MMS Settings

ok so i can receive and download mms just fine, when i send a pic it shows as if it was sent properly in the message app and in handcent app but when i ask the recepient they never receive the pic, i tried changing settings in the message app under connection settings but the settings are unselectable and i cant change nothing in there, any suggestions?

anybody???

I am having this problem as well, I have been told how to create a new apn, and have done so, but I dont understand how to make it work, all those connection settings are greyed out

hey guys! I have a hero phone from sprint and im DYING to connect it to boost mobile! I have the bb curve with boost right now. Can you guys help me do this process? what do i need to do?

I have an issue with MMS. Does the Sprint Hero not allow u to receive animated text messages? I'm running the CsRom 2.1.7, but even running the stock Rom it wouldn't work. U would think having a damn near $600 phone this would work. I have friends that send me animated texts all the time and either they come up with just a non moving pic or there is a pic with a video symbol on it and when u click it the screen flashes and goes back to the home screen. Any comments would b very helpful and Ty in advance: )

wow, resurrecting an ancient thread that has nothing to do with what ur asking is probably not the right route to finding ur answers.. i would suggest a little searching, and if not, maybe creating a NEW thread in the Q&A forum...

are u using the stock messenger? if so, try handcent instead if u haven't already..

Yes I've tried Handcent and Chomp but animated text messages will not animate at all. I have friends that don't have snazzy smartphones but yet they can get animated text messages. Its something else. Is the HTC Cdma Hero not compatible to receive those style of messages. I can send and receive pic and normal texts but nothing animated. It just shows up as a regular old pic. Grr... I wish I could figure this out. Ty for the comment tho

Is there a way to get the mms.apk from the MIUI rom working on cm6 or sense?
I dont like the stock messaging app on either aosp/sense and i hate that handcent has ads/ad bar.
While im asking, what about the vibrant mms.apk as well.
If impossible, delete this thread.

try donloading the MIUI/vibrant ROM of your choice and see if the messaging app works

i have and they wont install. i tried using the auto-sign tool as well, which let me install, but FC'd every time.

It needs to be ported to the specific phone you're using unless you mod it to work off the original sense SMS app, similarly to how handcent SMS works.

[ROM] bAdDroid 2.2 (10/18/10)

Ok, this is a Rom that I cooked up for myself... not for anyone else, but people keep asking me for it, and where they can get it so I guess here it is... LOL...
Like I said this is MY ROM... I have taken anything and everything out of it that I don't use, if you want something added, then add it... (i.e.... why have both Gmail, and Mail, when K-9 mail does everything both of them do, and its one App in the drawer... NOT 2)... Also I don't use FaceBook, Twitter, FriendStream... I have real flesh and blood friends... but if you use them... Flash them... LOL
I guess if you want to give it a spin, seems super fast... download whatever kernal you want for it, if you want to change that... I use KiNgxKernel #10 and running overclocked to 1228mHz with no problems at all...
You will need to download SetCPU from the XDA Site... LINK
There are a few things you need to do to get it looking like the final photos, but all the pieces are here, just change the Live Wallpaper, put the widgets on the desktop, and change out the icons for Launcher... but thats all easy stuff... like I said its all there...
Make sure you wipe everything... And like all roms, you are doing this at your OWN RISK... But I have flashed the final copy so many times just to check and make sure its all ok and it's being a "good" bAdDroid.... LOL...
If anyone wants to change something and post it, that wont bother me in the least...
And if someone wants to change the code so that all the things get put into place to begin with... drop me the code and I will add it in, and respin it, but for me, just to tired at this point... so going to go ahead and get it posted...

I am glad you all like it... it is different, and I think that is why everyone that has seen my phone wanted to know where to get it...
Anyway, if you happen to get a FC when you set up SetCPU... for now use Root Explorer to reinstall the apk.... you can find it in /data/app/com.mhuang.overclocking-1.apk
that should fix till I can figure out what is happening...

on the setcpu which option did u put it on cuz when i put it on 1228 and 960 min on performance it crashes and it says the max it goes to is 998 why???

1. Did you flash KiNgxKernel #10 ~ the Kernel it comes with is not overclockable...
2. Did you do the SetCPU reinstall from post #7 ... for some reason sometimes getting FC and have to reinstall...

There is, I haven't tried CFS#11 ... I have always used BFS... and the latest is #10
Did you do the reinstall of SetCPU ? Goto Root Explorer to reinstall the apk.... you can find it in /data/app/com.mhuang.overclocking-1.apk

yea i got setcpu from root explorer but it was set the max to 998 and would go up and then after i closed it the whole rom crashed and rebooted.

this looks like the **** man! love to see it. i will download in the morning.

If you long press whichever one you want to change, then just tap on custom Icon, and it will bring up the Gallery, and you will see a folder called AndyIcons, then just pick which one you want...

[DEV-REQ / All ROMS] HTC SMS App and why it converts automatically a sms to a mms

Hello developers here at the Desire HD development thread!
Ive got a biq question!
In former times (a few months ago) i saw that something changed with the HTC sms app.
Before these changes i could write a sms with more than 2000 letters (around 16 sms) and it still was a sms! i could sent it like a normal sms,and because i've got a sms flat all was okay (i can remember with one of the first virtousroms (1.x) all was okay)
But then, i don't know which ROM it was, but all new ROM's today have got this problem: if i write a sms with more than ~750 letters, the sms app converts the sms in a mms :/ that's really wiry cause who has got a mms flat today?
So i wanna ask all developers here: Is there a way to change the sms app, so that the app doesn't convert a long sms into a mms!
Hope I'm not the only one who noticed that...
It would really help me and others if someone with the technically knowledge could take a lock into the Sense 3.5 sms app!
Please don't ask about the sense to write such an long sms and tell me that i should phone the other person I have my reasons and haven't a flat for phoning...

BY FAR the easiest solution to this is to download an alternative messaging app and use that for when you need to send large texts.
I know for a fact (because i just tried it) that GO sms supports sending massive texts, and it's also a great app so maybe give that a go.

Search around for "Special characters" in SMS/MMS app settings.

Using some other sms app is ok..but i kinda like the stock app...so i modified it to accept large texts...
Its just a tiny smali change..i do it on every rom that i use..
attaching the mms.apk for RCMix3D Runny v4.0.. but it should work on other sense3.5 roms as well...
i can post the required smali edits if you want..

Whats the smali change? I was looking at it a while back but didn't find it.

it's there 2 times... remove both, along with the corresponding "if-nez" conditions..
and that's it...

you can push it after you install your rom..

EDIT: Re-Pushed in recovery and deleted dalvik cache...now it's ok

Galaxy 2X SMS theme on G2X

A friend of mine has a GalaxyS 2 and I like the SMS look on his phone. Anyway to add this theme to my G2X. Its simple and Clean look.

No, the Samsung SMS app is not the same app. It's an app that samsung actually developed just for their phones.

You can flash a MIUI Rom and then download a galaxy s theme. You can apply the theme to the SMS app only if you wish.

GO SMS or other sms apps probably have an SGSII theme

Is there any reason it couldn't be just installed like a normal app, or at least via adb as a system app?
Edit: I mean the sgs 2 app.

Because it was coded by Samsung for Samsung phones. Simply installing the APK will likely result in force closes whenever you try to open the app.

Unless it's coded with something where it must utilize something that only a Samsung phone has, sort of like an OEM BIOS check, there shouldn't be any FC's. If someone will extract and post the apk, I'll install it on my phone and text it.

I highly doubt that it will work, it will more than likely force close everytime u try to open it. If it was as simple than just installing the apk a lot of people would have the sms app of different phones.
I'm pretty sure to get it working on the g2x u would need to edit some stuff to make it function properly.

Won't work. It's tied into Samsung's TW UI. The apk. will do nothing. Best advice is to go with Go SMS and use the SGS2 theme. Or you can change the colors around yourself to match what you want.
