i still have my Stock (unrooted and S-on) Sensation... Fresh boot memory is just under 250mb and after sometime of moderate usage (a day or two), ussually got only 80-150 mb of free RAM...
My (rooted) S2 on the other hand boot @ 530+ of RAM and after almost entire week of usage without reboot, still have 300+ of RAM (thats without killing tasks via task managers because i dont have that on my droids)... yes, i know the fact that S2 does have 1gb of RAM... but why @ 768 of RAM, i only have that small bootup RAM? does Sense 3.0 really take much of RAM or there are many start-up programs that autorun on bootup?
for those who already did the S-off and rooted their sensation, what your boot-up memory reading?
Sound Quality?
Sensation's SQ is really poor (headphone)... im spoiled by my SGSI with Audio fix (thanks Supercurio)... i read somewhere that Sensation also has Wolfson Audio chip, just dont know if its the same variant with that of SGSI... Is thier any chance that we can have same audio fix done on SGSI on our Sensation?
Sense 3.0 sucks it up, along with android taking its fair amount to run stable and all. I think.

hey guys.
i m user of htc desire hd. i got 580 mb of ram like everyone but due to installtion of app it remains to 250-280mb after killling apps with appkiller.
is there any way the developer has made to increase ram or transfer sd card memory to ram or use sd card as ram....?
kindly help me and tons of other desire hd users....!
this interests me as well, though i am pretty sure it's a bad idea to use the sd card as ram if you plan on using it for other purposes as well (i'd compare it to hyperboost with usbsticks on win7/vista,which sucks)
I would not recomend using appkillers, Not only they are usless you might harm your phone. Those aplication you are killing are working in background and using very little memory. You cant even tell how little. Use appkiller just to monitor how many ram a program is using.
Hello i just wonder if it's possible to get more ram acces on htc sensation in the most rom you have like 560 ram, the phone have a kapasitet off 768 mb ram, if you can get more ram free the phone will be faster i think. Can some devoper answer me on that question if it possible to do that?
You don't think that a dev would get us more RAM if he could do that. Some of the total RAM is used for system processes and will never show up as available.

More ram doesn't mean more speed.
If you deleted a lot of HTC stuff i looks like you get more speed with more ram available.
That isn't true, with those deleted apps you also kill a lot of background processes.
Thats the cause of speeding up.
On the other had your GPU also takes some ram if you increase it to gain more ram your GUI will be horrible.
Looking at the Bricked kernel which has even taken more ram to increase smoothness when playing games ect.
i have an idea
It's not exactly how much ram you have.. its about how much free ram. I'm running what's in my signature and I also have this app called app quarantine that helps. Maybe look into it? Try it out.
Also arhd Roma and fauxs latest kernels give extra RAM with zram and zcache
Why am I noticing in some Sense Roms, there's only 562 and then theres some with 613? Also the Sensation has 768 of ram right? Why can we access all of it yet?
We can access it all, Sense is using what we don't see
As far as i know, some of total RAM is used by system processes and it will never be shown as available..
GPU is using RAM also..
And remember, more RAM does not mean more speed..
Cheers
p.s. There was thread about this here in Q&A section use search
Depends on the kernel as well, how much ram to give to the GPU and the system.
Thanks guys. I get it now haha.
How come the HD2 shows more RAM in the Manage Applications options? My girlfriend's HD2 typically has 200+ MB free, while my SGS 4G always has around 130 - 150 MB free.
Here it shows that the HD2 has weaker hardware for memory than the SGS 4G, so I'm just curious.

Can HD2 record/play 720p videos? If not, that's probably where the biggest difference is coming from.
I'm not entirely sure, the most time I've spent with the HD2 was rooting it and flashing a ROM for her. Why would that be the case if we're not constantly playing a 720p video? I'd understand if my average RAM was what it is while playing a video, but instead the average is like that all the time.

Friend, it took me a while to understand how RAM works on phones. It's used differently than on PCs, which is what I'm familiar with. I wouldn't pay it any attention if your device is still functioning smoothly.
For 720p the GPU needs more dedicated RAM. This memory is reserved and cannot be used by anything else (unfortunately.)
It' is possible to build a kernel with about 64MB more RAM available (google 64MB RAM hack), but you'll lose ability to work with 720p.
Ah, that makes sense. I know nothing about building custom kernels, and really don't want to risk breaking the ROM I have currently installed. The effort doesn't seem to be worth what I'd get out of it. Thanks for the insight!
dude, don't remove 720.
The camcorder records terribly with it, imagine it without it.
also, this phone has more powerful processors and a bigger battery (needs to be handled more carefully) Also, cpu/gpu is better.
Hi guys! I see a screenshot somewhere with 420 RAM free on ARHD.Post your RAM free after cleaning on Sense ROMs and how did u get so much (if u get 300+ free)
Here is mine:

As posted multiple times, it actually doesnt matter one jot how much free RAM you have as long as its over a certain threshold (for Sensation its about 100-120mb). More free RAM after that much is essentially just wasted and if you deliberatly make your phone have the maximum amount of free RAM possible then you are killing its multitasking ability.

This - if you are addictively clearing RAM all the time, well then you are simply wasting it.
