I will be visiting Germany in a month's time. I'm currently thinking of getting an O2 SIM card with the 200MB data plan. This should allow me to navigate using Google Maps and doesn't block Skype. If you know any better option, please tell me .
I will be staying there for just a bit over a week. Network coverage needs to include Hamburg, Kiel and Berlin. I'll be landing at the Hamburg Airport, I would prefer to buy the SIM card in the Airport if I can find one there, otherwise can any can point me at the right direction to get one. Many thanks for advices.
I'm so looking forward to put my Nexus S to real use.

Hello,
We are traveling to Spain. Will be in Barcelona and then the Andalusia region. Will I have data access in these areas? What companies provide a SIM card I can use on my unlocked ATT phone?
Do you know how much they generally cost, and what sort of plans are offered?
Thank you for the help!
The main Carriers are MoviStar, Vodafone and Orange.
For 3G the best is Vodafone, about prices and roaming I think is the best you can get

Where do I buy one? At the airport, Or is that a ripoff?
I cant figure out how much they will cost for a 3g data package including voice.
Hows the coverage through Andalusia?

So Im in Jerez spain and everywhere I've been, every phone store says you can not buy a prepaid sim for data. I know they sell unlimited data sim cards that last 7 days for 29 euro. I see them all over the web, but the vodafone stores have no clue about this, they say only minutes! Maybe I need free gps program since I can not use google maps now. arg. Any suggestions??
thanks!
that depends.topons.com
you can have a look .maybe you can save more.
As a follow up:
I got a movifone sim from Corte Englis but could never get it activated right after over an hour I said screw it.
Then I got a YOIGO sim card from a mobile phone store. I think the store was actually Movifon. After spending 10 minutes telling me they dont make a simcard for data, I looked through the plan book and found one. They set up for me then. It was unlimited data, but I think it capped the speed after so much use. Because after a while of Google maps the speed got REALLY agonizingly slow. Then the next day it would be highspeed again.
It costs me like 15 Euro for 2 weeks.
Hi,
I'm going to be on vacation in the states from December 21st to January 6th. Gonna stay in NYC for a couple of days, then travel down the coast to Miami, by car.
I have a Google Nexus One that I would love to be able to use over there (on the road). Primarily for the Internet connection. I would probably need at least 1GB of data. (a bit email, a bit google maps, a bit gps, maybe book some events)
Anyway. What options do I have? What operators can I use with my Nexus One to get the 3G working? ATT? T-Mobile?
I guess the best option would be some kind of prepaid plan, right?
I tried checking their websites but couldn't really understand it all. Hopefully someone can enlighten me on how I should get mobile Internet on the American east coast
Thanks in advance!

I'll soon be taking a three week trip equally split between the USA and Canada. Like most people on this forum, I'm going to want data access from my GSM smartphone for the duration, especially Google Navigation. Of course using my Orange UK contract SIM is out of the question because I don't intend to remortgage my house. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good SIM which will allow reasonable data changes across both countries?
In the past I've used T-Mobile for USA-only trips, but it appears the charge $10 a Mb in Canada which is out of the question. AT&T appear to be similar. The best deal from the Canadian networks in the USA appears to be $1 a Mb which is also too much. Is the only solution really to get two SIM cards?
I know their are many specialist roaming SIMs available, but I haven't come across any which cover this combination well. Any insights would be welcome.
Ok... Questions. I'm going to Europe in a few months. Currently on T-MO US with a Radar. What is the best way to get internet over there? I'll be in Italy, London, etc. I know what to do once I'm online, i.e., via Skype, Google Talk, SIP clients, etc. but what is the best solution for internet access on the go? I don't care whether it is tablet, phone or laptop. I can figure out tethering and what not. I just need to know how to have broadband internet from wherever I am. Is it something like this: http://www.trustive.com/price-plans/?
Are there other solution? Should I just put an overseas sim in an unlocked device? Are there better carriers? Best roaming? Etc.
THANKS
Bump........
The radar i believe has the capability of roaming in Italy but i would recommend you unlock it and get a sim when you get there.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I think the roaming is pretty expensive - so I'd buy a prepaid simcard.
If you visit Germany I'd recommend "AldiTalk" - it's not the best mobile network but the cheapest simcard with cheap flatrates.
So there isn't one good global solution, huh? No one used Trustive?
Uuuhmm... I don't think so - but I've heard about an Irish Carrier - don't know the name yet - which you could use. The roaming fee's aren't as high as on the other carriers...
The best thing you can do is get a SIM card in each of the countries you are gonna visit and use their system. Roaming would be very expensive.
i think the cheapest solution is to get new sim, pre-payed one for each country, so you got the whole connectivity in mobile data with no issue and no fees with roaming and other things like this
edit :just checked on the link you posted, even more confident in a new sim, in Italy you can get a new one for 1Gb month, with something like 5 euros with most of the carriers
Ah i found it - you can buy an irish sim card via ebay - i think the carrier is meteor or vodafone with very cheap roaming fees...
BUMP........
Hi guys, im going to turkey for a 2 weeks next month. I was hoping to pick up a micro sim on PAYG or such so I can have 3G while im away without ending up getting a bill that would make a lottery winner choke.
From what I've read you have to register your IMEI number over there if you dont your phone stops working after 15 days, but as Im not staying for that long Im not sure it would matter. Though id appreciate some advice on that.
Also any advice on network to use to give cheap or unlimited data (I dont care about texts and calls), and possibly coverage (im staying around Marmaris) would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm from Holland and staying in turkey for some time. It's true after some days your phone gets blocked from using Turkish network, if you don't register it here. However as you said that won't be a problem for you. I suggest you to get an Avea sim card since I have had the best experience with them coverage wise. As far as I remember you can get 500mb and 100 minutes/SMS for 20 Turkish lira. Which is rather cheap. So I really suggest you to take an Avea sim card
Sent from a galaxy far away.
When I went to turkey i ended up using an Ekit international SIM (Get them on EBAY),
Data is 0.25gbp per Mb
I topped up by 10gbp online and got another 30gbp or so free to use, came back from turkey with about 6gbp left on the SIM.
It was a lot easier than trying to find the tax office, register the IMEI then find an mobile phone shop and get a SIM - more time to be on the beach/by the pool
Enjoy Turkey, Happy travels
