since the nexus series are "google phones" ill be spoiled with updates right ?
+ do you think i should wait for newer phones ie dual core
many thanks
You live in a GSM country, i.e somewhere in the world that isn't America and you can't find a HTC Android phone that works with GSM????
I find that very hard to believe.
Anyway, the Nexus S is a great device so you wouldn't be disappointed if you snagged one right now.
Desire, Desire HD, HD2, Legend, Hero, easily could go on.
Galaxy S.

What HTC phone out there is CDMA that doesn't have a GSM counterpart?
I am about to upgrade mine and my wifes phone and I need some guidance on what phone I should get. I will prob get my wife an iphone or windows7 phone, just because I want something easy and painless for her.
I am looking to go to either ATT or Verizon. I have a Samsung Captivate. My biggest problem with this phone is the lag. I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. So the biggest thing that I am looking for in a phone is no lag. I don't really care about custom roms so much because if it runs my apps correctly then there is no need to run a custom rom, so locked boot loader is ok for me.
I have been looking at the new Droid X2 or maybe Droid Charge. LTE is not in my area but will be by the years end, so is getting an LTE phone now what I should do? Do you think it will be better to get a phone off ebay/craigslist and just wait for a newer phone?
I have been a faithful ATT subscriber for years, but they have been pissing me off lately so thinking about switching to Verizon, but if I can get the phone I am looking for on ATT, I will stay.
I am in need of some guidance.
Thanks,
Keith
Buy it on ebay and wait for a phone with ice cream dual core speeds
If you make the switch to Verizon. I would say the HTC Thunderbolt. It almost made me change from T-Mobile using HTC G2. I just like the G2's keyboard. The Thunderbolt is a powerful device that will do anything you want it to. I used a friends Thunderbolt for a few weeks. I never had a problem with lag. It really is a nice phone. That is just my opinion though.
Hello everyone,
As you can see I am a newbie and this is my first post. Excuse me if a thread like this was made before, but after searching on the web I recently found out that I can use my E71 sim card on AT&T phones. I would like people's opinion on which phone I should buy? I also hear from fellow students that CES 2012 just happend. Should I wait for the new phones or just purchase a phone that is out now?
Thanks and much appreciated
Depends what you want, how much you can afford a month and how much your willing to spend on a phone. If your looking for prepaid virgin mobile is good, they have the motorola triumph, htc wildfire s, lg optimus v, lg optimus slider and samsung intercept (all are android) look up some planes on the internet, at&t prepaid is good but metro pcs has nice 4g phones and android phones, I see you want to no whats the best phone from straigt talk, i dont no much about the phones but check out metro, virgin, and at&t
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Well I just read up on how ST has a loop hole and you can use mainly AT&T phone and some T-Mobile phones with the right 3G frequencies. I was willing to spend no more than $250 for a phone, but I don't know how long the loop hole is going to be open so I don't want to spend a lot on a phone and it not work. I was looking at the Atrix but various sites aren't every accurate when it came to comparing it to the Infuse or Inspire and other phones.
Do u want prepaid? For 250 you can by a nice prepaid phone
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Straight Talk offers 2 android phones. The LG Optimus Q and the Samsung Galaxy Precedent.
If u want more android for prepaid id say metro pcs or virgin mobile
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
From what I read can't I just use any phone from AT&T and use my sim card on it? The phones from ST are entry level android and I want a full fledge android phone if there is such a thing.
Yes, you can use any AT&T smartphone on Straight Talk, I did it for about a year. For under $250, I'd try and get an AT&T band Nexus S, an Infuse, or maybe a Galaxy S2 if you can go an extra $100 higher. It's definitely worth the extra cash.
My local Walmart thinks there will be a new Android phone available in February 2012 for Straight Talk, any idea on make/model? or if worth the wait?
Look at virgin mobile, 4g is coming this year but all there other Android is 3g

I have been doing some reading and is it worth buying a 4G phone, since ST doesn't use 4G yet. Until they upgrade their bands?

I think you're missing the point of the OP. He's not asking for recommendations for carriers, or phones on other carriers. He's only interested in StraightTalk, and since ST's GSM phones (at least, the E71) runs on AT&T, you can just stick the E71's SIM card in an AT&T phone and use it. He's asking for good/cheap AT&T phones to run on StraightTalk.
So, to answer the OP's question, I would probably try to go with a Nexus S (look for the AT&T band one, like entropism said), or maybe a used iPhone 4.
I have the samsung infuse 4g and was wondering what a good phone would be to replace it now? I like samsung but i want a phone that can get ICS and has a lot of development here? im planning on getting an unlocked one most likely and im probably just gonna pick it up through kijiji. Thanks
imo the galaxy nexus is the best bang for your buck as far as unlocked unsubsidized phones go.
My wife's MyTouch 4G Slide has a dead microphone and is no longer available from T-mobile. This is one of the two approved replacement/upgrades from the phone insurance/warranty company. What do you like? What do you hate? What kind of problems do you have? The choice is between this and a HTC amaze 4g. Just looking for all the details before I pick a junk phone since I know nothing about either of these devices.

This phone is probably a lot better than the amaze 4g....htc's tend to get motherboard issues a lot...this is the best keyboarded phone available hands down
Not a fan of the amaze 4g, the doubleshot (mytouch 4g slide) was a great phone but this one beats it in most ways other than camera, your wife will be happy with it so long as you root it and get rid of touchwiz

Thanks for all your input everybody. She has been using my old Samsung gs2 for a day now as a spare phone and proclaimed today via text that he hates it and also Samsung as a result. I went with the HTC since that's what she is used to in a smartphone ui.
