wow....and i thought the blank blocks on the browser is normal in honeycomb.....
why don't you flash prime 1.6 to go back to HC3.1??

that would be worst if it were. when i had 3.1 one the browser was smooth not its sucks. also when i click on a link instead of giving me of which browser to use, the screen dims and thats it. how do i go from 3.2 to prime? i rooted mine, changed the boot animaition but i dont know how to downgrade

[Q] DI18 OTA failed. How to remove CWM Recovery?

Hey guys, quick question:
I'm fully rooted/one-click CWM'd (stock everything, however), and I just got the OTA DI18 update notification. When I tried to install it, it booted to the stock recovery (blue text) and said something about verification of the signature failing...installation aborted.
Now, how would I go about either uninstalling CWM, or reflashing the stock recovery? I can't find anything that really goes into detail about any of this.
Any help would be most appreciated!

Same thing here, except I also had a overclocked kernel. What I did was use ODIN, there is a thread here. I downloaded the stock files full install.
1) Download full recovery image and Pit file
2) Open Odin and point to the PIT file downloaded and in PDA section point to the full firmware.
3) Check only Reboot and Debug in ODIN
4) Power on phone while holding 1 on the keyboard (it will go into download mode)
5) in ODIN press START and flash image
6) Then update to to the new image
7) Re root phone using 1 click
8) Install Clockwork Mod again 1 Click
9) update superuser
Have fun

Whew. Worked with the full release (the zImage.tar failed and near-bricked my phone haha). Getting the DI07 update now, should hopefully see the new one soon-ish. Then I'll re-root and restore my backup.

Can't install stock ROM via CWM

Hi everyone,
After I semi-bricked my TF last time, I followed the "nvflash back to stock" thread to restore to 8.4.4.5. The OTA didn't work (and, as it turns out, neither did Asus's SOP for flashing off the SD card), so I wanted to flash back to Asus's original 8.4.4.5 as downloaded off the Asus website to see if that would help. I went into CWM and tried to flash the Asus's original firmware. I got the following errors:
--Installing: /sdcard/US_epad-user-8.4.4.5.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: write_raw_image ("/tmp/blob", "staging")
E:Error in /sdcard/US_epad-user-8.4.4.5.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks!
Update: I can install other roms (i.e. prime v1.6) just fine, it's just the stock rom that I have trouble with. I can live with prime, but I would still like to know the cause of the errors. Thanks!
I had the same problem, the semi-brick, and for return at stock...
I followed this and worked perfectly!

I think you might need the stock recovery to flash the stock 8.4.4.5. If you have a repackaged 8.4.4.5, then you can probably flash that via CWM. Someone would have to convert the stock rom to a flashable format. I thought I saw a thread with repackaged, flashable roms.

I think that would do it. I will look for that thread because I remember seeing it as well.
DLuke, thanks for your suggestion, but I would prefer not to nvflash (unless it's absolutely necessary) because I'm tired of having to reinstall my apps and losing my saved games on angry birds.

Why not use Titanium Backup (or similar) to back your apps and saved games up?
Heres a link to a thread with rooted firmware you can flash via CWM. I don't know if this is what your looking for but thought I'd throw it out there

There is a database i n /data/data that you can copy and restore it after flashing to keep your Angry Birds "progress"
I think it's something like data/data/com.rovio.something - your goldens eggs are saved in there.

I believe this was the thread referred to above. I wish that it would overwrite recovery too though...go all the way back to stock, but without touching my data. The update to 8.4.4.11 doesn't work if CWM is installed.

[HOW-TO] Return to stock rooted ICS US 9.2.1.21 from custom rom (One Stop Shop)

I decided to return to stock today so i could check out the newest ota which was not implemented in my fav rom yet. I soon realized its a pain in the ass to get there. Flash rom, update, update, etc, etc. And even worse is tracking down all the threads required for it.
Though I've narrowed it down to three or four, I thought i'd make a thread to put it all in one spot.
First off thanks to the members/devs that make these updates and roms for us. I dev on the HTC eVO 4g and know how time consuming and tedious it can be.
I am renaming and reuploading all the files required to ensure links stay current and are easy to follow. I will however be linking to all original threads where i got the files as well as giving props to the members who provided them.
I have a US version TF101 and will only be testing on that device. I dont know what works on tf101G, WW, TW models etc
I will update this thread as new rooted ota's come out.
ALL YOU NEED TO INSTALL IS A ALREADY ROOTED ASUS TRANSFORMER WITH A CUSTOM RECOVERY
THIS WILL NOT ROOT YOUR DEVICE, UN-ROOT YOUR DEVICE OR CHANGE YOUR CURRENT RECOVERY.
DONT FORGET TO BACK UP ALL YOURS APPS/DATA
FOR US VERSIONS ONLY
- STEP 1 - WIPE (DOWNLOAD) (This wipe zip was originally provided HERE by mike1986.
This script will erase and format your system and cache partition using EXT4 file-system ---Your external SD card and internal virtual SD card (/data/media) will remain untouched
- STEP 2 - FLASH STOCK ROOTED 9.2.1.11 FULL ROM AND REBOOT/SETUP (DOWNLOAD) originally provided here by MrNago
- STEP 3 - FLASH ROOTED OTA 9.2.1.17 AND REBOOT (DOWNLOAD) originally provided HERE by daoist

CANT FIND ROOTED VERSIONS OF THE NEXT FEW UPDATES THAT DONT REQUIRE ROOT KEEPER, SO IM STOPPING HERE. THIS WILL GET YOU STARTED THOUGH. i JUST DONT WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NEWBS THAT CANT READ LOSING ROOT.
FAQ
-Will this root my transformer = no
-Will I lose root if i flash this = NO
-Can i flash this on top of a custom rom = NO
-Will this replace the custom recovery with the stock recovery? = NO, this will not touch your current recovery
-OMG, I lost root after this = NO you didnt or you did something wrong.
Can you explain why step 2 and 3 are needed?
You couldn't go from 1 to 4 if you want 9.2.1.21?

its my understanding that you have to have the last prior ota installed to be able to install the next. The last update may not include everything from the others.
Will this replace the custom recovery with the stock recovery?

What model do you have? B50, B60, B70?
If you have a B50 or B60, try this
Once you get back to stock honeycomb, you'll have to root it again.
@baseballfanz : Guy, you have saved my tablet .. I had almost throwed it in the garbage
@ldc2335 : I have bought it in France, and no idea about the version, sorry .. (I don't have the dock)
Well, now, I willl see if it is stable or not :
- if it is, I need to find the way to root it (but I have read it's not possible with the last Rom, right ?)
- if not ... I will try to return to Honeycomb and sell this piece of sh*t, and I will buy the Galaxy S3 or will wait for the Note 2
Thx again !!!!
I use NVflash way and from modded(rooted/CWM/Overclock) 9.2.1.17 directly flash back to stock clean 9.2.1.17 and it's very quick... and root it agan via Vipermod and flash 9.2.1.21 update zip.. Takes about lest than 30mins..
Thats one way to do it. I just dont wanna re-root etc.
Flash, reboot, flash, reboot, flash, reboot..done Definitly 30 mins or less.

If you can return to honeycomb, then just reroot and then flash any rom you want. Whats the issue?
Simple, clear, straightforward directions - very nice. The file naming is clever also, no "now which file do I flash next?..."

Same here, its an assert issue, I remember dealing with it when flashing my epic touch and I believe that had to do with the version of CWM that it was being flashed from
can anyone confirm?

mates,
I need your help on installing JB with CW 6.0.0.7. I have a 9023 with ICS 404 stock, rooted, with busy box installed. I tried to instal the jb download from google site (9ZGgDXDi.zip) and I get the following error:

Installation aborted.
I had the same problem installing it via ota at the same point.
I tried to change also the CW installing the 5082 but nothing.
Someone can help me to install the JB on my nexus???

I restored a backup of my system where busybox was not installed and I got the same problem.
Could you be so kind to link here these three files. To be honest I'm not so expert fo find them alone.
thanks
I went to stock by doing this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29073020&postcount=1
I didn't flash the updates in the second part #1 but you could just flash instead. I logged everything in then did this to get the 4.1.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29067584&postcount=2817
Go into airplane with a strong wifi signal on for this to work.
I then rerooted (2nd part #2 on)
Hope this helps.

[Q] Updating to 4.1.1 OTA

I am trying to update my Nexus S i9020a (currently on stock 4.0.4) to stock Jelly Bean, but I'm running into some problems.
First, I got the notification that said there was an OTA update available for 4.1.1, so I started downloading it. After verification, it starting the countdown timer for restarting. When the counter reached 0, my phone did not update, but instead just told me that I was up to date.
I thought that was weird, so I used this thread to download the ota for manual installation. I rebooted into recovery and selected the update. I got the following:
Code:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_space(16570800)
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I didn't mind losing my data since I have everything backed up, so I went to this page to download the official images. I followed the instructions to flash the stock bootloader, recovery, and 4.0.4 ROM.
The same thing happened. I got the OTA notification, it downloaded and nothing happened. I tried manual install, but got the Status 7 error.
I then downloaded Google's official Gingerbread image and flashed that. I got a notification for the 4.0.4 update. It installed without any problem. Once that was done, I got another notification for the 4.1.1 update. It didn't work, though. The countdown started, but the phone did not reset and it said the phone was up to date. I tried the manual update again and got another Status 7.
Sorry if this is a bit long, but I wanted to say everything I have tried. I have looked through other threads and they mention using CWM, but I would rather not use a custom recovery. I prefer to stay on stock for now.

on any stock rom, at each boot it will overwrite the recovery
So I could use fastboot/adb to install the custom recovery, then install the zip from sd and the phone would be exactly the same as it would be if I were to receive the update notification directly and installed it that way? Should I wipe cache and dalvik in this scenario?
