Hello, I need help I am a newbie to Android, I switched from Iphone4, any way, I installed a new mod in to my Htc Inspire everything seems to be working just fine, But i notice that my H+ icon was replace with just an H, I any body can help me with this matter I will be grateful,
What are you using? Most ROMs don't have the plus. It's really just a trivial thing AT&T puts there to make you think you have a better connection, just because it doesn't have the + doesn't mean you aren't getting full HSDPA&HSUPA speeds.

Yea when I first had this happen to me.. I was like o **** lol.. now I have notice its back and forth 3g to h+ I got that speed test app and happen to test out when it was on 3g and then H+ H+ has some better connection but not to the point where its to get upset about lol..im talking about like 3g was 1.5 (ie) H+ 1.8(ie)
But if you have this issue you could reboot your phone and it should just reappear H+, but it depends where you are.

unless the ROM you are on doesnt have the H+ icon activated. it is an icon, nothing more, its indicative of nothing. it could say 3G and you would have the same speed as your magical H+..... there is so much confusion spread around here on h/h+/3g...its ridiculous. people freak out thinking their 'H+' is gone because its only displaying 'H' on the rom.....a quick speed test would show that you havent lost anything.
yea that is true..

Is there anyway we can get the HSDPA "H" to be shown of ROM's other than Cyanogen? I would love to have this on my MCR R21
Im sure by now it would have been sussed out how to do it, and transfered from Cyanogen's ROM.
Its very important for us guys in the UK, because we have three streams of services, GPRS, 3G, and HSDPA. And its frustrating not being able to distinguish from 3G and HSDPA because its all recorded as 3G.
Any help is welcomed

Thanks Icegad,
The only problem is that it still isnt distinguishing the three different networks we have in the uk.
We have GPRS, 3G, and HSDPA))
So i need something that isnt just gonna change the 3G to H, but to have three changes that distinguish from eachother))
I Tweeted Paul earlier and he is gonna try and implement for the next MCR

I'd love this to be implemented in some way, I hope someone figures it out soon
I would really love it if someone could make a .zip for the 6 signal bars that come in the FrankenRom and make it work with Skyraider 2.2, I would like to be able to still use the smooth sense icons and the location hide .zips. I have posted this request in a few threads but no one has stepped up and made it work, I would do it if I knew how. Thanks in advance and anyone else that would like this mod/theme please post in here so that we can get the attention of someone capable of doing it.
i would like that too... bc my fraken thems lose the signal bars haha and i dont know what to do
Can't, Verizon/cdma use four bars...that would call for some heavy coding!

Really? Isn't Sprint cdma also and the evo has 6 bars. And how did Adrynalyne make it work in his evo theme then?

Your best bet is to pm him.
all it is is the images and xml file or service.jar that make the 6 bars but i dont know how to edit those so i need someone else to
Bump, still no luck with this or no one cares but me lol?
You should have taken the advice to PM me. This is not my primary forum, by any means.
I made it happen because my Frankenrom is all Evo framework, mostly Evo apps, and the rest Incredible drivers and kernel.
Can it be done without that extreme? Probably.
Try taking the services.jar from the latest Evo Froyo release and try putting it on your phone. If you are unfamiliar with this process, and the process of making a nandroid backup, then you are best off leaving it alone. Or trying my frankenrom.
Thanks Jdk, that would be awesome. And Adrynalyne thanks for the response, sorry just forgot to PM you about it. I am not familiar with ADB, I had a buddy root my phone originally, but I am familiar with Rom Manager and making nandroid backups. I was using your Frankenrom for awhile but I did not like that I couldn't use the smooth sense icons or the location hide zips with it, it would change the framework of the signal bars back to the 4 bars. So i switched to SkyRaider when he released the 2.2 version. I just figured it wouldn't be very difficult to put a .zip together of the signal bars for anyone to use with any 2.2 rom. I had no idea it was such a p.i.t.a. I would not feel comfortable removing something from one rom/release and moving it to another, I'm sure i would screw something up lol. But thanks for the quick responses guys and if anyone has any luck getting this into a .zip for all of us to enjoy please post here, thanks again.
It can be dont quit easily. all that has to be done it using the 6 bars in place of the 4 with the 4 images still. they wont represent correctly but it wont be any worse than what they do now..
EVO bars
I made a quick file for you to use on SkyRaider 2.2

did not work, skyraider 2.2 with the smooth sense icons and hide location zip, did not change the signal bars. Thanks for trying through
Enjoy.
Please note that first boot could take up to 10 minutes.
Make a nandroid backup, just in case.
A wipe would be recommended for stability reasons, but may not be needed.
Please don't ask me for support, because this is a crappy hack, at best.

Did you post a link for the bars cause I don't see a link? Thanks Adrynalyne
Wow, epic forum fail. I attached it to the post, and it didn't show.
Sorry about that.
Thanks adrynalyne, it worked changing the signal bars to 6, but it also removed the hide location zip and gave me the hearing aid icon instead if the battery icon. Again I have the smooth sense icons and the hide location zips installed, so I guess the evo signal bars and the these other zips are just incompatible, bummer. Thanks for trying Adynalyne.

Thinkin bout makin the switch.. been N1 since day one.. ROM devs are excellent.. i love rooting.. blah blah blah.. anyways..
Been thinkin bout a couple things thus far that has really toggled me..
BTW- i have T-Mobile..
1. i heard that 4g is not availible for the Nexus S on T-Mo's network
2. is it really THAT good of an upgrade..?? the only think i can think of that really stands out is the front camera.. its faster than the n1 right?
3. is rooting complicated?
4. does google put out OTA's for the Nexus S like it did for the n1 (im rooted so ota's dont really mean anything) lol
5. Opinion- will there be another nexus coming out?
6. sorry, last one lol.. i really dont like the notification bar.. (all the green) its small and too plain.. (maybe im jus used to my MIUI rom, launcher pro plus.. etc..)
well that is all.. thanks guys

1. 4G is available from TMO however the NS does not support it like the G2 or mytouch4g. Theoretical max for the NS is 7.2mb
2. The NS in my opinion is definitely a worthy upgrade. I was a N1 owner from day 1 and the big issues I had have all been fixed with the NS. True multitouch support, proper screen response and an excellent gpu.
3. Rooting is very easy
4. Yes google has already released 2 updates for the NS in the first month
5.My guess is we'll see another Nexus next year
6. I have no issues with the modification bar. There are plenty of themes to help you with that

1) The Nexus S does not support HSPA+ however, it can receive HSPA which is faster than 3g. Also, as with all phones that support any of the HSPA architecture it benefits from the increased network speeds.
2) Absolutely. I never owned a Nexus One (though I coveted it greatly) the multi touch, screen, and upgraded graphics processing are well worth the upgrade.
3) Rooting is as simple as typing into ADB fastboot_oem_unlock.
4) Yes.
5) Absolutely, there have even been speculations and rumors about development, none have been substantiated.
6) It is quite easy to modify or hide the status bar through themes or settings.

Just as a corrective point, the G2 can do HSPA+ but not HSPDA and does not have quite the download speeds of the MT4G, or so I've been told by owners (specifically, ShabbyPenguin).

While I've heard it mentioned, in my case the statement is false. Wifi is equal if not better than my N1 was.

If you don't already know, HTC programmed their Gingerbread ROMs to drop wifi connections if the signal falls below -88dBm. I'm not sure why they did that because -88dBm is a perfectly usable signal. With this fix, your wifi connection won't drop until the signal falls below -108dBm.
Select the correct version for your ROM and flash through Clockwork Recovery.
If you appreciate my work, donations of any amount are very much appreciated.

I noticed it immediately when I first flashed a Gingerbread Sense ROM a few weeks ago. My router is in my basement so wifi was practically unusable in some areas of my house. I spent a whole day researching, looking through code, and trying everything under the sun (including changing settings on my router lol) just to get this fixed. I've actually had the fix for a couple weeks now but just recently realized that all Gingerbread Sense ROMs have the issue.

I'm pretty sure that if the data works with no wifi, the signal is not the problem, just the way that the Rom is displaying it

yeah, it's because it's a port from the AT&T skyrocket. some of the things don't work exactly right on the T-mo version, such as the display bars showing up, even though you still get signal.
This is common on all skyrocket roms ported to the T989
either way, it bugs me enough that I don't use ported skyrocket roms on my T989. plus, I need wifi calling, so only t-mo based roms for me
