Hi mates,
I performed a hardreset today and started downloading all my apps again. Am I the only one missing a lot of games?
Here are what I found so far:
- FlowerZ
- Infinite Flight
- TouchStudio (okay, not really a game, but still missing)
- Impossible Shoota
- Chickens can dream
Is it just my marketplace trying to trick me or did they really disappear for no reason?
With the latest App Hub update, MS is asking for a USK content certificate for games on the german market. Developers can not get such a certificate, i.e. developers can not submit new games or game updates to german markets and are forced to pull them from our marketplace until MS can resolve this issue (might take weeks!).
EDIT: I have twittered with @flyingdevstudios (Infinite Flight), and they said they will re-publish it on the german marketplace, as soon as MS has resolved the issue (the MS advertised "workaround" has not worked, apparently)

Okay, thanks for the information. Kinda funny though that Rise of Glory is still available, but Infinite Flight is not.
[Edit]
Gotta check what happens if I turn of location services and set up US as my region etc.
Infinite Flight has recently ben updated to Version 1.8 (now with space shuttle). Since the update came after the dreaded App Hub update, flyingdevstudios was either forced not to update at all, or pull it from the german marketplace for the time being.
Rise of Glory simply hasn't been update since the App Hub update. Existing games won't get pulled, only "new releases" can't get published to the german market.
EDIT: changing your location service wont help. Your marketplace region is decided by your live account.

Thanks for the information. Now that's really f*cked up. -_-

New in the Android Market is an App called Tesco Locator. Shows your nearest stores by distance (By GPS, or search for other city), with opening hours, store facilities & maps and directions.
Please download, and let me know what you think. New features coming soon.
Just too good app. Don't know how I managed without it so far... Keep up the good work!
Cheers / Raj
Thanks Raj,
There will be a minor update this weekend, and hopefully some added functionality before the end of April. We're actively looking for ways to improve the app, so if there's anything you'd like to see, we're open to suggestions!
If people could add ratings on the market as well it would be much appreciated!
Change it to Supermarket Locator and add Asda, Sainsburys etc into the mix
Now that would be a nice app lol

agreed! =]
For some reason, I can no longer to my online shopping from my N1. I've tried it from a variety of different ROM's and even got others to try too... it would appear Tesco is blocking us? The page just wont load, although the exact same url loads fine on my PC.
So, make this app so it works in conjunction with their online delivery ordering and it would be a winner. Scan a products barcode and then press 'add to shopping list' would make this an awesome app.
I e-mailed all the major online grocery shops a month or so ago, no-one was interested in an Android app and it almost makes me angry. Everyone loves the iPhone, but give it a couple more months and Android will be the dominant online mobile device (right now it's actually almost even!)
**Double post**
Thanks for all of your feedback.
In response to the Supermarket Locator, this is something we are currently looking into as a possibility. It has always been on our agenda to open this project up to the other supermarkets, and hopefully we can make this happen in the not too distant future.
AndyCr15 - That's definitely something which is being actively pursued. We have a few ideas for future development of the Tesco specific app, and we are investigating the best way to get the information and functionality onto the Android platform. Product searching is a mammoth area, so I cant promise anything immediately, but it is happening!
There will be another release in the next couple of weeks, with a new feature or two, and some code fixes for efficiency, and hopefully we'll be able to release regular updates and new features.
Hi there,
is it possible to get the application outside the UK? I live in Germany and it doesn't show up on the market (Android 2.1/ Samsung Galaxy Spica/ Portal). I will be coming to the Uk shortly and I just wanted to give it a test.
Cheers, Patrick
Hi,
At the moment our Locator is only for UK stores, and as such we've limited it's availability to the UK. We didn't really envisage a need for it to be included in other markets!
The GPS based location finder wouldn't be very useful from abroad, but there is a text search field as well, so I'm sure it will be of some use. Will you have a data plan or WiFi access whilst in the UK, as this is necessary to obtain the store details and maps etc.
Could you send an email to [email protected], so that if we dont choose to open it up to other markets, I can at least give you the apk to install?
Whats the source of the gps data for this?
Only asking because I normally use google maps for this sort of thing, but their data is imprecise and can be quite a way off.
I was looking for a B&Q the other day and maps showed a cluster of three - none of which were located correctly, satelite view and streetview confirmed this.
If your data source is better than google's you could be onto a winner.
BTW I just checked my local tesco in gmaps and its about 400metres off, in the wrong road in somebodies back garden!
I would guess he's used Google's data. Do you really think he's been able to go round to thousands of Tesco's to check? I could be wrong of course
Hi guys, pjmurphy123 is away this weekend but I also developed the app with him.
I can confirm that the locations (latitude and longitude) of the stores are supplied by Tesco along with the actual address, postcode and phone number if available.
This should result in our app providing you with more accurate results than using google maps.
Hope this helps
[email protected]
Okay, cool I wonder where Google Maps get there location data from then?
Just to let any followers of this thread know, that we have released an update for this app over the weekend, allowing the scanning and storing of your Tesco Clubcard, which can then be scanned by till operatives direct from your phone.
I hope that this feature adds some value to the app for a few people. There are some other features which will hopefully be available to be released in the next week or so, so keep your eyes open for that.
If you do find the app useful, please can you add some ratings or feedback on the Android Market.
New version uploaded allowing shortcut to Clubcard to be placed on to Android home screen.
Thinking of adding in shopping list functionality next.

Hey guys

On the website storm8 and wgen trying to sign up, it says that creating an account shall be done from the application but it can't be done in the application!!
I am stuck at the intro screen where it demands the sign in!
How to create an account?! Should i have an iphone?!
I'm on android 2.2
Please guys some help here pls
Sent from my Nexus One HD2 using XDA App
What a shame...
I know that a lot of people play this game but no one is answering...
Account setup
To setup an account for those games, I had to go to their website from a PC and register or create an account from there to get started. Hope this helps
i played worldwar (similiar to imobster), i never do a sign in, it automatically. (related to google account? i dont know, im totally newb)
I have an identical problem--I had four or five storm8 games. Usually, you're able to easily transfer your account to a new handset by entering in your account info from within the game. I never had to do this until updating to 2.2. For example, on my g1, I would be able to flash any rom (1.5, 1.6, 2.1) except froyo and my accounts would load up automatically. When I switched to Froyo though, I had to actually transfer the account from within the settings menu of the game. Then, all of my games would switch over.
Switching to 2.2 on my captivate, however, is a different story. I can't even get the game to load, as it says that my previously valid account info doesn't match what they have on record. I'm very close to just forgetting about storm8 games all together.
I should mention that I've never created an account through their website--I only created one from within the game (to be able to switch over to 2.2 on my G1). I'm going to create an account on their forum, try that login info in the game and see what happens. Incidentally, my original account info DOES work for logging into the forum...I'm not sure how or why. If creating a new storm8 account through the forum doesn't work, then screw it.
BTW, I've found Forces of War to be a suitable replacement for World War, so you might want to give that a shot
i played word war and imob ... i find imob to be a bit more fun to play.
2.2
It is an issue with 2.2 builds
Storm8 support said:
Hi John,
It's the specific implementation of 2.2 on the phone. Instead of generating a unique ANDROID_ID when the device is first run or factory reset (the intended behavior), it uses a predefined ANDROID_ID for every phone with the same implementation. Addressing this ought to allow for normal gameplay.
Yours,

On any game that you play, go to the main game page, you'll see a "gear" or "gog" icon near the bottom, select that icon. This brings you to another screen with 3 tabs, choose the tab labeled "Storm8". On this screen, mine account is already setup so it shows my information but if you haven't setup an account yet it will let you create one here or give you a web link to the Storm8 page.
Enjoy!

As a Japanese enthusiast I'll give it a shot to the last game (The Last Mage), they look really cool. Sadly I'm not skilled at kanji but who cares, it's a free RPG
Edit: It asked me to register an account and verify via e-mail, which could only be made using a @something.jp address of their choice. Meaning I couldn't get it
My wife is Japanese and from Japan, maybe she can read and register for me
Why do you not learn Japanese language ?

My wife is from China and has no family from China here in the US. So last year we went to China for 6 months (my second time, first was 2 weeks) so that her family could see our daughter and spend time with her. Chinese is hard, but worth learning. For me I wanted to learn it out of respect to my wife and her family. Granted I am definately not fluent but I could tell her family and friends were pleased that I was trying to learn it. Chinese language doesnt have a huge vocabulary, but they do have 4 tones, and you can say the same word but change the tone and it will have different meanings. First couple weeks I was trying to say mother, to my mother in law, and she would just start laughing. Turns out mother and horse are pretty much the same with the exception of a different tone. Thank God in China they dont view calling a woman horse like how it means here in the US.
Otherwise I would have disappeared from Planet Earth forever.
I wonder if there is any way to get the above games? Even if they are in Japanese. I know there is like market enabler, but on Verizon we do not have working sim cards slots on our phones so that wont work. Any ideas of getting these games? That would be neato.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!
The three games at the top I have them. I did the following,
Made an account at the following japanese VPN, I used google translate to create an account:
(This first to fix VPN)
http://software2tech.com/tag/how-to-solve-android-phone-vpn-connection-problem/
Go to this page follow link below to access site and create a VPN account (its free)
http://www.vpnsurfing.com/2011/08/free-pptp-vpn-service-provided-by-tsunagarumon-com/
Sign in with account on VPN under wireless & Networks under your settings
I then used market enabler to reflect Docomo Japan.
I then selected the links above to see if they woulld work and they did. I almost forgot I created a new gmail and listed it as from Japan. Then i changed accounts from android market on my phone and signed in under the new gmail on the website android market. Selected the above links and they worked. They listed up as free. I will save the apks and post links for them here. Next I will try to get Ridge Racer Accelerated. Cross your fingers.
-------
In case you dont want to do any of that above you can try the games, and try using my build.prop. Remember my build.prop is from my phone which is a R800x by default. AND I am not repsonsible if anything bad should happen to you phone in attempting to try this.
Here is the link to download the zip.
http://www.box.com/s/s4srim1f4jvd3ziaxy1i
Update again..... Hmmm.... so the first 2 apps load but it appears the rpg is played inside your web browser. And I am unable to go further, will have my japanese friend take a look and see if he can get beyond that page. Same concept as with Elemental Knights Online (which supports the xperia play directional pads and x button)
Celes Arca works, again Web browserm thats why the games are so small, they are being pushed to your phone via the servers the game is on. Still getting the final stages to work, here is another game, again it was free on the japanese android market.
http://www.box.com/s/xva859j2l4f97lp2bfxf
K, got the games to load up and working however my Japanese is not very good, I mostly just wanted to see if I could get them to download which I have been successful. I really want to try and get Ridge Racer Accelerated, and if I can I will then see if I can get the Resident Evil 4 from the Korean market.
Seems like they are a lot of mmorpgs. All but the last mage. Did anyone try it?
And what about the last game you mentioned?

yes, they are all MMORPG. The largest game is only around 9mb. The games load up in your oweb browser, meaning the game itself is being pushed to your phone via the server connection. If you have ever played Elemental Knight Online (EKO)
https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.co.winlight.eko_tw&hl=en
Its a great game and you can use your xperia play controls, no touchpad. Where EKO is mostly in english, the above ones are in straight Japanese and I am not nearly fluent enough to realy play as game. I was hoping it would be a mix of the two, guess thats why it was region locked to Japan until I got a hold of them.
Anyway what weird is when you click on the links above for the android market they show up as a paid game, when I selected the links and I was on the Japanese VPN with the market enabler for Japan / Docomo they popped up as free, odd. But anywhere if they were not a free app I woula most certainly not have uploaded them. I am still not able to get access to Ridge Racer Accelerated. I need to find a build.prop for the 006SH (Sharp Aquos SO-01C) phone. I have changed what I could to try and reflect the phone and I got it to see it as the above phone, but it still wont let me download it, so obviously I am still missing something. If anyone finds anything please pass it on here so that hopefully we can get access to the game.
Here is the Japanese G-Gee Game Center app. Its a Japanese Game market.

I was able to install Celes Arca using your apk's. Luckily didn't have to use the build.prop or change stuff around.
It was a little annoying because it opens a website and had to go back and forward a few times to log in properly.
When I got into the game I soon had to close it hehe but didn't get into any fight, only spoke to a couple of NPC's and didn't really figure stuff out.

Nice, never played the game but I will give it a whirl when it gets released for xplays.
Later last year my Google Play account has been suspended (long story short, you can't publish an application that tests if the user's device has a security hole. The application didn't do any harm at all, but it's Google rules so nothing I could do when because of that minor detail they removed my account along with all its associated applications; you can read about the app that caused my expulsion here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/location-security-exploit-on-samsung-devices/ ).
Later, I got in touch with Google which they didn't have much to say but said I could republish the applications I had that had not led to my expulsion back on the Market but I would have to use another account. Not all good, but not entirely bad.
Enough about that, for almost half a year I had the intention of getting some of my content back on Google Play, but I decided early on that if I already had lost all download statistics there was no rush in doing it and I would look at with as an opportunity to make all the stuff that I wanted to do the way I think it should be done, I'm talking about refactoring the code and bugfixes; note that the game was on the Android Market since the days of Android 1.5 and I had learned so much in the meanwhile that when I was looking at the code I wanted to make it all over again but only better. So that's what I did and even if it does not pay back, at least I know I did it my way .
To avoid the confusion with the previous version, and since I rewrote most of the application from scratch, I renamed the game as Droid Trivia.
Without further talk, here's the Google Play link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stomachion.droidtrivia
or on Handster: http://www.handster.com/droid_trivia_r788.html?dm=1&multi=1
I really appreciate if all of you reading this would try the game and rate. I'm really proud that I made the game easily playable with up to 4 players and not to repeat questions until it is no longer possible to not repeat. The game is also way more stable and faster than before, and it now bundles 3 languages : English, Italian and Greek.
As any good programmer, I always want to do more and more and end up never thinking it is perfect but at least I think it is ready for deployment and stable enough for the general public. Some things I plan for the future are tablet support and some more eye candy, and of course more questions as that is the game's fuel . That said, I'm open to suggestions and bug reports has I always have been.
Hey all,
pypmin is a web monitoring application for administrators, it helps you keep track of the availability and response time of your website applications on the go using your phones internet connection.
You simply build a list of websites and pypmin will poll them in the background. When a website is unreachable pypmin alerts you with the http status code, you can also opt in to receive alerts whenever the content of the website changes.
You can configure the poll interval, and also the threshold of consecutive failures before an alert is made, in order to account for occasional problems with your phones connectivity.
I made this app a few weeks ago as a private tool for monitoring the websites that I host, I figured it was ready to dish out to people. Please tell me what you think, if you end up using it and want new features then please let me know.
You can find the app at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.creepy.pyp
Edit: New features including content change alerts have been added to version 1.0.6, there is now also a pro version with extras on the play store. Some advanced settings have been made pro exclusive, so if you rely on those settings you'll have to stick with 1.0.5, which will remain attached to this thread.
For those interested, I've added an APK file.
Has anyone had a chance to try this out? I'd be interested to know of any opinions/issues you've come across. So far I've only managed to test it on the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5 and Galaxy Note.

Funnily enough I'm actually in the process of making a version of this for myself. Stats such as visitor counts and server CPU and memory usage would have to come via the server itself, or an analytics platform, so to add this in I'd have to dish out some scripts and a tutorial for setting this up on your own server.
I'm definitely willing to do that as an open source project, since I'm making it anyway, but I'll want some time to finish it and test it thoroughly. If anyone else is interested in this then let me know which analytics platform you use, if any, and I'll see what I can do.

Would you be able to add a feature where it tells you if changes have been made/site was updated since the last poll?
For example, I randomly check http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC/ for new builds of firmware (DDWRT) for my router. This app is very light weight and it would be great if it would respond back and say "Hey, the site I've been randomly checking for you to make sure it's up has also been updated with new content."
This would be valuable to myself and I am willing to throw you 5 bucks if you can add it.
Thanks!
Very helpful, thx for this app.

For example, I am admin on 2 wordpress-homepages with low traffic hosted on cheap web-hotels. Those web-hotel-provideres run badly designed robots, that looks for suspicius code on all their sites, and changes my .htaccess if the robot thinks, it has found something (without warning me).
This feature could help find a changed .htaccess file faster than I can do it today.

Adding an option to run nrpe/nagios checks remotely on Windows boxes would be most useful. I monitor with nagios, and use nrpe for all of windows vm's. Health, mem, cpu, etc. Open source so can likely make use of nrpe in this handy little app.

Hey all! I've just uploaded pypmin version 1.0.6 to this thread as well as the play store.
Version 1.0.6 has the following extras:
- Optional alerts for content changes (configured per website)
- Export your pyp items (for importing into the new pro version)
I have also released pypmin pro to the play store. It's a paid version that has a new benchmarking utility for testing the performance of your server. Some of the advanced settings in 1.0.5 have been made exclusive to the pro version, so if you rely on those settings you might want to stick to version 1.0.5 if you're unwilling to buy the pro version.
I'm currently working on having server side statistics integrated into pypmin, but I haven't got a full plan for this yet so I can't say if or when it will be ready. Please let me know if there are any extra features you'd like and thanks for giving pypmin a try!
Hey all, pypmin was recently updated to version 1.1.2, this adds the ability to specify the exact response code expected for each individual website. This allows you to monitor websites where a '200 OK' response is not actually expected.
For example, you could be monitoring a website that requires authentication, and so you would specify the code 401 to be expected. With that option set pypmin will not only alert you when an error is returned, but also when a 200 response is recieved which indicates that you have accidentally opened up the site to unauthorized clients.
Enjoy.
