here's the deal..
If you were on 7661.. you won't get twitter contacts showing up unless you do a hard reset* on your device.
*Twitter feeds for these people will show up without doing a reset, but you won't get them in contacts and they won't show up if you have the "what's new" feed limited to people in your contacts list.
The ones that show up in your contacts will be the people that you are following already at the time you add your twitter account.
Currently you have to delete your twitter account from the phone and re-add it to pick up people you've started following since you added your account to the phone.. (or at least I have to.. they don't show up for me otherwise)

Sorry for the n00b question:"What's a "hard reset"?
I used the Reset button on the phone, I also restored the NoDo backup and went to 7712... is that what you mean, or do I have to format the device?

I found out a way to do it without hard-resetting. Look for the account you're syncing your contacts with (for me gmail). Delete the account from the phone and go to your Contacts settings and filter your contacts to show twitter ones.
Your twitter contacts should now show, re-add your original contact account (gmail again) and sync its contacts and everything should be good from there.

Contacts & FB

How do you link contacts to FB, it seems that some of my contacts are linked and some arnt that once were...Is this a rom issue, because i followed the steps to fix FB sync issue, and some of the contacts do sync. But now i cant even create a new contact and link them to facebook
Thanks In Advance...
I read in the forum here that it was doign that because the autokiller setting were too strick (Sorry Cant remember who said it so cant give credit). So change that to default then click the sync button. I did this and about 4 hours later all my facebook contacts pictures synced. hope that helps
also update facebook in the market
yeah i did the auto killer setting adjustment, but i cant link new contacts with FB...is there another method?
Not sure exactly what you are asking, but I think I know.
You have contact A, and they also have a Facebook account, but they are not linked at all. You want them linked. Open up "People" go to contact "A", then move the slider to the right to the Updates tab, and it should say something along the lines of "Link to a Facebook Profile". Click that, and select the profile.
go into settings and accounts and delete facbook then re-add it.
Exactly ! Thanks it was driving me nuts ... it used to be @ edit contact screen , now its moved , thanks for the info , I can relax now
I had problems early on with not all of my facebook contacts showing up. I deleted the facebook account. Before adding it back I went to applications and scrolled down to facebook for htc sense and cleared the data.

I don't think you can add them individually, but if you go to settings/applications/people you can limit it to just have facebook contacts for the people already in your contact list. It'll still show updates for all your facebook contacts tho.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense....I'm not great at explaining these things!
Thanks, thats exactly what i wanted all done!
No probs, glad it worked!
Now, back to Zune backgrounds!
oh, ive just noticed that people who write their names differently on facebook wont appear on my phone. anyone else have this problem? for example, if you have a "john smith" in your contacts, and if on facebook hes called himself john "smyth" on facebook, then WP7 wont be able to add the FB contact "john smyth" to the WP7 contact. anyone else have this problem?
Yep, I had that as well. I've a friend in my contact list called Jim but his facebook name is James. What I did was link the contacts together before I switched to just having facebook contacts that were already in my contact list.
Again, sorry if this doesn't make much sense!
Yeah, I was going to say you can link them manually - probably the way to go!

[Q] Contacts on WP7

I know WP7 is all about connecting people and stuff, but why is "formally known as contacts" now merged with "people"?
I have tons of contacts associated with my email address and scrolling through hundreds of contacts just to find my home number is ridiculous.
So my question is:
Is there a way to only display SIM contacts? Not facebook and email contacts..
EDIT.. I gave up, reseted my phone and made my primary email address my google (which i have no contacts on)
Then later added my windows live account..
Microsoft really needs to step their game up

Apparently SIM contacts can be imported but have no idea what about seeing them.
As for scrolling, you have Search button in People so no need to scroll.
You can also select by letter.

Yeah i know what you mean but in almost every letter category there are at least 20-39 contacts, since im using my business email for my phone...
I have imported my contacts and they are right in the mix in the overkill of contacts. Searching for them is meh, but if its the last resort i dont think Windows Phone 7 is for me. I just wanted the ability to slide straight to my contacts on the go without the hassle. Theres no reason my boss should be even there lol
If I understand correctly, you want only the contacts on your SIM to appear, but not contacts from your email accounts and facebook?
Not exactly sure how to show the SIM contacts, or if they show up by default. You could try going to Settings-->Email & Accounts, and clicking on the listed email accounts and unchecking "Contacts" under "Content to Sync". Also, going to Settings--> swype right to applications --> people, you can select to "Only add Facebook info to existing contacts" under "Include Facebook friends as contacts", assuming you haven't tried these steps already. That should prevent the contacts on your email account from being seen on your phone.
As for the SIM contacts, i would assume they show up once they are detected? Maybe someone else could verify, since I don't have any way of checking.
Yeah I know about those settings, I even removed my Facebook account from the phone. But with my windows live account under content to sync it only has "email" as an option. Nothing else.. I also heard that since its the primary email It does everything by default and cannot be removed without a factory reset.. Which i just cannot do :[

[Q] Managing Contacts, simple options?

Hi, Just got my charge today and synced up my contacts from my gmail (primary contacts list), facebook and twitter. But my contacts seem to be a mess. Many of them were automagically linked together but many others just show repeats of each other and when I link them manually, it seems as if I am loosing some information. Also, many of my google contacts show up multiple times with repeated info, when I link them it just ends up doubling up on everything. Moving from an old HTC windows mobile phone, I am stuck with these ridiculous notes in contacts that HTC used for its sync.
An example, My friend Becky has two contact entries, both from google (despite only one entry in my google contacts). One contains most of the info and the other just an email address, when I join them I loose the number and name and just end up with her email address as the contact. What gives? My question:
Is there a decent contact manager recommended that will join contacts as one contact (not multiple) and remove redundant information?
Is there any logic to joining contacts that will prevent me from loosing information like that or am I doing something wrong?
How do I add my google contacts "into my phone" so that I can use it to create groups and the such? I believe I can just export a contacts file and import it but I am afraid I would run into the same problem of multiple contacts with the same information in them.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
ok heres what i would do, remove all the accounts with contacts from the phone and then reboot. now add your google account back and check it. if every thing is good. move on with Facebook and such.. i dont let Facebook sync with my phone after what happened to me. anyways check it again.
this fixed my problem with google and hotmail, and other accounts. hopefully it will work for you.
Or you can open up contacts, hit menu and set the privcey filters..like don't show Facebook contacts etc
I dont think so
If you download the Facebook app from the market it gives you different options to sync. I sync only with exsiting contacts that are in my phonebook. That way I don't have a million people in my contacts list.
I followed your advice and got it the way I like. I had to sync twitter and facebook through the phone and manually combine contacts. At least now when I user the message app, I don't have four or five of the same people. Out was word when I first noticed the facebook and twitter apps both have an additional sync option. This is my first android smartphone too. Thanks for the advice.

[Q] I HATE facebook contacts, how to remove them?

I apologize for the profanities in advance, but I'm really pissed off!
I avoid the facebook app like the plague, because once you turn it on it infects the entire phone. However, yesterday I was group-pressured into to checking something out on fb, so I installed it, and set up my account. I clicked in !!!!!!!!DO NOT SYNC ANYTHING!!!!!!!! only to notice that in about 10 minutes, fb took a big ****ing diarrhea right into my contacts lists.
Now I have around 1000 contacts in my phone, 98% of whom I will never call in my entire life. All contact pictures have been changed from the google image to the fb-image, and whats even more disturbing, is that when I make a call to a person with a facebook account, I see his fb-status or last wall-post in the dialer! WHY?! Why would I want to see this?!
I realize that clicking DO NOT SYNC ANYTHING doesn't matter, because HTC Sense ignores this and syncs everything anyway under "accounts". But I realized this too late and walked straight into the trap like a complete idiot. Now its too late, my phone is infected by the facebook diarrhea, and even if I remove the fb syncing in "Accounts", I have all the contacts left.
My question is, is there any way to remove all contacts, besides those in google, without doing a complete nandroid restore? (Im on stock sense.)
Thanks... Again, sorry for the profanities...
Nevermind me.... I solved it.
LOL you totally raged
I have this problem too!
How can I fix this and remove or hide my facebook contacts?
It should be in settings, accounts. There should be sync options there for all of you're accounts linked to the phone.

Settings/Accounts&Sync/Facebook/
Just uncheck "Sync Contacts", and restart your phone.
Or....
From inside the facebook app
1. Press the menu key (the three dots that no one likes)
2. Select "settings" (the sprocket)
3. All the way at the bottom is an option called "Sync Contacts", select this.
4. Select the option "Remove Facebook Data".
5. Then select "sync" in the upper right-hand corner.
This should remove this facebook info from your contacts list only...
If I helped click the "thanks" button.

Suggestion. Go to contacts. Click CONTACTS tab>settings> "find people you know" uncheck, "suggest contact link" uncheck also
This should solve it.
Also to show only people with phone number select "only with phone numbers" in the above same screen

Thanks for the help but it didn't do anything. As of right now I dont see my contacts from facebook in my address book since i've set the settings on that already but sadly if i go to manually dial a number those same facebook contacts still show up. same with emails. i guess ill just have to log in and out of facebook each time so they stop showing up. its a pain in the butt... i've accidentally text messaged/emailed people i never speak to thanks to this.
Don't use the facebook app and the facebooks friends won't show up. I use the browser to access facebook and its the same thing.
