God problems - HTC Inspire 4G

No gps after rooting with adrv rom. The seems to find me on maps bit will never load in 3rd, party Apps like runkeeper.... Any ideas?

Try FasterFix, I had same problem.

If it is a sense based rom and you are in the US then make sure the advanced GPS settings look like this:
NTP server address: north-america.pool.ntp.org
SUPL server address: supl.google.com
SUPL port: 7276
I would also download GPS Status and use the Reset A-GPS State under tools to see if that helps.

I lol'd at the title of this.
On topic, FasterFix works very well.

also, try the gps scripts here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036253
and make sure your radio and RIL match.
both key things that helped me fix my gps woes

I also saw the title and was going to recommend speaking with a priest, but follow the advice from the other members instead.

Damn you beat me to a witty religion post.... I viewed this thread just for that. You have ruined my night sir lol. definately the funniest auto correct blunder I've seen in awhile thank you op I did actually lol on this one

I used to use Android Revolution and had that problem. This solved it:

It is #14 (#4) in the Android Revolution FAQ.

Here's how I did it:
1. Download the zip file
2. Unzip the vision_wipe_efs file onto your sdcard
3. Go into root explorer and move the file to /data/local/tmp
4. Open terminal emulator and type the commands (starting with "su")

Glad to hear it. His site is a bit verbose imo, but yes the results are, for at least some of us, pretty amazing after fighting a marginal GPS experience with this device.

Maybe you feel cooler entering secret codes in the dialer instead of running basically a script to type in the numbers for you? Just sayin.

Anyone Using Their Inspire With T-Mobile?

I know im operating on EDGE but geez my Internet seems unusable. i have my apn setup but it literally takes 2 minutes to load a single page. Is that normal or should i change some of my settings up. Thanks.
That is normal. Tmo gets EDGE only on the Inspire. No way around that.

i know all i will get is EDGE but i used EDGE on my Nexus and my pages were loaded faster. I guess ill check my settings.
You can change the gprs setting in build.prop and see if it helps. It very well may. 12 is the value I would try.

If you go to development there is a thread about editing build.prop for faster speeds. I posted an apk that makes it easier to backup then edit your build.prop.

Problems with NPR app

When I click on a story I get shrunken pictures and a black screen. I've removed the hosts file, so i assume it's not ad block.

Since TP's ROM is based off a nightly I thought maybe this is related to that but the nightly threads didn't report any similar bug.

Looking again at your capture, I'm wondering if it is a themeing issue. It looks like maybe a black font black background or maybe a transparency issue. Mine has text (black on white) where your screenie shows all black. I don't know anything about TP so I thought I'd mention it.

I'm using the system theme in cm7. The other themes were stripped out. How do i install another theme like cyan bread? Are they apk's?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
I've never used the TP ROM personally, but it looks like there's a theme'd version and a "non-theme'd" version. Not sure if that has any effect on the NPR app, but it might be worth looking into?

Update. I'm seeing the same problem using the reddit app, but not all articles. I click the link within reddit and the article turns black and i can't see any text.

This happened on the reddit app with black background. When i pinch to zoom, it turns white again. If i use the white background, the issue never occurs.

Here's an article a while back where they talked about this.
http://m.androidcentral.com/google-movies-blocked-rooted-devices
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I saw it available for download on Android Central. I was so excited. I love the new look. The thing I like about it even more is the fact that it resolved an issue I had with the previous market version. Randomly, when installing/updating apps, the install would fail and say that there was insufficient storage (which was not the case - I'd have over 400 or 500 mb available). I would have to restart the download for it to go through. I updated a handful of apps in the new market without any hiccups .
For users that haven't done this already. It'd be a good idea to wipe cache (and I did dalvik cache also) after installing the new market.

Location problems

I can confirm that every time I flash a new Rom it takes a long time (2-5min) to locate itself for the first time.I haven't paid to much attention to see if it's getting worst.

I have just learned to assume people are. Especially people who are the only ones reporting a problem.
Your phone will use triangulation(cell), gps and wifi for location. It is really hard for me to believe that all three of those have failed. So either your missing the glaringly obvious or you are the unluckiest person ever to own the Rocket.
OMG I've been through this nightmare and here is what I did:
Yes you know and you already did it but make sure and here is why:
There is a Green button in apps menu (Google Settings) that overrides all the maps locations, ads, searches and other junk. Go in there and toggle location settings on/off.
There is a Blue button in apps (Google Now) and have that on too for now until you get it working but the Green (Google settings) supersedes all and blue doesn't have to necessarily be on.
Good luck champ!
