I have a rooted x2 (via gingerbreak). I want to unroot and restore my phone to its original factory settings (as if I just bought the phone). Please, whether anyone agrees with doing this or not, please tell me how I can do this.

Hallo everyone!
I am new to this board and i have a few questions.
I recently bought a Samsung i5800 with android 2.1. Unfortunately i have problems with the pin requesting (i read in forum, that this is a known issue, my provider seems to use a modified firmware, that causes the problems).
So i want to update my mobile because people in forums say, that this is fixed by updating to samsung original 2.1 or 2.2
However I read, that I should make a backup, before I do so.
So please can you give me instructions how I should start(with links)?
And do I need to root my phone? to do upgrading or to install an official firmware?
And how do I unlock my mobile for all sim cards?(In my Country Austria it's absolutely legal to unlock the sim card).
And shall i first root it and then upgrade or upgrade and root it?
And how do i do a backup without rooting?(I want to have this current system as backup, for warranty issues).
If possible, i want to do an upgrade without rooting.
Thanks for the answeres.

I read this, but i dont know where to start ...
shall i root it first?(do I need to?) or shall i upgrade it first?
and there is no instruction for backups...
ok
I began with downloadin odin a.s.o
now i just noticed, that the download mode (vol- + home+ power when you turn the mobile off) is not working...
I bought my mobile 2 weeks ago from telering.
Is there a way to enable this download mode?(maybe as root?)
ok
now i rootet it, however i have the problem, that i cannot back it up
i tried clockwork recovery... with rom manager
I go to recover system, then it reboots and then i come to the recovery menu but there is no option for recovery...
is there any other way to recover a samsung galaxy 3 i5800?
Hello guys, I post here because I don't have access to dev forum.
The case is that I have Nexus S 2.3.4 GRJ22, and I have some questions:
1) Can I root the nexus s so in the future I can unroot it like factory (for example to sell it to another person, or if I need warranty) and nobody knows it was rooted sometime?
2) Can I install [ROM] Nexbreed S12 (5/4/12) (AOSP/GRJ22) without unprotecting bootloader, to preserve warranty?
3) Is the data preserved when installing the custom ROM or enabling bootloader?

your answers are in nexus s development forum.. for to read you mustn´t stay registered
1-you can root and unroot your device when you want, mate.
2-ask this in the Q&A of nexus s paragraph
3.- for preserve de data use titanium backup apk (download form market) and google sync (automatically) stores your phone numbers... calls of the dialer, and downloaded apks of your previous rom, after installing new rom automatically restores it.. but the rest you must to restore it manually with titanium backup.
cheers and sorry for my poor english
Hi,
Can someone confirm if I root my S3 Clone Bluebo L100 with 'Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v15', it will keep the phone as it was before the root but make it rooted, or will it restore the phone back to it's original factory setup.
I read somewhere that if you root your phone it will lose it's settings and you will lose it's IMEI number and I may not be able to use the phone. I'm not convinced but wanted to seek some support that all I will do if it works is to make the phoned rooted.
Thanks
Lee
Not sure if a generic method will work to root your phone, but if works you wont lose any configuration or IMEI.

I rooted it yesteday with 'Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17', it works.
During procedure the cell will ask you to restore default data but don't worry, Only wallpaper will be changed.
Good job
Hello, I have a Verizon SM-P905V that I rooted and I'm now wondering about going back to stock in order to upgrade software.
When I rooted my tablet, I used an app called "Uninstall" to uninstall SDM and Knox and all the other bloatware rather than Titanium Backup and now I cannot restore these (lesson learned!) and if I try going to the "Software Update" tab in my settings it just crashes.
So my question is: If I do a data factory reset will these apps be restored? I don't care if it unroots my device. I'd prefer it be unrooted since I'll probably trade it in here in a couple months.
If it doesn't root however, does anyone know the process for unrooting this device and can link me to the method they used?
Thank you!

Hi
Need to encrypt 5.1.1 phone- though rooted.
Can I use the temporary unroot (disabling superuser) in SuperSU??
(I have heard I may need to reroot through custom recovery-but my phone model has no known custom recovery).
Anyone use this method, or know someone, or try to figure it out? Thank you...
