Hi, I have 2 devices, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7' (Gingerbread 2.3.4) and iPhone 4 (iOS 5 beta 4).
I tried to connect the android device to iPhone hotspot to use Wi-fi. But it failed.
However iPhone 4 could be connected to Galaxy Tab hotspot.
To test my devices I borrowed several android devices, Galaxy S and HTC Desire 2. And then tried it again.
However, still my iPhone couldn't use the hotspots. (the other way, connecting my iPhone to the android devices works though.)
Also, my Galaxy tab can use the android devices' hotspot.
Actually, I saw several posts on this forum about connecting android device to ad-hoc network. And I tried to changed several wpa_supplicant versions. But It didn't help.
I guess ad-hoc network patch is meaningful if my android device cannot access any hotspot no matter what device is (android, iOS). But my Galaxy tab can access android hotspot. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Hey guys
I just bought the above Android phone for my wife.
When I want to connect it with Wifi (Internet Sharing) from MacBook Pro, my Wifi suddenly stop working to share it. However, when I tried with my Sony Experia X10, it successfully connected.
I think this have something to do with Android system on that Samsung phone.
Anyone can help me?
Android devices are known for their USB and Wi-Fi tethering abilities—rooted or unrooted—which comes in handy for those that travel and need internet on their laptops in areas that don't have any Wi-Fi networks available, but have a strong cellular signal.
And tethering via USB is pretty much everybody's preferred method, since it provides faster speeds compared to Wi-Fi tethering. Plus, your phone is constantly being charged, whereas Wi-Fi tethering drains your phone's battery.
While USB tethering your Android device to a Windows-based laptop is pretty easy, Mac users were required to root their phones in order to get the faster, more stable USB tethering to work. But not anymore. Now there's a new Android app on the market that lets you connect your un-rooted device to your MacBook for easy web access without any hiccups.
HoRNDIS, (pronounced horrendous) is a driver created by Joshua Wise for Mac OS X users with 10.6.8 and above. It allows you to use your Android smartphone's native USB tethering mode to gain internet access—Without rooting.
How to Use HoRNDIS on Your Mac for USB Tethering
To get started, first download the latest binary package of HoRNDIS from Github.
Follow the instructions in the installer. Once installed...
Connect your Android phone to your Mac via USB cable.
Go the settings menu on your phone.
In the connections section, select "More…".
Select "Tethering & Portable Hotspot".
Check the "USB tethering" box.
If everything worked out okay, your device should now become available in Mac OS X's network menu.
HoRNDIS has been tested extensively on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Android Jelly Bean, but is reported to work just fine with other Android devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S, S2 and S3 as well as the new LG Nexus 4.
Try out your phone and let us know if it works!
Hello. I am using Wifi tether for root users for Android (and also barnacle sometimes). These applications create an ad-hoc network so each time I can only connect my macbook with my cellphone. I would like to share the internet connection with more than 1 devices and especially my android tablet. My android tablet ( and other android devices I have ) does not recognize the ad-hoc network so I cannot connect to it at all.
In windows I could possibly use the application "Connectifyme" that would split the wifi in two networks and share the connection through the one.
Is there any way to do this using the macbook? Is there any way in gerenal to do this (even without using the macbook).
Any suggestions?
Hello!
Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE i9305
OS: official, unbranded Samsung's Android 4.4.4, rooted with CF-Auto-Root
With i9305 I can create hotspot for other devices and they easily connect. However, I'm unable to cast clip from YouTube app on the i9305 to the LG smart tv while in router-mode - the app doesn't see the tv. On the other hand, tablet connected to the i9305's hotspot can cast clips on the same tv no problem. My guess it is hat system-wise the i9305 doesn't see itself as one of the devices connected to the self-centred hotspot-router, but as only as a router.
Is there a way to fix this problem? Some app maybe or CFW?
Thanks in advance for useful responses.
Hi Team!
I am super new here (and new tot he android ecosystem too!)
I recently got my first android table (Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 505 - LTE version) and successfully rooted it.
I am after a software that could allow me to hotspot my LTE/Cellular on the tablet that would not need me to alter any settings on my computers which will use the hotspot.
In the apple world (on a jailbroken device) I have used TetherMe which essentially you just turn on HotSpot on the iPhone and every device connects directly and everything magically works. (no need to set up proxies or VPNs or adjust TTLs on devices) is there anything like this in the android world (paid or free?)
Many thanks!
Bump - if anyone could give me a sort of direction?
