[Q] Gingerbreak not rooting my LG Optimus P500!! Please help! - General Questions and Answers

I recently used the apk file developed by Mr. Chainfire to root My LG Optimus P500. Running version 2.2.1, V10c-DEC-08-2010.
At first, it didn't install correctly. I rebooted and installed again. This time, when I ran it, it says, and I quote, -
" Data is in an unexpected location!
Please report this in the XDA thread!

Somebody please help Me, as I'm unable to root My phone.

gingerbreak is for 2.2.2 (at least according to the link below)
try one of these other rooting methods:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
i recommend z4root

I tried z4root 1.1.0 as well as z4root 1.3.0. But to no avail. I also tried this SuperOneClick 1.95. Again, to no avail. What can I do? Please read the error message it gave Me. I have read it in some other thread that GingerBreak is supposed to work on My model and version number! Hence my agony!
Please help!

I had to download Z4Root from several different markets before I found one that would root my lg optimus t.... 4shared.com has many different versions. just keep trying

i don't think so ask the developer
Hi, my LG-C555 is unlocked & rooted and currently runs Android 2.2. I wanted/needed to change the internal firmware so I tried Gingerbreak (1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) but none of them seems to work.
I was able of pushing gingerbreak.apk (version 0, 1 and 2) to the /data/app folder with the USB debugging mode ON and I also have inserted a formated/mounted SD card in the phone.
Then I installed it normally, the installation started but never ended, it stayed in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... I had to reboot.
How did you manage to install it properly on yours?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty
Hi all,
The Gingerbreak installation starts on my rooted-network-unlocked LG-C550 but it never ends, it stays in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... it finally needed a reboot and unfortunately nothing has changed with the firmware version, it's still Android version 2.2, what could be the problem?
Also, could someone tell me how can I force a flash of the same default "firmware" into it?
I suspect a problem with the installed firmware so that's why I wanted to try Gingerbreak to see if my problem would go away...
Your help is much appreciated!
Regards,
highmighty
@highmighty
It looks like the exploit, which Gingerbreak uses is fixed, you can try to use the Stock-ROM of your phone. There are many other ways out there to root phones. I got my Huawei Boulder rooted with superoneclick, maybe that will do it for you too. If you find a solution please post it here for others.
Best regards

Hi, just a question here. My sister gave me a C550 or C555.
Does the root unlock simlock at the same time, like others devices, or not?

While I patiently await CM7 for the Triumph, can anyone tell me how to get this thing rooted? I've owned a G1, Eris, and Optimus V. Each one had a different process. How can I do it on this one?

There is an app you install called GingerBreak. It is found in the same forum you posted this question in, just look for it, I believe it is right under this thread, actually. It is a simple 1-Click root method.
Hope I helped. If I did, could you help a brother out by clicking the thanks button? It's all I got
Here is a link to the aforementioned GingerBreak: http://www.4shared.com/file/kJ-skGa5/Gingerbread_15.html
After rooting, go to the market and install superuser.
Damn, I thought that was for a custom ROM. Thank you! I'll give proper thanks when I get to my Chromebook.
Well, that was quick. All rooted now. However, you linked something that only put on wallpapers. I had to go find 1.2 of GingerBreak.
Hello, i've tried Gingerbreak, Z4, Universal Androot and SuperOneClick Server is down.
Does anyone know of any other methods to root an android??

There's an "easy root method" that involves renaming the sudo binary in your phone to su... If you do this, it's strongly recommended you install Superuser when you're done.

My ROM (hurrhurr) comes with root already available.

i just realized you have gingerbread. now that brings you down to two options:
1. try using gingerbreak again (i believe this is the only rooting method for gingerbread but i may be wrong. if that doesnt work then try...
2. downgrading back to froyo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038338
heres a list of the stock firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881
(keep in mind that step 2 can result in your phone bricking if you do not follow the instructions carefully or an unexplainable accident occurs)

[q] need help with superoneclick please!!!!!

Hi, I have posted a thread like this a while ago and it has not been resolved so i need to start it again. I have a Motorola Spice (XT300) from mobilicity and i had it rooted and then it broke so they sent me a brand new one. The problem is that when I went back to root it, superoneclick keeps "Not Responding" in windows. I did the root on this same computer and it worked the first time and now this keeps coming up and I have all of the sufficient Drivers installed and I have tried this on 3 DIFFERENT COMPUTERS!!!! I have usb debugging on and z4root does not work at all so I am assuming that it is a software bug. I have tried different versions too and they all crash but the only version that works for this specific phone is 1.7 so PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The phone is basically unusable without flashback (Bloatware) uninstalled so if here are any alternatives to this software or if someone can help me, it is very mutch appreciated
Thanks in advance
~BEMEROX
did u tried flash tool?
I haven't tried that but will it work because I am not rooted and I need help with superoneclick
