[Q] LG Updater tool for LGP999DW?

I am just looking for a simple answer. I want to know if i try to do the manual update via computer, will i brick my phone? My model is the LGP999DW. It is an exchange T-Mobile sent me. I will be using an older windows xp PC to do the update. Is there anything special I need to do to make this work or when this fails anything i can do to fix?
thank you guys so much for your help!
This is all you have to do: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183168
I did it on mine(also LGP999DWP) on my Win7 64bit and it worked with issues. Just follow the instructions and you should be fine. Make sure you have the drivers installed!
Good Luck! ;-)
Mine doesn't have the "p" at the end? Also is it better to just root n flash the rom?

I just did it using the tool, my phone (same model number) is fine. Took 30 min.

[Q] Trouble Flashing 21e.KDZ

I'm having trouble flashing 21e.KDZ. I am using UpTestEX_mod2_marwin to flash but when after clicking normal web upgrade test and then upgrade start, the LG Mobile Updater opens and detects the phone but never starts flashing v21e.
I have also tried using KDZ_FW_UPD_EN and get the same result.
The phone is rooted and I am doing the upgrade on a pc running windows xp sp3.
Here is the current software info.
Version 2.3.5

I tried using the method from the link above and after multiple attempts it finally worked. Finally enjoying my O3D without the ghost calls. :good:
Thanks for the help.

accidentally wiped system and now it won't boot!!

I accidentally wiped system, and cache and now my phone would just show the HTC logo when it first starts up. I can get into recovery and bootloader but I'm kind of stuck there. I tried flashing custom rom and it still won't work. I can't flash RUU because I'm with Fido and RUU doesn't seem to exist for One S with CID ROGER001. Is there any way to fix it? I have unlocked my phone so the warranty is already void your help would be highly appreciated.
Clear /data/, /system/, cache and dalvik-cache, flash a custom rom and fastboot flash the boot.img and it should work just fine, as long as you flash a rom that works with your device (most roms work on the S4, only a select few works with the S3).

If you have an s4 htc one s I would reccomend a stable custom rom.
The ROM I'm using is a dark jelly cyanogenmod 10.1 rom, which has an installer so no need to use hboot.
Put the zip on sd card install via recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051865
Really easy to use and very smooth rom!

When I had windows 7 the tool kit and an AOKP rom worked just fine, however the toolkits do not seem to function on the ridiculous Windows 8 I upgraded to... right now it looks like I'm going to have to "fix" my computer then "fix" my phone but if anyone knows of a toolkit or the like that works with windows 8 I would appreciate the knowledge.

Did you install the drivers properly first? There's an option in that menu that'll let you install it.

EDIT: Also, make sure you're using a USB 2.0 port. I was using a 3.0 port and for the longest time couldn't figure out why it wasn't working on my Mom's HOS

What do you need a tool kit for...? Anything you can do with a tool kit can also be done with simple fastboot commands... I suggest you learn the commands and install fastboot its alot more effective as well

Apart from the unlocking process, which you probably have already done, theres really only 2 commands you need to know: fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryfile and fastboot flash boot nameofbootfile

Help, Phone Stuck On Slim Bean

Hello all, could someone perhaps assist me? Now I know how to get my phone back to fresh out of the box, I have done it before to unbrick my device. However I am having major issues with doing this again. Last night I wanted to try Slim Bean, The ROM is beautiful and fast, but Tethering is buggy and my device frequently freezes and reboots, so I tried to flash Valhalla Black Edition, my device then was stuck on Team Kick Ass bootscreen forcing me to flash back to Slim. I cannot seem to get my phone recognized with Windows. I have a netbook with Win 7 Starter 32bit, a Desktop with 64bit Windows 7, and a Laptop x64 Windows 8. I have tried multiple drivers and Mini Kies and cannot get my pcs to recognize my phone. What am I doing wrong, somebody please help. My device is highly unstable. I have everything I need to get back to stock except to get my machine to recognize my device.
Hi
I used Heimdall on Win7 32bit and also on Win8 64bit.
You just need to make sure you delete all SAMSUNG drivers.
Then, when you plug phone to a USB port, try to make it to a USB port you haven't used yet.
If you do get the Heimdall screen after running the JAR - ask it to reinstall driver for the "Gadget" device.
You may also try to do it with both SDcard and SIM card removed.
Good luck!
Thanks, Ill give that a try, however I believe when I first tried it on Windows 8 No drivers were installed at all, my pc just states my device as an Unknown Device. I only have 2 USB ports on my 8 machine.

Windows 8 prevents unsigned drivers from installing, thus stops the Zdiag drivers from installing the drivers Heimdall needs. I'm in a rush but if you google disable driver signing Windows 8, you'll find some links that tell you how to reboot Windows 8 into a mode that allows unsigned drivers, then you can use Heimdall. PITA, but the only way around it for now.

Go download the Heimdall suite 1.3.1 with the frontend (don't get 1.3.2, it was buggy), and unzip it, do the driver thing for windows 8, then inside the heimdall frontend folder, there is a drivers folder, in there is zdiag. Run that, that is the driver program, and do the steps to select the gagdet device, install drivers, then close that, then run the one click jar and see if that does it. Zdiag is the program you seem come up before probably, and for some reason it's not, but it's just part of heimdall suite, so you can run it separately and get the drivers installed, then the one click so go through.
Thank you, Once I get a chance after school I will give this a try. And major thanks on the 1.3.2 fact of it being buggy, I had googled zdiag and found out about the suite. I'm hoping this works, Ill reply later to report my results.
Could you provide me with a direct link for 1.3.1 frontend. Looking through the github I am only seeing frontend versions for mac and debian.
EDIT: Scratch that, upon extracting 1.3.1 I saw Heimdall frontend.exe Github just didnt have it listed as the other versions were
MANY MANY MANY thanks!! I was able to restore everything using my windows 8 Laptop Now a quick question Do i need to use the one click to flash bootloaders? I do want to flash Valhalla Black Edition to this phone.
Yes.
Actually you should not have to. If you were on ICS or the kj6 based roms then there is no need to flash bootloaders.
glad that worked for you. I ran into this a bit ago with Windows 8 and my first trying to use Heimdall since I installed 8 and had all those problems and driver signing off plus zdiag worked like a charm. PITA because as soon as you reboot, driving signing is back on again.

Almost everything from CM7 on uses MTD partitions. Slim uses MTD partitions. Valhalla black uses BML partitions. If you don't flash bootloaders you WILL bootloop.

If I had it I would. lol If it did change I missed it. So what am I missing?
Actually give me a few minutes and I'll put VB back on my sdcard. Oneclick without bootloaders. Then flash and see what happens.
You only need to flash bootloader when the current ones are corrupted or coming from a different version of bootloaders IE: froyo or early leaks of Gingerbread.
Nothing is changed in the bootloaders when flahing MTD roms. We dont have MTD bootloaders therefore we cant change them.
You are indeed correct. Just flashed a one click without bootloaders. Then flashed VB. Booted up and runs fine. Thanks for the catch.
EDIT: You are indeed wrong. lol So after it initially booted into the OS I just rebooted the phone. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop at the splash screen. I'll be back after some further investigating.
EDIT2: Just rebooted recovery. Wiped cahes and fixed perms. Still stuck in a bootloop. Give me a few to do it my way. Like flashing the oneclick WITH bootloaders. I'll be back.
Well now I'm back to stock GB with.a custom kernel and I tried to flash Valhalla Black Edition but it changed nothing except the team acid boot screen from the custom kernel

The bootloop has nothing to do with not flashing bootloaders. There is nothing changed in the bootloaders. We dont have bootloaders for ICS/JB. When partitioning the phone for mtd the bootloaders are not touched. Seriously its been explained by bryan and max I think even FB talked about it. Without ICS/JB bootloaders there is no reason to touch that partition therefore no need to flash them.

Flash Stock ROM on a Macbook Pro

Hi,
I would like to know if there's any way I can flash a stock rom on my phone without using RSD Lite. Is it possible to use a tool as the one described in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196718 ?
I want to avoid virtual machines and bootcamp if possible.

If there's a fastboot for Mac just flash each file separetely after extracting the stock ROM from the zip. You can use the XML as guidance

That's right and then using fastboot not adb you would have to flash the files one by one for stock or only the recovery or anything you would want to flash

Why avoid the VM?
I have flashed many phones using both Parallels and Vmware.
I currently use Vmware with no issues.
There is/was a native way to do it called sbf_flash on earlier phones. I don't know if it works on Razr Hd phones because I just use RSD and Vmware.
Good luck.

I have tried flash using Virtual Box running Windows XP. RSD Lite started flashing normally, but got stuck on step 14 of 19. Closed RSD Lite and rebooted... Didn't flashed anything, so no brick. I think I will try VMWare. I just would like to avoid because my Macbook Pro is a bit old (late 2006) so it's a little hard to run virtual machines (but running Virtual Box was smooth)
UPDATE:
RSD Lite worked flawlessly under VMWare Fusion 5 + Windows 7. Thanks everyone!
