Anyone using a Zagg Screen Protector? - HTC Sensation

Just thought I'd get some opinions. I heard these are quite difficult to install because you have to spray the protector and then apply it wet to your device.
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-sensation-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

there are many brands out there that makes this kind of protector. IMO zagg is the worst because it has the most "orange peel" texture. ALmost all brands I tried is better than zagg. sgp is one of the easiest to install because it sticks easier.
try sgpstore, bestskinever, phantomskinz, and many many more

How is bodyguardz?

i rocked full protection on my first evo, and applied it myself; having said that i can assure you that if you have all ten of your fingers, can follow directions, and are able to count per the instructions its not hard to install. the application of the liquid you receive helps so that the protector doesn't get stuck were you apply; it gives you wiggle room to move it around.

My brother has the invisible shield for his galaxy s 4G, and I love it!!! It is very thick but I don't notice it affecting the screen. It's amazingly efficient and it doesn't have any bubbles at all.

well if its the worst at how it feels, it is certainly the best in protection

I use clear-coat and it works awesome. I've tried zagg and I found it to be too rubbery and also get a yellowish tint after a while

Is there a way to measure the level of protection a screen protector offers compared to another? My friend uses a Zagg on his iPhone 4 and I use a cheap $1 screen protector from eBay for my Sensation and frankly, I can't even comprehend the point of spending so much on what is basically a piece of plastic when there is no proof that it offers better protection.

very true but how long is your $1 protector gonna hold up to surface irritation from keys, lighters, loose change, etc... although i haven't tested any other protectors i can say that the zagg shield had a way of "healing" itself

All of these type of screen protectors (zagg, bodyguardz, skinomi) offer better protection because they don't use plastic. You can see all there videos of phones with them on not getting scratched by keys and other objects. The cheap plastic ones are good for most people but they get scratched and need to be replaced after a while.
I use skinomi because it covers my whole phone from scratches and my screen along with no fingerprints. Cheaper than zagg, bodyguardz, and the others. Only $15 to protect my whole phone and never need to replace.

I've been using the absolute cheapest screen protectors (although I exclusively use ones that have no surface friction on the outer side). I've even driven around in the Sahara desert with a couple of devices (PSP, iPod, phone) using said cheap protectors just dangling around in a bag (therefore, lots of contact at more than ridiculous temperatures) and they've never failed me. In fact, my PSP's $2 screen protector from April 2005 is still on the device and still flawless.
I understand that Zagg offers peace of mind because of its clever marketing, website design and fancy application techniques, but one really should look objectively at what screen protectors really are: Thin sheets of plastic.
Edit: I use the term plastic loosely here since they are all variants of synthetic polymers.

Again, the difference is they don't scratch like the cheap plastic ones, and you can't protect the rest of your phone. For the Sensation that is what concerns me the most since it is much easier scratched than the screen and I would not want a bulky case. If that is worth an extra $10 to you, then get it.

Honest question:
Whats the point of screen protectors for this phone? From what I've read, the Sensation has the same Gorilla glass as my HD2, which in my experience doesn't scratch in most circumstances. Anything that would scratch the screen probably would also get through any of the protectors I've worked with on other devices.
Don't have a Sensation yet, but plan on upgrading after month-end bills.

Although it seems I was mistaken or mis-remembering about the HD2 having it. Not GG, but just an extremely scratch-resistant display. Still, since I bought it at US release, it doesn't have a single scratch.

You are mistaken. Check Corning's site. They list the Sensation, and it's very doubtful they would do that if untrue.
Another post said screen protectors aren't needed. Also untrue if you definitely want to avoid scratches. Just Google "gorilla glass scratch", or search these forums. You'll find lots of users with scratched glass who have no idea how it happened. Gorilla Glass is not scratch proof. Period.
Replacement screens are available, so you can just go bare and replace the screen as needed, or use a SP to prevent scratches, or add one later if you get scratches to cover them.

Yeah I spoke with a Samsung rep and he said that gorilla glass can still get surface scratches. It's just really resistant against deeper scratches.

ZAGG!? Honestly Im a long time user Ive used their screen protectors on several phones and full body on a couple. (one being the G1 that was a horrible idea cause of the phones construction).
Zagg isnt really cheap I mean its $20 bucks by me (i go to Woodfield mall, schaumburg) for JUST the screen protector. But thats INSTALLED by them "professionally" which really depends on the kid doing it but they usually do a pretty good job. They last a pretty good time for the average user, I average 4 months before it starts to get a little rough around the edges and small scratchs appear and hit gets harder to clean. Yeah they do scratch.. Ive done the key test. Your phones safe thats what they advertise but the protector can get damaged.
You cant beat it though for free you can get another to apply yourself or for $5 they'll do it for you right at the kiosk in the mall by me. Never had a scratch using their product so I can say it does its job. One think though they protector does take a little getting used too, just a different texture. All in all I recommend it if you have them install it, unless you have some insane patience, a still hand, and arent afraid to get your device wet (they get them pretty damn wet when they install too).

I use Zagg on all my phones and Tablet. The nice thing about it is that there are less finger print parks, cleans easy, and protects your screen and phone body. Also they have a oftentimes warranty. I don't know about where you live, but I have them installed by Zagg Invisible shield in the mall. I usually get a new one put on every 3-4 months. Also when you sell the phone and put a new shield on it; the phone still looks brand new. I paid $35 for the shield and installation. You get your money back and more when you sell it.

Screen protector recommendation??

I've been through 2 different screen protectors now on my Eris and can't say I was overwhelmed with either. First was the ones Verizon sells. seemed durable but smudged waaay too easy IMHO. Second was off Ebay...part of a package deal with a charger, case, yada, yada. Already scratched to death in spite of reasonable care. Anyone tried one they're extremely impresed with that has stood the test of time (so far) and doesn't cost a ridiculous price?

I think without a screen protector is just fine, the screen protectors can scratch (unlike the screen) and can get WAY to many fingerprints

I also tried the ones from Verizon and one from ebay.
Verizon ones were ok but I kept getting annoyed when going up past the top since it doesn't exactly conform to the actual glass shape.
The ebay ones were the soft type which I really didn't like it almost made the screen sticky feeling?

I've read in a few other places that the Zagg is a little too grippy and doesn't allow your finger to slide easily enough. Your thoughts about this??
I have a zagg, its ok. Ive only ever used zagg because thats what I can buy at work....The only complaints about the zagg would be smudging and fingerprinting.
the zagg is a little grippy at first but you'll get the hang of it. It does tend to hold finger prints
screen protectors? bah!
The droid eris, along with many many other smartphones use gorilla glass, I actually take pride trying to etch away my screen with my set of keys to show off to my friends with phones that dont have gorilla glass.
I have taken razor blades to this thing... seriously... not a single scratch.
and best of all, the eris itself is all rubberized plastic, which if it get's scratched you cant even tell. Had this thing in my pockets with keys and lighters and such and not a bloody scratch anywhere on it.
I just got the Zagg screen protector at BB. It's only been half a day so It's not completely dry yet but I can tell it's going to be perfect. It will take a little getting used to as it's not as smooth feeling as being naked, but I feel pretty good about having bought it.
After seeing the video, I don't use a screen protector at all. I do use a Otterbox Impact case but found that it interferes with the screen sensor. With that said they are sending me a new one for free to see if it's just my particular case.
Personally.. i have the AMZER Privacy screen protector.. pretty amazing.
ive since removed my invisible shield and wow its much better without a screen protector.

Yep. Best made IMHO
I've used Zagg on two of my previous phones. Yrs I loved them and was well with the money. Since I got my Eris, I decided to go with something else. I came across "Phantom Skinz". Apparently it's the same materials Zagg uses but made better. This Phantom Skin has a more smoother feel to it and has less friction when sliding your finger on the screen. I would recommend it over the Zagg any day!

Me too.............
My dad has an iPhone given to him by his office as a work phone, and it came with a screen protector that I have never seen before. I would liken the feel of it to satin as opposed to the glossy Verizon protectors. Does anyone know what kind of screen protector this is, and is it available for the Eris?

Screen protectors, which ones are the best?

So i have the two pack from Tmobile that they sold me comes with anti-smudge ones, but they are getting scratched up rather quick, are there any more scratch resistant protectors or @ 2/$15 are these good?
I use Invisable Shield by Zagg and its sweet, touch works the same after its on, i think it helps glare from the sun but maybe thats just me. But make sure you read the instructions, make sure its placed just right the first time, if you take it off and try to place it again after it sets the first time its gonna be super hard to place it just right again, good luck on that one... but overall i think its an awesome protector, it has a lifetime guarantee too!
I'm currently using the Skinomi screen protector, and it works perfectly. No finger drag when using the screen, and they have a lifetime warranty. To test this, I emailed them and said that my screen protector already have a huge noticeable scratch on it, and they just asked for my shipping information and sent me a completely new package! Wonderful customer service, I recommend it.

Yep, rockin the Skinomi as well. It's excellent.
There are so many available! I like Zagg, but I hate that they charge $5 for a replacement, and they peel mad fast!
I use best skins ever and would never use anything else. They don't peel easy, don't charge a lot for shipping, are pretty cheap, and pretty scratch resistant. Kept my Nexus One in perfect condition from day one.
I have Zaggs Invisible shield on my Z. Very durable(it will most likely outlast the phone itself). Maby a little pricey if you compare it to the cheap ones, but in the other hand the phone is quite expensive too. Fitting the is easy as long as you follow the insructions.
I have a Zagg one on my Z like some others here. I had one on my G1 from day 1 as well, and it is still on it and scratch free. The varnish is peeling off all over the rest of the phone, but the screen is perfect. It is a shame they charge so much, but it is worth the money. I had the peeling problem with the body of my G1, but the screen stayed on just fine, so I just bought the screen protector for the Z.
I used Zagg in the past on many different devices and it is a great product. Protection is top notch but for touch screen devices, the protector is a little thick for my tastes. Don't like the way my finger 'drags' on the screen with the ZAGG.
Currently have the Skinomi on my DZ. Works excellent. Same amount of protection, a little thinner and the touch feel is great. Can't even tell that there is a protector on the screen. Lifetime warranty, haven't had to use it yet. After 3+ months still looks the same as the day I installed it. Highly recommend.
I started with a Zagg full body... hated the way it felt on the screen.
Replaced it with a Skinomi, it feels great but it's got pretty scratched up in the month and a bit I've had it installed.
I have a Clairvue sitting around here which I'll stick on once the Skinomi scratches start to annoy me... will report back then.

+1 Zagg
I started using their Invisible Shields on my G1 and it still looks great. I've gotten a few replacements and haven't had any issues with the warranty.
One issue (and this probably happens with all full body covers) is that the rounded corners eventually lift up a little and collect lint. It's not too bad with the G2, but the G1 had some pretty tough corners to cover.
I have to agree with guys and +1 for Zagg. I bought one of these the same day I purchased my Desire Z:
The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your HTC Desire Z creating a full-screen cover providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find on planet earth. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the U.S. military, where it was used to protect the leading edge of high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris. Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your Device. Our exclusive, patented nano-memory technology film covers and shields your device, always keeping it as pristine and shiny as the day you took it out of the box.
The invisibleSHIELD is only .2 millimeters thick making it the slimmest skin or cover of its kind. It is so tough that we back it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, ZAGG will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.

This shield is amazing and I have never had any problems. I had the professionals at the store install the shield as well, so they guaranteed that their installation would produce zero bubbles or they would replace it. As a Canadian I went to Future Shop and it was great and I couldn't be happier with any other 'case'.
I found that if you're careful for 24 hours following your case installation, you shouldn't have any problem getting the case to stick around the corners. Also as long as you're nice to your phone you shouldn't have the corners lift up.
Clarivue!!!!! or StealthGuard. Zagg products are overpriced in my opinion.
I got a stealthguard for shipping (first class mail, 3 days or so), have had it for about a month.
Application was good after watching the videos involving a drop of soap.
Hasn't come up at the edges, no scratches. It does seem to do a little bit of "self healing" for dings.
I am only using the screen protector, didn't use the other parts of the cover.

I thought Zagg was where it's at....and they are ok but Ghost Armor is king now. I got 2 full body sets for 24.99 and it looks absolutely great. Doesn't have the orange peel feel like the Zagg and is wayyyy easier to install. They are smart and tell you to get some water and put some soap in it and submerge the shield in it before putting it on the phone. This is where Zagg only sends you spray. Your results are that the Ghost Armor goes on so much easier, slides perfectly into place, and has no bubbles at all. The results with the Zagg are kinda different. You could do the same thing with the Zagg (soap water), but of course they don't tell you that, so you end of trying to use as little spray as possible. This results in you having a harder time putting the shield on. So all in all, they are very similar, but I like the Ghost Armor better because its cheaper, easier to install, looks great and has the best method of putting on your shield.

Last time I bothered with a screen protector was when the storm 1 came out on verizon. I ordered it from seidioonline.com and it was easy to put on and lasted a long time.
I did get screen protectors for another phone that verizon sold...I went thru all 3 of them in the pack just trying to put the stupid things on. Waste of money right there.

Verizon AntiGlare Screen Protectors. Worst ever?

I have to say, these are the worst screen protectors I have ever applied on any sort of electronic equipment. Picture quality looks like garbage and it feels horrible. The matte finish makes them feel gritty and a pain to use the phone. Cheap eBay screen protectors work better.
Anybody else used them?
I bought them. I'm stupid for doing so. Rocking the Zagg now. I guess I feel smarter...
Yeah. I never bought them. I received the Fascinate in a trade and the person included an extra. At first I thought they were just horrible at applying screen protectors but then I applied the spare and it looked exactly the same. :/
My friends all have Verizon Screen Proctectors for their phones, and I have to agree, they look like complete crap. I've just been recommending Steinheil and Reallook to them, and they ask why, and I show them my screen. Almost invisible, its like the screen protector isn't even there, and my friends are shocked.

Zagg is worth it. Really is an "invisible" shield. Can't even tell it's there.

Ehh, Zagg is ok. Really comes down to personal preference, but Zagg's matte look and feel isn't really what I would want in a screen protector. Steinheil's Ultra Crystal Clear Protector is amazing.
The Anti-glare screen protectors are garbage no matter where you get them from. I ordered some from ebay and LUCKILY I ordered some regular screen protectors as well and after about 5 mins with the anti-glare I took it off and trashed it and the others and put a regular one on.
Also, the mirror finish screen protectors are bad too
Yeah. That whole matte feel is not my deal. Honestly, cheap eBay screen protectors have been fine.for me with a perfect application and I am very picky about this stuff. I use invisible shields for their body shields though

I too dont have a screen protector on mine even though i bought some and have them sitting in the desk..for some reason i think they will interfere with the sensitvity of the screen.
i made the mistake of buying two packs of verizon's screen protectors when i bought my phone. they were on clearance and i know why after trying one. they were horrible. i was reluctant to buy them even being on clearance after having sensitivity issues on my Rogue, but i figured if nothing else it would protect my screen until my online order of protectors showed up.
i use screen protectors that i bought off some random seller on ebay and they work fine. i get about 5 months or so of use from each one. very clear and no sensitivity issues. i dont know how necessary protectors are with the particular glass on Fascinates but i dont want to learn the hard way. i forget the protector is on there most of the time.

I'm actually considering taking mine off, although the girl at Verizon actually did a good job of putting it on and mine is clear so I can't even really tell that it's there. But I definitely have more scratches on the screen protector than on the area around it (yay Gorilla Glass) and I'm wondering if the screen protector collects more fingerprints than the glass. Anyone know about that? I know some phones have oleophobic coatings but I'm not sure if the Fascinate is one of them.

The fascinate is not one of them, at least from my research.
I have thought about going naked. I am using the Steinheil Anti-fingerprint protectors for a number of reasons. I am sure no one here would like them because they degrade the screen quality but I love them. No finger prints, no glare, 2x faster finger motions (heh yea) across the protector vs. the stock screen.
I'd image that the screen is much like a car windscreen. It will look great for years to come but over time fine micro scratches will build up.
the screen protector they put on my phone came off by the time i got home from the store. heat must have warped it, and would no longer stick. ordered a different one online

Screen protector suggestions?

So I recently got my MT4GS and I was wondering if there were any suggestions for screen protectors. I used Skinomi before on my G2 and that was pretty good. I'm using the MyTouch 4G (Glacier) ones from T-Mobile..
they're not cut to fit the exact screen, but rather a small section (found this unusual), but they stick, and they stick good, plus they reduce glare and such..

by the way, steer clear of those $5 for 8 screen protectors or whatever on amazon, they feel like they're made from cellophane and fall off almost instantly in my pocket.

by the way, steer clear of those $5 for 8 screen protectors or whatever on amazon, they feel like they're made from cellophane and fall off almost instantly in my pocket.

best ones i have found. first one on and still going strong, clean and clear and easy to use, cut perfect.
Those are the ones I was talking about, boy do they suck...
I like their design however, but the material feels like the wrapper of a fruit roll-up, and they peel off easily and scratch easily...
As I said, T-Mobile's screen protectors work good.

I bought these because I figured I'd start cheap, and if I didn't like them, I'd get something else:

I put one on two days ago. They're cut very well to fit, but they're hard to apply. Lots of bubbles, and one edge doesn't stick well.
I figured I'd give it a couple days, then try again with another, since I have five of them. Maybe I screwed up.
But after using it for a couple days, I don't think I will. It feels too... rubbery. It adds resistance when you slide your finger across the screen and I don't like it.
My HTC Tilt 2 (AT&T branded Touch Pro 2) actually came with a screen protector that was easy to apply, had no bubbles, left no residue and lasted almost two years before one corner began to peel. I was not gentle with this phone either.
If I could find the same kind of protector the Tilt 2 had, I'd buy it in a second, but it was just in the box with the phone. No idea if it was provided by AT&T, or HTC, nor who made it.
In my experience, bubbles are almost always caused by dust and lint in between the screen and protector. You can help prevent this by installing the protector on the screen after a hot shower, while the mirror is still foggy.

Lint solution
Slightly off topic, but ...
If you apply the protector, and find that it has bubbles, because of lint, just pull the protector off and use a piece of scotch tape on the protector (sticky side to sticky side) and it will pull off the lint and dust. I've had great success with this in the past.
I've tried a couple of different brands and after using them both a couple of weeks each, I decided to do without. I do believe we have "gorilla glass" so I'm not really worried about scratches and such. Both protectors I tried felt odd and they both scratched extremely easily and they gave the screen a "fuzzy" appearance that I just didn't care for.
Yeah, a couple days after my last post, the screen protector came off. The bubbles definitely were not from lint, the factory plastic was still on the screen until I put the protector on. Maybe just poor quality?
Either way, now that I know the phone has Gorilla Glass, I'm not concerned.

I think you may be mistaken, this device does not have Gorilla Glass to my knowledge.

it does NOT have gorilla glass. maybe some other kind of reinforced glass but i wouldn't count on it, there are already reports of easily broken screens...
I just got a MT4GS and I will try a new screen protector. On my last phone I used a protector from bestskinsever.com and it was good. It did the job and lasted a long time (over a year and a half before getting some junk under the edge of one corner...but it still didn't peel up and I kept using it for months until I got this phone). The only complaint is a bit of "orange peel" texture on it. My research has led me to bodyguardz.com and phantomskinz.com. People claim these two have less orange peel than the bse skins. I would say the bse is 8/10. I will try one of these 2 and report back.
As I said before, the screen protectors T-Mobile sell are actually pretty good.

Zagg Invisable Shield. Product has a lifetime warranty. Yes it cost more but I think its worth it.

I have the UltraTough Clear ScreenGuardz (Dry Apply) from bodyguardz. It is great. I can't even tell it is on there. Zero bubbles and zero orange peel. I even pulled it off after I put it on the first time because it was misaligned.
It had a couple big bubbles I couldn't squegee out, but they went away in a couple of days.

Screen Protector

Anyone can recommend any good screen protectors at a good price? I don't mind paying extra for good quality. The verizon ones blow. Makes the screen look VERY pixelated. Trying to avoid purchasing a screen protecter like that.

Try searching the accessories forum about it, there are more than a few posts here about screen protectors
Zagg Invisible Shield

Yes you should make a search through the forum next time but since this thread is already up..
I highly recommend a ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protector. It costs a little more but its absolutely worth it. They have a model for each specific phone so the protector molds around the camera and corners perfectly. It comes with a whole method of putting it on so its smooth when you finish. Plus if you register the screen protector on their website you can pretty much get a replacement for free if anything happens to the protector which isn't likely but still (too scratched to see the screen or something), plus if that happens it peels right off so you can put another one on and the screen is good as new. But its pretty epically scratch resistant, you can check out vids on youtube or their website. I can't stand when my screens get scratched, so I've been using it for years, very happy customer. They sell them at best buy.
Thanks for heads up guys. Much appreciated

The Charge has Gorilla Glass and is very hard to scratch. Most of us recommend keeping it bare as a screen protector, no matter the quality, detracts from the picture quality slightly.

Use Skinomi, its a pain to put on but its the best and the clearest one I have ever used

These. They have great reviews. I am very happy with mine. Doing it's job well since July 2011. And it comes in a pack of 3 in case you mess up. And it comes with installation instructions. And, for giving them a good review, they offered to send me a pack of screen protectors free. So I got a pack of iPhone covers for my parents. Great company, great product
BTW if you mess up, soaking it in rubbing alcohol works great for removing dust and then you just try again and squeegee with a credit card.

It does have gorilla glass. When the phone originally came out it was on corninggorillaglass.com under products with gorilla glass. Now since it is old news it is off the site, but seeing as every major samsung phone is there like the GS, GSII, note, tab, and wp phones, I am sure the charge has it.

I do believe it does. I've had mine "naked" since I got it and no scratches.

Without screen protector, you droid Charge will get scratch. Already happened to my daughter's phone.
I have never managed to scratch a smartphone screen, Gorilla Glass or not, and I've had smartphones since the original iPhone. I hate screen protectors of all forms. I hate the way the look and the way they feel, so I've never used one for more than a few days. I don't think I'm particularly "gentle" on a phone...the only thing special I do is keep it in a pocket by itself. I've seen other people's phone of various builds covered in scratches, and I still don't understand how they get so scratched up.

Not true! my daughter kept her phone in a pocket book full of car keys, pens and jeweries and she scratched it.

Doesn't matter what type of glass it has, it can get scratched. And not having a screen protector doesn't mean it will get scratched either. The Charge does have Gorilla Glass, but I wouldn't go around testing it out to see how tough it is. Odds are there are minimum hardness specs that it needs to pass, so some pieces of glass are harder than others.
I had mine in my pocket with keys for a year, no scratches. the plastic is scratched to heck, but the glass remains unscathed.
the charge has gorilla glass making it very scratch/crack resistant. i havent had a screen protector the whole time ive had it, which is about 10 months and it still looks brand new. and trust me, ive dropped it my fair share of times, infact i just dropped it earlier today. had it in my sweater pocket while i was riding my bike and it just flat out fell screen first onto the concrete. not even 1 little scratch.
just dont bother with a screen protector, it looks so much better without one.
but if you really are hell bent on getting a screen protector i can recommend Zagg, i had the enV Touch before this phone for 2 years with a Zagg invishield on the whole time. it kinda got that "rainbow" effect from the grease/sweat on your hands but it was very durable and scratch resistant with a nice fit. overall a perfect screen protector for my needs.
So everyone brag about how tough the screen on the charge, how would you explain to me there are 3 scratches on my daughter phone, which forced me to buy a screen protector???? you all claimed it "UN SCRATCHABLE".
I think you're the only person who's used the word unscratchable, but I did imply that you have to be careless to scratch a glass smartphone screen. Keeping my phone in a pocket by itself, and no other protections, has protected my screens without a screen protector since the original iPhone in 2007. Yes, there are situations where a screen protector would make sense, but in those situations, I'd probably rather use a case/holster that completely covered the screen.
