[Q] Thunderbolt or wait for Verizon Galaxy S II? - General Questions and Answers

I need a new phone. Should I get the Thunderbolt now or wait for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S II to come out?

No question I would wait for the Galaxy S2 on Verizon, it will be night and day better than the outdated Thunderbolt. Dual cores, more RAM, way better screen, and I am sure will have very strong developer support

I agree. I am in the same boat and have been waiting for some time. The only thing that would stop me is if it does not have LTE. In that case I will have to go with the Droid Bionic.

not to mention that the battery on the thunderbolt drains quickly

[Q] Hi please Advice needed....

Im currentlty seeking for a replacement for my dead Samsung Vibrant but not sure on what to choose...
I have decided on Samsung Galaxy S 2 and HTC Inspire 4G
I Decided on this because both use 850/1900 mhz 3g bands that I will be using overseas.....
Or if you know any other phone with this specs please write it down......
Thanks
Depends. SII released in UK in May. Who knows in other locations. Inspire is readily available.
Wait for the S2 The inspire, is a decent phone But, The S2 is going to be a lasting workhorse just like the Galaxy 2 phone currently is. If you want to go to cdma then the Thunderbolt is a good choice but it is hard to root and the phone itself still has some issues around battery life so that will take time to resolve.
the S2 still looks to be the best choice at this point

Without a predictable release date that could prove to be a risky move. I like my Galaxy phone enough I can wait .....
True, but doesn't he need a phone now? You always buy something cheap on ebay if worst comes to worst.

[Q] Best android phone?

Hi,
Regarding battery life and reliability on voice calls and SMSs, which is the best Android phone we can buy nowadays?
Regards
sam sung Infuse 4G, my first choice
as of now in the U.S. @ least i would argueably say the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G on Sprint or the AT&T variant are the best in the states. I say the sprint version is better because, i hate AT&T and essentially they are the same phone but i would go with Sprint before AT&T
Nexus S is a pretty nice phone. Id wait for the Nexus Prime though, its bound to be good.
I agree, I would say the upcoming Nexus Prime looks real nice
The battery life is **** on all devices, with internet permanently on and heavy usage you can exspect about a day.
With internet off you can get 3+ days.
The galaxy S II is the best one for now.
try an evo 4g or 3D
Best one i know with quality/price relation is ideos x5 .although the camera is not that good , but for the price its unbeatable.
Top 10 Android Phones
1.Samsung Epic Touch 4G
2.HTC EVO 3D
3.HTC Sensation 4G
4.T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide
5.Samsung Charge
6.Motorola Droid Bionic
7.HTC ThunderBolt
8.T-Mobile G2x (with Google)
9.Motorola Atrix 4G (AT&T)
10.Motorola Photon 4G
Just for reference.
I really like my Sony Xperia Pro
Nexus Prime is quite good.
Samsung Galaxy S-III is soon to be released. Galaxy S III will come with a dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will feature a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S III will have a 12MP camera.
.Totally subjective but I think the Galaxy S II is the best phone on the market right now. Though the Nexus Prime and S III is coming if you want to wait

according to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
its the same processor in both. the international Raider is clocked at the same speed and the AT&T variant (Vivid) is slightly Underclocked from the factory. but they are both capable of the same speeds.
You don't even say why you want to return it.
I've personally contemplated getting the Galaxy Nexus (unlocked), but I'm torn between the two.
The main GN selling points for me are the higher res display, notification light and NFC out of the box. On the other hand, it's got a crappy camera, no LTE (plus I'm hearing lousy signal and data speeds on AT&T).
What I love about the SR is obviously LTE and the camera, but on the other hand I hate the 800x480 res and sound quality of both ear speaker and loud speaker is sub-par. Plus, no notification light is killing me, reminds of my days with an iPhone. Why does Samsung omit this feature is beyond me.
If you can live w/ less internal memory, than the LG Nitro HD LTE might be good.
But the dev suport on the lg will be a gamble

The skyrocket is a really good device, you might as well keep it. Your other option on ATT is the vivid which I have and is a great device. But don't worry, with this CarrierIQ thing going on right now (which seems to be ATT only and not Google, Samsung or HTC) you ptobably should be able to opt out the contract at any time since you didn't sign up for that crap...

Ciq isnt just att.....the samsung epic is the first phone i believe to be discoverd with it thats sprint, and that was discoverd almost a year ago. But i am suprised no one has tried to see if they could get out of there contract yet due to it... i believe it was k0nane who discoverd it on the epic
Then it looks like the SR is the best choice for the next 6 months or so. Honestly, I haven't even looked at new phones that were coming out for AT&T. The LG phone doesn't look appealing as there is only 4gb on board which is crazy for a smartphone these days.
Thanks for the info!!

This is my concern. The only two gripes I have about my skyrocket are the screen lines and the poor audio...The LG Nitro screen quality may be better resolution, but it is still LCD. I doubt audio is any better than what it was on the thrill. On that note...the thrill has hod absolutely no developmental improvements since I left that device over a month ago.
I have no interest in the Vivid (heavy, washed out screen, bootloader issue) so the Nitro would be my only choice at the moment and I just don't see that happening...4gb internal memory and no development....the SR will prolly be the better choice to tide me over until mid '12
We have another upgrade available next week so we may pick up a nitro to compare side by side.

Where are you seeing this? None of the reviews I've read have mentioned that. One thing that may not be widely understood is that you need to have your account provisioned to get HSPA+ data speeds. The old wap.cingular.com gateway is apparently capped in terms of data speeds. You need the IMEI of a "4G" capable AT&T phone in order to get a 4G data plan and the right code added to your account - AT&T doesn't recognize the IMEI of the GN as 4G capable. My plan is to buy the SGS2 Skyrocket with my upgrade, activate it on the 4G unlimited data plan, then sell it and use the SIM in an unlocked GN once the 32GB HSPA+ GN is available.

I read it in multiple posts here on XDA under the GN section. My line was fine with HSPA+ since I had the Atrix, and they said I wouldn't need a new SIM for the Skyrocket...which I believe since I'm getting 45mbs here in DC.

[Q] New Phone!

Would any of you guys suggest buying a Samsung Epic Touch 4G now? or the iPhone4s? I currently have an HTC Evo 4G and the power button gave out... it only works if I don't let the screen time out ):.
My question is, do you think I should buy the Samsung Epic Touch 4G or iPhone4s, OR wait for the rumored iPhone5/Samsung Galaxy SIII?
I would suggest the epic touch 4g

Wait for the Galaxy SIII. You could also consider the Evo 4G LTE - http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-EVO-4G-LTE-Approved-by-FCC-Pre-Orders-Start-in-May-264450.shtml (since you had an Evo, it may make you feel more "at home").

If you are serious about waiting and iOS platform you should wait a few months to start getting the "new" iPhone rumors and release date.

I think there's a website where you can get all kinds of people submitting ROMS, each with customization, themes, adjusted apps, all for the iPhone4s. Oh wait, actually I don't' think there is.
Neither, because you'll be able to get a much better phone by may/june
Well, since mostly everyone is telling me to wait... is there anyway to get my phone to function? I either have to leave the screen on and not let it timeout, or pull out the battery and put it back in to view a text/email.
I went from an Epic 4G Touch to an iPhone 4S for 2 months, and regretted it. The only saving grace of the iPhone is that it feels expensive and looks good, but from a usability standpoint you will be really limited in what you can do with it, even jailbroken (which you can't jailbreak it now anyways if you buy it new). I'm on a white Epic 4G Touch now. There's no place like home.
I'd say wait for the Evo 4G LTE, but the Epic 4G Touch is without a doubt the fastest phone out right now, even faster than the Galaxy Nexus. You can't go wrong with it. But like others have said, wait to see around next month and June. If you HAVE to pick a phone right now, Epic 4G Touch. If you have to pick one now and want to sell it later, get an iPhone 4S, call Sprint to have them unlock it, then sell it on eBay for $600 and buy the Evo 4G LTE off contract.
i guess I might have to go with the epic 4g touch... idk how much longer I can survive without a phone lol

Well, if you need it now, then the Samsung Epic 4G Touch is one of the best options you have.
in my opinion wait for the galaxy s III or whatever they will call it.
I hope it will be announced until the last of April, And don't listen to any rumor in the internet right now 98% are imaginations and lies...
I'm still using the trusty EVO 4g but will be upgrading to the new EVO LTE when it comes out. That is one killer phone.

Need Help, Advice, or Reviews of New phones - I am looking for a new one

Okay I am looking for a new phone on T Mobile. I am looking at Samsung Galaxy S III. Does anyone have one and give a review on it. Are there better phones on T Mobile or phones that may be coming out this year that I should wait for? Does anyone know if any phones with the Nvidia Tegra are going to be coming out for T-Mobile
The only in depth reviews for Galaxy S III were for the international version with the quad core.
Does anyone know if HTC One X will work on T-Mobile?
depends what are you needed..
generally...sgs3 have a more performance...
but one x is have the beautiful design
htc one x will work on t-mob but am not sure about data bands.. check for data bands otherwise you may stuck with 2g.
galaxy s3 will be best choice , but also check htc one s
it should depend on how long you want to stick with the phone, and whether you want to use 3G or 4G/LTE...

The One X will only work on 2G/EDGE speeds until the refarm is done in your area. I personally didn't like the S3 because of the size so I went with the HTC One S. I think the 1S has the perfect size for a phone and has the same processor as the T-MO S3 but it all comes down to what YOU want in a phone.

I think the refram has been done. They are pushing for the family to upgrade phones right now. My mom still has an old flip phone. Her signal seems to be getting worse.
I just looked it up and apparently the quad core SIII and the One X are not available in the US. Does the One S have a MicroSD slot? The SIII does have a slight advantage with the extra gig of ram. As for size i really need to hold them and see if they can fit comfortably in my pocket.
