Would you trade your captivate for a htc desire z

I love the captivate its my first android device however a friend wants to trade for his new htc desire z would you do it ???

nope captivate is way faster and better gpu than desire z . if it was desire hd i might consider maybe lol.

desire Z is actually much faster if you intend to overclock some of these device can run close to 2 ghz , has a keyboard and led for camera , I bought the captivate right away when I saw the screen ,, I mean 4 inch Super amoled , the desireZ looks like spinach .

Once you go SAMOLED, you can't go back . My friend has the HD7 amd the screen is terrible even though it's bigger. Colors look stale like old bread. I just won't make the mistake of buying a US dumb-downed version again

I actually had to choose between the Desire Z/T-Mobile G2 or the Captivate.
Went for the captivate due to the SuperAMOLED screen and because the HTC Vision (Desire Z) is a b1tch to root.

SAMOLED FTW!!!!

HTC is for me!
After owning 2 HTC androids and now a Samsung Cappy. I would go back to HTC any day over the shortcomming of this terribly designed phone.
But hey, that's my optionion, and you should go with what you think is better. Are all the flaws worth having a Super AMOLED screen over?

lol most people aren't going to overclock their phones to 2 ghz. that's kind of asking your phone to overheat and/or shorten its life

The Cappy screen is impressive. I get loads of compliments even from the iPhone fanboyz.

While the Cap's screen is just crazy awesome, that keyboard would be even more useful for me. I'm pretty sure i'd do it

Epic 4G much??

I would do it in a heartbeat. Even if just to do another trade or sale. The z will get you easily 150 more than the captivate will sell for.
So...if you choose not to, tell your friend to look me up

Well the only reason i'd trade for it is for sense, since I find sense more appealling, but even with that reason i wouldn't trade for it.

Seems like everyone wants a Captivate nowadays

I totally agree about the samoled. I've tried the inspire and the atrix only to go back to my captivate. Nothing matches the screen on the captivate right now. Atleast until the superamoled plus comes out.

Sadly this, no matter what I am not forced to buy samsung ^_^
This is even starting to effect me on the computer screen level.
Good thing other companies have led monitors

As most have said, S-Amoled is just the point of no return. I can to it from an X10 I gave my dad, looking at his phone again looks like 360 vs NES.

I couldnt agree more. I had a laptop with a LED on it and went to a better one with a LCD.. and would kill to get the LED screen on this laptop. I actually went to the buddies house last week I sold the LED one too.. and it made me sad how much nicer it looked.
Ive always thought in my experience screens are: Plasma>LED>LCD. And since I dont think theres plasma phones..

Hello evrybdy i am from India and i am wntng 2 buy an android fone...bt i am confused between the HTC Desire S and the Samsung Galaxy S (Super AMOLED) ...cn u all plss help me...and duz d Desire S really have a Death Grip?

Never had the death grip problem... but saw it on a youtube video... i think i twas fixed or something

yeah probably fixed, although i still have issues with mine, so i really dont know what video you guys were looking at

well i got the issues too and i'm on htc's latest rom
anyway i hardly think its a hardware fault and a bit software, so i don't think they are able to fix it
software fix helped me to reduce the death grip to 1bar wireless signal but not to kill the death grip fully

The Desire S is so much better than the Galaxy S. The ONLY thing the Galaxy S has going for it is its GPU (which isnt that much better) and Super AMOLED, but there is a significant decrease in screen sharpness because of the PenTile arrangement, so Super AMOLED is actually a hindrance.

yu could argue hummingbird is better than snapdragon, more storage, better battery (?)

Galaxy s pros
Hummingbird will mean smoother running gb than the desire.
Absolutely beautiful display works great in direct sunlight.
Nearly unbrickable phone if your looking to root and rom and such.
Better battery life.
Slightly lighter than the Desire
Desire s pros
More Internal memory
Some prefer the super LCD over AMOLED
More flash storage

i flashed accidently a wrong radio to my desire hd (radio from desire z) just to see that it got a safety radio and did a rollback to prevent any dmg

The galaxy s always had the option of using Odin to get back to stock I glad for that

i wouldn't be that sure ac... i already flashed a galaxy s dead.. flashed with odin and stopped at 1%... 10minutes later i pulled usb plug -> brriiiiick

2 gb flash (+ internal 6 gb Memory?) > 1.1 gb flash?

-3.7 inch screen..(yeah.. i dont think bigger = better)
-i really like the design... and its made of one piece of alluminium and that.. really safe phone.
-Had HTC in the past.. and never had problems with them.. they rock
-Flash camera... yeah.. makes a big difference
Both of them are great phones... but they are still phones.. choose with one you would like from the design.. and not from what inside... they are pretty much the same inside. And about the super amoled...you cant say its a pro, its different.

personally - its specsover looks! i dont want a nice phone but crap specs! i rather have a better one!
personally i prefer bigger screens! (mos my drvices are all large screen)
thats one major favor of the sgs for me! (large super amoled + screen)
you cant deny amoled kills slcd! sure it'll burn out on day, but amoled kills slcd!
i like desire s becayse its great out the box! nice ui, no lag fixes needed etc!
but it has a small community..
the sgs is old now though

Hardware wise, similar - Sensation can be just as good. AMOLED is lovely, but to over-saturated for me, plus it being 800*480 rather than our qHD resolution, it's nice not being able to see as many pixels on the Sensation. I guess it also comes down to if ( wether means castrated ram ) you want a horrid plastic phone or a decent aluminium and soft touch plastic masterpiece

If you go Sensation, just know, anything less than qHD will look 2007. It's really weird how that works, but nothing's quite like it. I know the Galaxy Nexus has 720p display, but it's penntile, so it's not really HD.

If you're no fan of sense, then go for SGS II. It's great phone, my wife has one, the screen is marvelous. I'm fan of sense, so I have a sensation which is great too..
One thing: the sensation can be hold better / nicer than the SGSII, for Samsung you need a cover, to keep grip..

Potentially Updated Specs

I've noticed a few things pop up in various threads about the current\future specs of the One S, after looking on the HTC site another 'change' has caught my eye, not sure if it's correct though.
The one we all seem to know is that it looks like HTC is also going to release the One S with an overclocked (1.7) S3 CPU.
What I've also noticed is that the screen is now also listed as a 720P HD Amoled screen, no mention of Super Amoled (what I have)
Possibly looks like the S3 version will be shipping with the 720P Amoled Screen, be interesting to find out for sure!

Higher res screen and older overclocked chip doesnt sound like a good combination but I guess they're trying to make up for the shortage of s4 chips

With this display and processor combo, I can imagine battery life being absolutely terrible. Kind of a bad deal.

Whoever is in charge of HTC's worldwide site needs to be fired. That info (about the 720p screen) is almost certainly incorrect - note that the text right next to it says 960x540 resolution. Also, if they were changing it we would have heard about it by now (like we did with the S3 version, under the "Ville C2" codename - we even got custom Sensation ROMs based on it).
That said, I think a 720p One S would be awesome - think of the pixel density! As long as I could get it with the S4 though...

can anyone tell me is there any mod or some app to change HTC Sensation Display Contrast like Samsung Galaxy S2 ?
actually i really like the vivid colors in the videos of Samsung galaxy s2 in compared to HTC..so i am curious about it..
Tried to search the forum and Google about it but got no answer..
I hope the display contrast is not related to the screen used in the devices..

Super AMOLED Plus (SGII) vs S LCD (Sensation). Different technologies.

This will obviously not be possible. The SGS2 does have a sAMOLED display whereas the HTC sensation has a sLCD. This mainly causes the differences in contrast, color and brightness.
