Does this phone have arabic support in the browser and apps. And if it doesn't is there a way to add it?
anyone??? this is big deal breaker for me
Bump........
This phone is only in English. There is not even a Spanish option. Just wait for root and cyanogenmod. Apps though can use any font so you can type in whatever language you want and view text in anything you want as well as long as there are fonts for it.
there is a spanish setting in the keyboard section i think. i don't want the whole phone in arabic. i just need to read it in apps and the internet. they show as disconnected letters on the phone

In contacts on the right, there is a shortcut image with the ABC and by touching it, it shows you the letter you touch in big size right in the middle of the screen, and when you release it - you have the name who's started with that letter.
How can I customize it? I want to change the ABC to Hebrew letters.
I know i'll need to make an Image with the Hebrew ABC... but where I can change the fonts thing?
Thanks!
Avi
I suggest you download htc's "random access" and edit it..

I edited the file(s):
RandomAccess.dll
RandomAccessChooser.dll
with HEX editor, and it's show me the right Fonts in the files.
But when I was replacing my files with the ROM files, it's shows me strange fonts instead the normal Hebrew ABC...
I'm sure it's a problem with the fonts and not with the files itself because on my computer it's shows the rights letters.
How can i fix it? how can i send the files to the right Hebrew fonts? I'm using the Free Hebrew method
are you using the hebrew version of the arabizer we were working on in the Polaris section?
this has nothing to do with the current language support you have on your device.
fonts show on a device regardless of what the primary language used on the device is.
If hebrew fonts on your version of random access are chosen, and you have the same fonts in your device, you should be able to see hebrew.
the only problem i can think of that would make your device not show hebrew in random access is that the program defines the default fonts from inside the app itself.
that is, it has a specific font embedded into it, and that's what it shows.
if it reads a font from the operating system.. it should show fine.

I believe it's the second thing you said because I didn't found any other problem with Hebrew font's on my device.
Yes, i'm using the free Hebrew you worked on
So, do you have any Idea how to find the specific place inside the whole HEX thing that touching the fonts issue?
It's strange - I Can see Heb fonts in Contacts and even search contacts by using the Resco Keyboard with the Hebrew support, so i'm not sure it's the Contacts app fault.
Thanks for helping me, waiting for your answer
thnks
i used that information too thnks
unfortunately, embedded info is something which is hard to find for someone like me who's a megajunior developer.
in flash, for instance, you can see it directly in the Flash App itself... as embedded chars are defined manually.
i don't know how to look for embedded chars in other apps..
Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if its possible to add locales as an app without rooting the phone.
If so, is there anyone capable of doing that with arabic?
If not, does anyone have an idea if there will be an update that adds arabic so that i can read and write it?
Before froyo arabic was just the squares that pop up when it doesnt know the language.
With froyo, arabic can be seen but its letter for letter, in real script in arabic the letters are connected so its kind of awkward reading something like that letter for letter.
So please anyone with an idea, let me know what can be done or what will be done if you know of anything
yaa you can download this app from the market Morelocale 2 you can choose whatever locale you want buttttt that doesnt mean your device will support arabic you will have to root the couse if you add the locale the arabic letters will show like SQUARE LETTERS
you need arabic fonts and that doesnt happend without root unless if your device support arabic already
lemme know what happens
I've installed new swype for windows mobile, I change in settings language on another, but still swype recognize and put only english words. it dosen't metter even with language I will choose from the list. all the time it puts only english words.
Something I missed?
I bought the Nexus S in the US for a friend in Poland as it would ultimately be cheaper. I noticed that the Polish language is not present in the language selection menu which is odd considering that it is present in the 2.3 SDK.
I can change the phone's locale using MoreLocale2, but system menus and other text are still in English -- the language pack itself is missing.
Is there anything that could be done to add the Polish language pack? Does the Nexus S even come with Polish in Europe?
So far from the searching I've done, it seems that there's no way to go about doing this unless I make my own ROM with the language pack included. That's unfortunate, really. I'll probably have to return the phone, then.
I also looking for this...
Hi,
I use embryo 6.6 and its just fine rom.
The only problem is it doesnt have hebrew (not in the keyboard also)
And when I'm trying to install a hebrew keyboard from playstore, the sms text I send is question marks and not letters.
The very intresting thing is that most of jelly bean roms includ hebrew build-in( and alot of other language ) But I have very bad call quality with them.
I have to stay with embryo 6.6 because of the good call quality, stock is also fine but have the same problem with hebrew..
Maby I can take lang pack from one rom and put it on mine rom?
Thank you
There was a stock JB Google keyboard in the apps and themes section in which you can add languages...I use that and added Arabic to it and it works fine beside English...
Let me know if you find it, or I upload it to you...
Edit: Why don't you also try to add Hebrew in the new Swype from languages list ?
Oh..for the sms issue, go to messages settings and choose auto in input mode....
You're searching for answers to the wrong problem.
No matter what keyboard or ROM you're using, go to SMS settings and switch "Encoding" from "Automatic" or whatever it is on to "Unicode". That will solve your Hebrew turning to question marks issue.
And now you can use any Samsung ROM and any keyboard. Enjoy.
