so big there isn't room for all the Google apps. If you used the 88MB version then try the gapps-jb-light-20120804-signed.zip version (55MB) and see if that one works. I saw several Optimus V folks with the same issue and using a chopped down version worked for them. The problem is that there isn't enough internal storage for both the ROM and the full gapps package.
