My phone is randomly sending text messages to people. Usually it is a duplicate of a text I sent to them a day or so prior. Now today it sent a message that I never even typed.
I've seen some random dscussion about this but no solutions.
I'm running cm7, but this issue has happened on other ROMs as well.
Any ideas?

Well since CM7 is still in alpha testing, that was my first guess.
If its happening on other ROMs, then its probably a network issue.
This has never happened to me but I do sometimes receive duplicate texts from people on Verizon. This has been confirmed to be a network issue.

Hey, ive noticed that the default messaging app is pretty slow to load or send messages. I even tried handcent and got the same issue. It's like a 2-3 second lag when opening the app or selecting a specific message. Does anyone else have the same issue? Wasn't this bad on my nexus :/

I use handcent and its almost instant when I send or load messages. I don't like the stock message app so I never really tried with that one.
Do you have a specific setting to make it faster??

I use Go sms. It is free and pretty fast. The delay could also be happening if you have a lot of messages though. That would slow down any sms app.

The HTC messaging app had been criticized for having this slow issue before, so nothing new. Just use handcent or similar.
Handcent is instantaneous with send/receive, plus pop up text, can't go wrong.

ah i didnt want to start a new thread but ill throw my question here so im sorry but has anyone noticed keyboard lag when plugged in? i use the charger that came with the phone but sometimes i experience lag where ill be typing and the keyboard freezes and i literally have to wait for the phone to slowly type out what i wrote. what could be the problem?

I've had this issue. Actually i've had issues where the entire device gets so slow i have to reboot. This hasn't happened since i changed kernels. I use smartkeyboard pro too, so i reduced the length of time of the haptic feedback and that helped too.
That's why I use go sms.

After I received the MR2 update my Tbolt texts the wrong person about 1 out of every 12 times. Not like the old problem where it pics the wrong thread, like every HTC phone I have ever had. You clearly see you have the correct thread and when you hit send it looks like it flips a page on the screen and sends it to who ever the phone feels like. This is embarrassing and quite unacceptable. I am stock and I have tried deleting all the texts and I hard reset once and it still does it. What gives?
Lol. I know what u mean..it has happen to me a few times and has almost got me in a lil bit of trouble if you know what I mean..it is very annoying..I'm rooted so instead of using the HTC messaging app I deleted it and installed the vanilla android (aosp) messaging on my phone..runs better with less lag, doesn't put mms as a slideshow, and best of all no wrong text sent. I have yet to figure out a solution to the problem tho unless you wanna use handcent or a another app similar.

Like above, I'd recommend a replacement app. I personally use GO sms and I havn't had it send a wrong message unless I didn't see to the person whom I was typing to.(which happened once lol) Maybe that is the best method other than rooting
I had the same problem and I couldn't control who the messages would go to, I'm using handcent and haven't had a single issue since. I go back to stock and it happens again. I don't think it's just the Thunderbolt as I've seen threads on forums for other phones that have had the same issue.
This is a bug, it was fixed in GB.

Yup and if I recall correctly, multiple manufacturers were effected.

I disagree. Perhaps the particular bug you linked in that message has been fixed with GB, but I have seen text message bugs using Sense 3.0.
The most common occurrence for me is to try to open a text thread, and it opens a thread from someone ~5 threads down. I have also opened a thread, sworn it was the correct person, and then upon closing the keyboard noticed I have a different thread open. This can cause some serious issues, and I can't believe it isn't talked about more.
I have had this happen using froyo and GB Sense Roms when using the stock app and GoSMS pro.
Count me in no more sexting as it will get you in trouble lol. No seriously I've had this happen on.every Rom. I'll text persona and it shows sent but personb will receive. Just started happening since Mr2 official ota. The only time it dies not happen is with handcent or go sms. How do I install asop sms on sense Rom on rooted tb?

First download the aosp mms.apk and place it on you memory card..I used root explorer...open it up and scroll to "system". Select it then select "app" you will then see all your system applications. Scroll down till u see "mms.apk" ...at the top right of your phone u will see a selection dat says "mount' selct it..then long press "mms.apk" and select delete. After doing this then reboot your phone. When it is back up go back to root explorer and scroll to "sdcard" and selct it..find where u saved the aosp mms.apk then copy it ..now back out and return to the "system", click mount on the top right of your phone and paste the aosp mms.apk into the system..then u need to set permissions. Long press on the new mms.apk you installed then select permissions..the first row of boxes should be checked already and on the second row just the first box..select ok..click mount on the top right of your phone again then reboot your phone and there u have it

Hmmm, I wonder if this is an issue with Sense ROMs or the radio. I'm running CM7 so I dunno how it would affect me, but so far, I haven't had an issue.
This does remind me of the problem I had with my Droid 2 before I went to the Thunderbolt. It wouldn't send texts to the wrong person, but the damn messaging app would delete the wrong thread every time. I go to delete a thread with a long-tap, and it would delete a thread a few spaces down instead. It was freakin annoying as hell.
it's annoying. I have to remember to delete all threads to insure it doesn't text the wrong person. Texting the wrong person happens more than twice a week.
Weird, I've never had this happen.
I've had this happen on the original software the TB came with but since using mr2 or cm7 I've yet to have it happen.

I had it happen already a bunch of times, perhaps once every 2 or 3 weeks. Extremely annoying but thankfully hasn't caused any serious issues (yet). Still its happened enoighbto make me actually feel cautious about texting. I just recently switched to handset for this very reason to see if it continues.

It's not the phone that's doing it. The problem may actually be with Android or with sense. It happens on other models of phones as well.

So I've noticed that ever since this OTA update from almost 2 months ago happened, my phone has been acting weird with the standard messaging app. When I go to text someone (I know for a fact I'm entering a message to the right person), it automatically sends that message to someone else. Now this hasn't gotten me into huge trouble yet, if you know what I mean lol but its quite annoying! Any advice?

Yea, this is a problem with the stock mms app. Not sure what causes it though, but i use go sms pro with no problems.

Have new text messages and new emails that don't show up as numbers on the SMS or mail app? Anyone have this issue?
I did have this issue. When it happened to me I was actively using the phone and didn't get the notification at all for some reason.
Is this the scenario that it happened for you? or was your screen locked?
I've had it happen multiple times since Saturday. Just checked and I had over 4 texts that i never was notified about.

I think that's what happened. Yesterday I got a text: no notification, no sound, no vibration, and no badge. Had no clue I had a text until this morning.

So. I'm still new to the phone, about 3 weeks now. Everything is great but my texting issues.
The first week was fine, than all the sudden every text I send is market as pending. So I can't tell if a text sends or but. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, I have no idea.
Though with this issue, I restarted my phone yesterday I realized my phone sent 4 people texts that I sent a week ago, just sent after I restarted.
What's the deal? How do I fix it?

I can tell you how i fixed my issue when something similar was happening to me. I had this issue on my previous phone as well so i figured after getting this phone and it continued it had to be something to do with my account setup. Some kind of glitch. So after getting fed up with Tech support I had my network account manager have all my features and account removed, then added back on like it was a new account. Then I did a factory reset and woila! My network signal is stronger than ever. Texts send instantly! Faster than I have ever seen them send! lol.
