Radio s off procedure - HTC Sensation

I have S off for boot
Does that mean I have s off for the radio
If not what is the procedure to get s off for the radio and flash a new radio
I want to flash the revolution rom, but see it is recommended that flash a new radio first
Thanks much for any guidance

I'm curious about this too.

Yeah, I'm wondering about this too...dunno if even upgrading helps much, see the android rev rom thread..

i just reflashed the radio via directions in the zip folder. worked fine and also installed revolution HD afterwards. Ended up reverting to a backup though as it was too buggy for me at this point.

Yeah it worked fine, except did you check the fastboot menu to see if it actually changed the radio? Mine didn't.

ahh no i didnt. i spent like 5 minutes messing with it and then restored a backup.
edit: i still shows i have the radio which i flashed so it did work.

If your having slow data speeds on AOSP Builds...

If anyone is having slow data speeds for the AOSP builds, CM7, or the like, I flashed the recommended radio and BAM my speeds are back to 4.5 down and 1.5 up. This might be common knowledge and if so just delete the thread, but I was having consistently good data speeds on every sense rom even without the recommended radio, and for some reason when I flashed adamholden's ROM with the stock radio was getting as low as .2 down and .8 up, and after a helpful suggestion to flash the radio through HBOOT (just putting the PD98IMG file on my sd and booting into the bootloader and letting it do its thing) which was way easier in my opinion than all the eng s-off stuff, not to mention safer, my speeds are back up to the normal 4.5 down and 1.5 up. Hope this helps, because I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out all this new radio stuff (came from the captivate).

I see in your sig you've got TPGB's AOSP ROM, so you must be referring to radio version 26.06.06.30. This is the new stock radio that HTC pushed out a couple of weeks ago to the stock Inspires. This has been a great radio for me as well.

Yes. In my market, most custom ROMs run slow without the APN fix.
I think this ROM already has the fix implemented (I'm back on CM7).

[Q] Service problems with the HTC Inspire

Since last night (maybe even the night before) I've been experiencing service problems with my HTC Inspire. It'll recognize I have a SIM card at times, and then It wont. I rooted my phone following this thread (specifically this video) I've had my phone rooted for briefly a week and after I finished that video, I left it at that and didn't follow the next video on how to flash a custom Rom. Any ideas on why this problem is occurring?

The downgrade rom is an older Desire HD rom that is used for the purpose of rooting. It really doesn't play nice if you leave it on the phone. You need to flash attn1's updated stock rom and radio from the developers forum if you want to stay stock rooted. Otherwise, just flash a custom rom and matching radio.

Well apparently he used bubby's simple root, which if he at least followed that through to completion, meaning the stock rooted ROM got pushed to the phone, then he shouldn't be on the downgraded ROM.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what rom the one click leaves you with, but the hack kit left me with a pos Desire HD rom that obviously didn't belong on the phone. I had to go somewheres between the time I rooted and flashed my current stock rom, so I got to play with it a bit. Mms didn't work, it wouldn't allow me to setup email, and, despite connecting to wifi, it wouldn't open web pages. Mobile internet did work, but the speeds were horrid. After booting it took forever to get a signal. Idk if this was the downgrade rom used to get root or a different rom flashed afterwards, but to me it was still a downgraded rom regardless. Once I flashed attn1's stock rom, it was all fixed.

The Rom installed at the end of Bubby's method is very usable. It seems like a stock Rom. I didn't notice anything missing, but I didn't use it that long.

Lol.
That ROM was never intended to be left on the phone. It shouldn't have been some mystery needing to be solved, as from what I recall, it pretty clearly tells you that a new ROM needs to be flashed to restore the Inspire to a fully functional state.

Yes, I do recall it saying something along that line. I just didn't expect it to be that non functional. I was hoping to use it for a few days until I made a final decision on what rom to flash. Fortunately, I came across attn1's rom later that day. I do recall when researching Bubby's one click method, it stated it would take you back to stock. I just wasn't sure if it was meaning stock Inspire or stock Desire HD.

ROM issue

I tried installing BAMF 3.0 RC2 on my phone, and I can't seem to get it working properly. Upon startup it force closes a bunch of things and the radio shows no signal at all. I have ran the MD5 on the download to ensure integrity. Also did a complete wipe prior to flashing. Could this be a radio problem? I haven't done any radio upgrades.

when you say everything is the same, do you mean it still has the previous radio version number?
I'd suggest that you both:
1) Wipe data/dalvik/cache and flash back to a froyo ROM where you do have a signal
2) Upgrade from froyo to the MR2/2.5 radio
3) Re-wipe data/dalvik/cache (or even do it twice for good luck ) and re-flash BAMF 3.0
If its worth doing, its worth overdoing, especially when you're messing with radios and the like. Best of luck!
That's the same problem I first had with gingeritis before flashing the correct radio.. if you are still experiencing the problems after the radio flash i would suggest confirming the radio did install by checking the version number..
if it is all correct do as MattBeyers said and wipe and reflash
Thanks, that seemed to work. I still got a couple of force closes but much less than before. Also I can see my radio now! If I wanted to restore my old my Backup (Stock Froyo - MR1), do I restore my backup then flash MR1? If so, does anyone have a link the MR1 image? TIA!
I'm always one to upgrade/downgrade radios before I flash a ROM, so I would say to downgrade to MR1 and then flash the Froyo backup. Also, try going into ROM manager and using the Fix Permissions tool to see if that helps with some of the force closes.

I just feel like the radio, being the thing that, well, controls every useful function on the phone, should be installed and present when a new ROM is flashed. I may be wrong, but it would seem logical to me that a new ROM would talk to the radio in order to make sure everything is kosher. But what if that's something that a ROM will only do once, at the first boot, and not once a new radio is flashed? Then, all of a sudden, you have the right radio, but its configured improperly by your ROM, since the ROM has already gone through its initial boot set up with the old radio. Therefore, my theory is radio > ROM (Please note, theory. )

This makes sense from a logical reason. Perhaps a ROM developer on this site can confirm this.

Random reboot nomatter what i do ??

Hi sensation forum...
I am new to sensation, but not new to android or HTC, as i have 4 different phones with custom firmware on them...
But the sensation give me a lot of problems for some reason...
I have tried ARHD 5.0.2 and Insert Coin 4.0.4, i have also tried Virtuous Inquisition v1.3.0 and HyperSensation CM7.1 v1.2.
The last one is not even ICS based...
All of them give me random reboot cycles...
I have tried 3 different radios also...
Nothing have helped me so far...
I still have a lot of random reboots...
(about every 2-10 min)
When i flash the firmware i use ARHD´s super delete script, but to be shure, i also format everything from within Recovery...
What more can i do here ??
Pleace,if your phone is stable, can you tell me exactly what rom/radio/kernal/ril you use...
My phone was rock stable with factory firmware....
Hey,
When installing roms on the sensation, make sure you follow the guides in the particular thread. It is also important to match recommended radios and rils that go with the specific rom. Make sure you are S-off and cid 11111111. When you are switching roms, you should only have to run the superwipe script, it will set all the partitions for you so that you can flash the rom you choose. Also, before you install ICS, it is recommended that you superwipe BEFORE installing the actual rom to prevent unwanted isssues. Before you do anything else, give me a rundown on what you are currently running.

I have exactly this issue.
I installed ICS Revolution. I had successfully got S-OFF, Installed ClockWork Recovery (updated to latest version), permanently Rooted & obtained SuperCID. I updated radio as recommnded by mike1986 in the ICS post, and wiped the phone with Revolution Super_wipe_Sensation first.
It seemed to run fine apart from Doplhin HD which refused to run properly (so switched to Opera Mobile). However I started to get random reboots.
After a bit I thought to try Insert Coin ICS instead.
I have noticed no real difference in performance and have the identical issue with Dophin HD (back to Opera mobile again).
However I also still have the identical random rebooting issue with this ROM. What else can I do?

I'm having the same issue. Did a text book install of AHRD. Everything went super smoothly, but getting these reboots. I have tried to swipe everything, have the latest radio and recommended fw and keep getting these crashes. Not only it's driving me nuts but it makes the phone unuseable... I can't believe we're just 2 to have these problems... Isn't there some king of log we can pull to see what's causing the crash ?

sorry for the late reply, been busy with holiday stuff.. anyhow, make sure you are NOT installing any mods that are not compatible with the current ICS build. I have had no problems switching between ARHD 3.6.10 and ICS 5.0.2. As long as you have s-off and CID 1111111, you should be good to go. When I changed up from 3.6.10 to ICS 5.0.2, I turned off my phone, went into bootloader, selected the option for recovery, then flashed the superwipe script. After it finished flashing that, it rebooted back into recovery. Following that, I went to install from zip, flashed the updated RUU, cleared cache and dalvik, then flashed ICS 5.0.1 and the 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 update. Everything installed smooth from there.

I also don't think it's related to CPU speed. My phone is the XE model which ran at 1.5 Ghz on stock ROM and only did about 3 random reboots in 3 months; (now it's every couple of hours).

I'm still getting the reboot on the nand backup (OrangeFR), this sucks big time. Now I'm thinking it may be due to the fw I had to install to use AHRD (PG58IMG) and the new radio. This is where I'm lost. How can I return everything to standard ? If I understand well the ROM doesn't contain those files, they are separate ?
Was thinking that my random reboots were radio or firmware related.
Strange thing is mine have stopped, and all I did was reinstall revolution ICS 5.0.1 then upgrade to 5.0.2. Didn't even wipe first. So even my apps & settings all of which I had installed & configured since I had installed Insert Coin ICS, are all still there. Haven't had a reboot since.

I switched back to ARHD 3.6.9, did a factory reset+wipe, flashed radio 10.59 and all is fine, I'm somehow reluctant to try again...
I found a solution that worked for me... At last...
I am REALLY sorry that i didn´t answer here before, but i have been really bussy, and actually forgot all about it a few days....
NOW, i also thought that i had some CPU spped issue with the roms, becource i can actually get the same kind of reboot problems on my DHD when i run it over 1500 Mhz...
So i thought that i would lock my sensation to max 900 mhz, and then see what happens... NO change... Still random reboot... Strange...
I then installed a Android 2.3 rom, just to get my phone running again... STILL random reboots...
hmmm....
Now i was confused...
At last i tried to flash a different radio one more time...
I found a radio in some other sensation thread... Flashed it and now my phone works stable...
At least with Virtuos Inquisition 1.3.0... (Proberbly the 1.4.0 will also work, but i have not tried it yet...)
The Radio i had the problems with is the one from mike´s thread...
I actually don´t know why, as i have allways had great success with his roms and his releases on my DHD...
The Radio i use now is 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035-02_2...
But sorry, i can´t remember from what thread...
Ok, this is what i have discovered on this reboot issue...
I hope it make some sense, and that this perhaps can help other with the same problems...
Try turning your phone to recovery.Backup if you havent already....Wipe Data/Factory reset then turn the phone off....
Remove the back cover and the SDCARD.Turn the phone back on and see if it runs ok without the SDCARD, if it does reformat the sd using 4ext recovery and it will also align it.
I spoke too soon.
My phone didn't reboot for a day after I switched back to Revolution ICS 5.0.2 for about a day, then today it began doing random reboots every few minutes. I had not changed any software, just the area (which might have changed signal and frequency the cell tower uses). So I figured it was time to change firmware and radio.
I had previously (prior to installing custom ICS ROM) flashed the radio to 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 as recommended by Mike1986 in the Revolution HD ICS thread, and had HBoot 1.7.1111 on my device.
I then downloaded the firmware he posted on his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
This has put the phone back to HBOOT 1.20.0000 and radio 11.15.3504.16_M
Now it's working well and no reboots yet.
Here's hoping.. time will tell.
No matter what radio or Rom combo I get random ass reboots

My question is, if possible, how i can fix the wifi, camera app, and bluetooth, it says error when i try connecting bluetooth and wifi, camera app is just blank black. anyway to solve this, any type of feedback is welcome. just dont go too harsh on me im new to this and want my problems fixed.
Well, you could try reflashing the rom. Download Mike's Super Wipe from the ARHD thread and super wipe before installing the rom. Then install, and you should be set. I'm on ARHD 6.3.0 and everything works fine.
Yea tried that a while ago and nothing happened, everything stayed the same

You might need to install the right firmware package (different from the rom). Find the newest version from the link in the ARHD thread (i think 3.30) and install it. Also try reflashing the rom (don't forget to suprwipe) and if you use Titanium backup make sure to not restore system data, as it will cause problems when transferred among different roms.

You could try using an RUU to restore everything back to stock before reflashing. Also, use recovery to wipe (format) the partitions to ensure nothing is left when flashing. If everything works after running the RUU, then try reflashing (double check the guides to make sure you followed all the steps).
Don't forget to check all md5 checksums after downloading files, as occasionally they download incorrectly.

ok, im not gonna lie, even though im new to all this, im a little precautious of what im going to do to my phone.. so can you please post some steps on how you are suggesting i should try fixing it, i dont want to do things all out of order and end up bricking my phone. it would really help if you would post some steps on how to do this so, i aoppreciate it alot.
If you want to go the route of restoring to stock (which I recommend), first you'll need to download an RUU from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
Find the one that matches the carrier/region of your phone. If you are unsure, post your CID and I can help you choose the right one. You can find your CID by searching the CID checker app in the market.
Don't forget to make a backup in recovery and backup any important data from your phone. The RUU completely resets and clears all data from your phone (excluding SD card).
Once it is downloaded, simply run the exe, plug your phone into the computer, and follow the instructions it gives you (all you have to do now is press next several times).
After this your phone will be completely reverted to stock. If you still have problems (very unlikely) then you need to send it in for warranty as it is most likely a hardware problem. If everything works, you can either stay on stock or reflash whichever ROM you want.
If you have any questions about the process, please post them and I'll post more detailed instructions.

i downloaded it, now i just open it on the computer while my phones connected, right? Had a security check on it and it may harm the computer, is it safe to open it up on the computer?
i just opened it, got thru to the update, then it gave me an error, says update cannot be applied, does not compute with my phone, update rom is too large, please downlaod correct rom and try again.
