Can I set appointments to happen weekly and more than one day a week without having to create a new event for each day?
For example if i want to set my class for monday, wednesday, friday at 10 am every week, do i have to make one for each day and set it to weekly? So far that seems to be the only way i can do it which seems odd since even my dumb phones could do more than that.
Can anyone help me?

Try "Gemini Calendar" app on the app store. In the option for repeat appointment, you can choose "By days of week" and then select the days.
Will I be able connect that with my normal calendar? I like the look of it better.
Yes, it works with your normal calendar that you use with calendar app.

When you say they work together do you mean in the sense that if i were to put an event in the gemini calendar it shows up in the android calendar?
I'm looking for a way to incorporate the choosing multiple days function into the normal android calendar. Is there a way to choose or add the gemini calendar in the normal calendar?

I use Gemini calendar as it has a better widget and it allows me to click links for numbers and uRLS. it uses the same database as the stock calendar, so the always see the same data.
You should be able to create anything in Gemini and see it in the stock calendar. It is not its own calendar separate from everything else.
Okay now I Have another question? Is there any way to add multiple calendars the are offline and require no synching? I would like to color code my personal, school, and work but seems like the only way to do that is to other synching account such as exchange or gmail.
OK, so the standard contacts manager on android sucks.
Is there a separate Contact manager app for android with ability to add/edit additional fields (birthdays, anniversary etc)? I also want those fields to sync normally with gmail and show up on the calendar (Contact's birthdays and events).
Sorry if this been asked before. I have searched but, couldn't finds what I'm looking for.

What phone do you use? On my Captivate we have that function built into the TouchWiz Contacts app.
This would actually be a very nice addition for me as well. I have a Moto Droid and the standard Android Contacts manager does stink for not allowing you to edit these fields.

Yeah, I don't have touchwiz and not very sure how it works there.
I'm very surprised that with so many apps out there nobody has done a simple app (I don't really know how simple is it) that can do contacts->calendar events sync with google. I would think all that needs to be done is ability to add 2 date fields to the contact record. Is there something (google/os?) blocking this?
What I simply want to do is enter a birthday and anniversary for the contact on the phone, and want those dates show up on that "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar. Can do it using Gmail on PC (sadly only 1 anniversary shows up ), but phone contacts app has no such functionality. Been waiting for this thing forever.
Thought to up the topic and ask again before giving up.
There is really no android app with such functionality?
Well your phone gets all of that info from Facebook (if I'm understanding you correctly), and facebook is different then google contacts. It shows up the same on the phone, but you'll notice that on your google account, you don't have those contacts.
It's impossible, currently, to get your facebook information to gmail. They are feuding intensely about this. If you've got a yahoo or windows live account, you can import into windows live, then export to google using vcf files.
This will make all of your contacts GOOGLE contacts, and then they will be fully editable.
I personally am opting to wait a few months for this to happen on its own. Google and Facebook are battling right now, but they'll come to a truse and facebook will allow google to get contact information, rather then excluding them and letting other providers do it.
There a few facebook apps, however, that will get the names and birthdays to your google account. From there, you can edit them. But none of them will include email addresses.

You didn't get me. I don't care about Facebook. All I want is an app that I can use to edit a contact to add a birthday or anniversary on a phone. Standard contact manager on the phone only allows me to add an extra field (like a note). I can put something like this "birthday: 01/01/2001" in that field, and it will sync this info with my google account. The problem is that somehow that custom note field is not formated correctly and that birthday date does not show up automatically in Google's "Contact's birthdays and anniversaries" calendar.
If I enter the birthday date through Gmail on my PC, then date does show up automatically in that calendar.
So what I want has nothing to do with facebook.

It does what I want in paid version, but it's a bit too much money for such simple function.
Couple of other apps that I have tried before got updated and now do offer what I need (and they are free).
I'm set! Thanks

Do you mind sharing what apps you're referring to? I'd like to have this functionality as well.

There is a Birthday Manager app, EboBirthday and some other one (forgot the name). Both of those sync the dates with google contacts once you put it in the app. You can also do Anniversary. And those dates do show up in the google calendar "contacts birthdays and anniversaries". That's all that I needed.
This functionality really need to be in the OS itself.
I'm with the OP - This really needs to be part of the stock Google contacts and be editable from your device. We also need higher clarity contact pictures too!
Hey developers,
i wonder if it's possible to build an app that can sync googlemail correctly, with all options (labeling, different adresses, etc) and also syncing the google calendar with all options such as multiple calendar support, etc.
Togehther with a livetile that shows new mails and a toast notification for appointments this could be a killer app for WP7 and would make me switch immediately to WP7.
I don't know much about programming, it's just a question about the possibility.
Any Ideas?
Yes, it is possible.
Thanks a lot for your detailed answer...
Is anyone working on this kind of app?
I have the Samsung focus, and gmail works perfectly. I can see all of my folders, all labels. As far as the calender, it only shows the primary.
Not really sure what you're asking for. All of that functionality is baked into the OS. You can sync your gmail and it'll create a new mailbox icon that you can pin to your start screen. And you can sync your google calendar to your calendars which give you notifications of appointments.
Why would you want a separate app?
Example:
Calendar:
I have six different calendars, all in one account.
WP7 shows only the main one.
Under android, all calendars are shown.
E-Mail:
Of course WP7 displays the labels as folders but not as labels.
I do often label an e-mail with two or three labels without moving it to a folder.
It stays in my in-box.
If i do a search under WP7 to look for a special label, then only those mails are found who have been moved to the appropriate folder.
To use all the features of googlemail the syncing of WP7 isn't good enough.
That's why i'd love to have an app for that
I don't know if SuperG calender has everything you want, but it might hold you over...no live tile, no notifications, but it will show all your google calenders

Thanks for the hint.
Tried it.
Does not display any calendar... all it does is displaying error codes.
1,99 EUR wasted.
Only to inform you if anyone wants to try this app out.
Still looking for an app that fits my needs

The calendar problem is the same with Windows Live calendars - I'm not sure what the deal is with that
Gmail shows the labels as folders when using IMAP - it'll be the same in any email program that connects with IMAP. The issue with this is that it will stay in the inbox and appear in all the folders for which it is labelled - if I label something in my inbox with "XDA" and "WP7", it will appear in the inbox folder, as well as the "XDA" and "WP7" folders, but it is the same item.
It wouldn't be so bad if the mobile Gmail site wasn't so useles....

Agree.
I don't understand why only the main calendar is synced.
Does no one in Redmont use more than one calendar (friends, work, private, other companies)?
Unfortunately i need at least four of my calendars for my business.
Let's hope, a dev has a heart and solves our problem

All i can see in this app are error codes:
> network error getting calendar...<
All six of my calendars are getting the same error.
Made sure a million times that email and password were correct.
Tried with wlan and 3G... no worky.
Would like to get in contact with the developer but in the app description there's no contact data.
Anyone know this dev?
Hi all!
I am looking for best calendar app & widget for my purposes. I need app which understand html-description (like stock calendar understand) but I need also:
Ability to create private appointments
widget is showing also appointment description
So far PI is quite close but it didn't understand htlm-description. Touch calendar shows appointment description but I don't find widget for that and it also do not understand html-description. Stock calendar would be fine but it doesn't show appointments in monthly lookout. Business calendar has a great widget but it doesn't understand htlm-description.
Anybody have a good suggests!?
Try this one!

I use Simpel Calendar Widget that suit my needs.
Earlier i used Agdenda Widgets but it had some problems with ICS - but it sholuld be fixed in later versions.

Either you did not understand what I wanted or I am stupid... Because I am not able to find descriptions when monthly widget is open.
I do not want a listed appointments but instead of that I need weekly or monthly widget which is showing appointments descriptions and descriptions can be html-format.
Business Calendar has nice monthly widget but it do not understand html-code and then whole description is nice mess. Am I only one who is needing this?
you might want to checkout business calendar, got it when it was on sale

Sorry in my 1st message: "Business calendar has a great widget but it doesn't understand htlm-description."
Also I asked that from support:
"Hey Pxxx,
I think our calendar will also have some problems with HTML-description. You can try to use the free version for a short test. Normally it is only possible to show HTML-links in the description field of an event.
With best regards - Christoph Wolf from Business Calendar Support"
So I do not understand why it is soooo difficult to make calendar app with great widget and it also understand html. It is not so nice to read html-code-mess in description. Btw. stock calendar understand that but it has stupid monthly widget.
Ok, I can use both but I want only one apk for that...
Anyone know of an app for a calendar that I can sync to my wife's phone with the same calendar app?
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
Can you just share a gmail calendar with her and then enable that calender on her phone?
What Calendars are you trying to sync? I know that for me I have my Outlook and Gmail calendars synced together with Google Calendar Sync, that way my calendar is always up to date with whatever ROM I'm running (Sense, AOSP, etc.)
I haven't tried anything yet...was just looking for a good app for this

Yeah, the stock Calendar will do this, as well as any 3rd party calendar apps that use Google Calendar as their data source. You and your wife just need to be using Google Calendar, and share your calendars with each other.
As far as specific calendar apps, Touch Calendar is my favorite. It gives you a full month view (6+ weeks actually), while still displaying the time and appointment description (a good # of characters, so you can actually tell what it is). Which is something that the stock calendar and other 3rd party apps simply do not do (or don't do well).
The free version of Touch Calendar works great as a stand-alone app. But if you want put the calendar on your homescreen as a widget (which I like to do), this requires the paid app. But I found it worth the couple bucks to buy the paid app.
If u r looking at a cal app, trust me...nothing but nothing can compare to Calengoo...
