[Q] I need help with my tablet draining battery too quickly - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm having a serious issue here. I unplugged my Transformer from my charger about about 11am today. I have used it, according to the screen on time in the settings, for 34 minutes. (it's now about twelve hours later.) However, the battery life is at 64%. I just don't understand this. My wi-fi is set to disconnect when screen turns off, and brightness is at about 55-60%. But look at this.

Does anybody have a clue what could be going on? If you need more information about what state it is in, I'll be glad to provide more details. It seems like this started after I updated to 3.2, but that could be unrelated.

After updating did you set up the wifi power saving again? There is a bug in android where this setting gets reset when the device is rebooted

Yeah, I double checked when I posted this and it was still on "when screen turns off".

Try using juice defender. And check your running services/applications/auto sync cuz i see there alot of wifi actifity and your device is awaken even though the screen is off.

You could try using an app called Sysem Panel by NextApp.
You will need the paid version so that you can turn on the Monitoring option in the settings - this allows you to monitor the CPU usage over 2h/8h/1d/3d.
You can also monitor Top App usage of CPU which is fantastic for identifying the culprit.

Battery Usage Stats missing items

I'm finding that the Battery Usage Stats are always missing apps from the list as posted below. Can anyone else confirm what they see on 2.3.4 ROMS and state whether it's OTA/Stock or custom. Thanks.

I think apps won't show because in comparison to the screen, WiFi and Android OS they use almost no power. Apps eventually do show when they are used more intensively.
However if you want to monitor which apps use most power, I suggest you use BetterBatteryStats (xda-topic). This will let you track apps who wake your phone and which apps draw most power. It's a very useful app.

What ROM are you running?
I've just had beyondpod playing with presto playback speed plugin for the last 90 minutes with screen mostly off and see the attached. There's definitely something amiss as I've seen them listed before and look how much they've drained my battery since the last screen grab posted above.

Android OS consuming too much battery!

last night i slept for around 8 hours, before i slept, i had battery power at 65% left, i wake up in the morning to find 27% left! now i think that verrryy much for idle state as my wifi, edge, games, calling/texting and screen were completely turned off for many hours. i look up the battery stats and found that Android OS had consumed 51%. below is the screenshot.

somebody please tell me why is that? and how do i get more life out of my battery?
Maybe your phone only goes up to 9 hours...
Maybe it's kernel related.. Are you on custom rom already?
My Droid on a JB ROM has the Android OS consume about 90% of the battery and it dies after 8 hours of screen off time, airplane mode. *shrugs* if anyone has a solution id like to know.
Sent from my MB508 using xda premium
This has probably to do with something that is running in the background.
your phone apparently doesnt go into "deep sleep mode" Only in this mode you lose just few % per night.
I recommand to shut off your phone, take out the battery for a few seconds, put it back in, charge it in one go, then turn it on again. See what happens.
You can, of course, sleep with the charger in.
Welcome to Android, for the most part, our battery life sort of sucks :/

WiFi is always On on battery sats

Below is the screenshot of my battery usage. I disabled cell radio and WiFi at 12 midnight until 6am. As you can see radio is off (see the gap) but my WiFi has no gap. I can assure you the WiFi is disabled. I don't see the WiFi icon during those time. FYI since I got the phone last January I really don't disable my WiFi even if not in use. Is this a bug?

In Wi-Fi advanced settings make sure "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is not set to always (Default)
Thanks man. What does "only when plugged in" mean. So even if I set it to always, it does not consume battery? Because I can see that I improve battery after disabling radios. Like I save 8% of battery.

1. always on even in sleep
2. only on in sleep if phone is being charged
3. never on in sleep
Why does the never, increases the data usage? If its never On in sleep. Haha. I'm sorry I'm so dumb haha.

Wifi/Android System/ Android OS problems.

Hi, I need help on this. It has been days since my battery has gone haywire and I don't know what happened. I just saw that my WIFI isn't turning off even though i toggled itoff in settings/quick settings. I thought maybe a simple reboot may fix it but no. I came from CO12 to Exodus to Bliss but all have the same problems. Wifi isn't turning off! All my settings are stock. Kernels are stock also. I'm getting an average battery life of 3 1/2 hrs SOT which is awful for my usage. Also AndroidSystem and OS is killing my battery but I disabled Google PlayServices which should help. My only concern is the Wifi not turning off. Pls help thanks

Hi.
I use this app wich does only cut on and off the network: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.aDataOnOff&hl=en
(you can also apply a screen filter to help stop battery drain)
But I doubt its your only problem... I tested with and without the app, and the difference is almost not visible. Also, my wifi (when app off) is in third place on battery usage, and I have at least a good 5-6 SOT..
(Blisspop - renderkernel R7)
Some people say that it is a common bug in Android 5.0. Can anyone confirm?

The known bug with wifi is not battery drain but the difficulty to connect, to link the network.

30 mins of SOT, 80% battery left, what's wrong?

Connected to wifi, played Tsum tsum for 15mins, SOT 30 mins
adaptive brightness was on
screen brightness was similar to 40% when adaptive brightness is off,
location was off, wifi scanning off
I was not expecting that kind of battery drop when screen on
I'm also noticing that the phone isn't deep sleeping sometimes
Thanks for helping!!

Sounds about the same as mine - around 4 hours SOT and I usually get about 24 hours total from the phone. Also stays awake for seeming no reason. My Z3 was way better in this regard.
Same here! Did Factory Reset solve the problem?

Is there any "benchmark" or normal battery usage for this?
Somehow I seem to get rid of the awake issue but don't know if it really helps
i turned off Settings-->security-->trusted agents-->smart lock
And turned off all apps with usage access except stamina mode and greenify
Also turned off location when not used
