This is literally my 3rd transformer and I am still having this annoying popping sound. I'm sick of having to return this thing. Using the kernel with voodoo doesnt help either. I feel like if we allowed a sound file to play in the background all the time then this wouldn't happen. I know that's a stupid fix but idk what else to do. Any input?
What version of Android are you on? The popping noise only happened when I turned off the screen while music was playing.
After the 3.2 update, it no longer makes a popping noise. If your on any version under 3.2, I suggest you update and see if it's still there.

ya im using Prime 1.9 and have tried revolver and it still happens.
Update!
Going back to stock 3.2 (with root) has fixing 99% of this issue. Very happy!

Since the 3.2 update my xoom does some strange crap. Turn the screen to fix it, apps stop working, wifi has gotten glitchy, typing lags then stops lagging, videos go out if sync, unlock screen in portrait mode when your holding it in landscape. Anyone notice the weirdness?

Mine is usually pretty good better than previous versions. Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe try a reflash?
Are you running the stock 3.2 or the leaked version from here? My issue is with wifi dropping in and out but I am unsure if that was from the 3.2 or the ROM (Tiamat) that I'm running. If it was related to 3.2 I'll just return it and get a new one
Wifi didn't start acting funny until the 3.2 update. My wife just got a xoom and it does the same thing. She is stock and I'm rooted. It has to be a google screw up. I mean I had typing lag on 3.1, but heck wifi and all the weird crap with 3.2 is getting to be stupid.

Thanks for the stock portion... This will help me as a I pursue an exchange. It shouldn't be on ROM developers to come up with Google/Moto flaws.
Exchanging won't fix it though. I may move back to 3.1 stock root. I can deal with typing lag.

Right - i was hoping the ones at the store would just come with 3.1 installed and i wouldn't process the 3.2 update. Sorry should have been clearer
You can go back to 3.1. Unlock it and get the files off of Motorola development. It will be stock 3.0, but then it will update to 3.1 and you can relock it back. Only thing is, it will still try to update to 3.2. Or you can unlock, return to stock, then root at 3.1 stock. That's what I may do if I can't get the weird to settle.

my xoom was laggy when i updated it to 3.2 by using usb OTG method. Then, i decided to root it. Now, it's running smooth. You might try to do factory reset, i might help.
I've yet to notice any problems after doing the following:
1. Unlocked and flashed to U.S. HWI69 3.0.1 ROM.
2. OTA updates to 3.1 and 3.2.
3. Rooted and installed ClockworkMod 4.0.0.4.
I don't have any problems with my Xoom on stock 3.2
Try a GT10.1 with Toutchwiz UX if you want to see problems
Stock video player bug
Whenever I try to open a video file instead of a box popping up asking me what app I want to use to play the video file, the screen just dims. I've tried rebooting, restoring, and unrooting and it still happens. I've alo noticed when I hook up my flash drive through USB OTG the same thing happens with not only video files but photos as well. I regret updating to 3.2 because its given me so many problems.

Known bug in HC3.2--make sure auto rotate is enabled in settings and when you have that dimming situation, just rotate the Xoom (e.g. landscape to portrait) and the "picker" box should pop-up.
It's wierd, I know.

Thanks, I was losing my mind trying to figure this out.

Has anyone else experienced their sound on the transformer cutting out? Ever since the ICS update the sound on my tab would randomly just stop working. The only way to fix is for me to restart the tab.

Yes, it appears to be a bug... Haven't been able to determine what causes it yet though... I too have to reboot when it happens.

Yes I get random loss of audio also random reboot. I hope the update next week fixes this...

Yes, same here, append randomly, and I have to reboot to have sound back.
WW Rom !
A new OTA is scheduled for next week ?
I have the new OTA, and I always have the same issue !
same here, got this problem since ICS update, never had this before ...
it is a shame that this release haveall these troubles (sound, reboot, market ...)
Bump.
This issue is very annoying. I also noticed that when the no sound issue appears, I have a slightly less responsive touch screen. Reboot fixes both.
Hey my ATRIX 2 is stuck on on a notification sound. As in no matter what sound I pick it still plays the one I originally picked and won't let me select anything else....I mean sure I can pick something but it won't play it lol.
Any ideas on how to to fix this? This is on stock latest gingerbread.
EDIT: Awe nevermind I am stupid, I had to change it in message settings. I swear it wasn't like this on my Nexus One.

Hey there,
Just curious if anyone else sees this problem? And if there's a known reason or fix? Pretty much like the topic name says.... sometimes tapping the clock just does nothing, no matter how deliberately I tap or hold it. I know it isn't hardware because when I rotate into the other other orientation, that portion of the screen that was just the clock now responds fine to touch. A reboot will fix. Thoughts?
EDIT: Should have mentioned - bone stock, unrooted, locked etc. Havent gotten up to any tinkering with this thing, too many bad hardware reports to invalidate warranty lol. Though my hardware seems good so far...
Thanks...

I prefer the ASUS quick setting to stock Android notification, but I don't think I have any problem with them. Have you try cold booting your tablet? Shut down and press power+volume down?
I know you said it's not hardware, yet that sounds like a digitizer problem.
I get this from time to time - I even got it once last night, after flashing CleanRom 2.3... which was a little disappointing.
I've found that if I get a notification of some kind - say, an email being received - it clears this bug and I can then tap on the clock to bring up the quick settings menu and it will work fine from then on. It's only after a reboot that the bug reappears, but then not every time.

Yes. I get the issue since I believe JB update. One work around that worked for me is open setting from setting icon, which I have on one of home menu. Some how after that it works again. So I agree it is definitely not related to hardware.
Hi,
Yes, this happens randomly with my tablet too. Likewise, only since JB.
As noted above a notification does seem to make the issue go away. I have tried all sorts to find the cause but always come up blank. Rebooting also removes the problem.

I had this issue with JB. It was annoying as hell. Went back to ICS because of this and the "black flickering lines" problem. I already posted about this, but maybe it was on TF and not here... It's a bug in JB...

I suffer from this as well.
Yeah, notifications seem to fix it. Glad I'm not the only one... I guess. Really is annoying as hell to not have quick access to brightness settings and stuff. Funny, I didn't know the cold boot required the volume button trick, I thought just a normal shut down / restart did that. Thanks for the tip, I'll do it regularly lol.

Sorry all, but I don't have this issue on my rooted, locked .18 JB. It works very well indeed.
I also have this problem. The only way I can fixitisjust a shutdownand restart. Can be annoying.
Same here... Started after the JB update... One quick fix for me is to plug in my ear-buds and the QSP pops up.. If you don't want to carry around your ear-buds, if you have a pair that you don't use anymore or a damaged pair, you can cut the tip off and carry it around in your case/cover..
hi all,
my tablet will make a yawn sound and i have no idea why. it does it with screen on and off. there dosen't seem to be a pattern to it anyone have an idea?
You probably have an app making the sound. Or it can be a problem with the hardware scraping or something. No sound is produced from the tf300t without coming out the speaker (that I know of, at least.)

My Nexus 7 has the same problem. It has to be an app running in the background. Im just trying to figure out which one. But there is no telling with all the stuff for my kid on there. If u figure out let me know!
I'm stumped. I know is has to be an app, but i force closed all but system apps and it still yawned every ten to fifteen minutes. Then i installed log cat ro try to figure out what was calling for the sound but it stopped for now.

It's Google + mine always does that. It's a loud yawn. It's your hangouts.
