[Q] What does ww mean?! - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

someone please tell me what what this term means!

ww is one of the model numbers. the stock firmware has a few different varients one of wich is the global or world model(ww) others include (US) for the united states and i believe there is also a (UK) for the united kingdom. Appart from the stock firmware at this point it does not really matter once you are on a custom rom.

is Canada ww or us?

the one i got here in our good old native land was a ww model b70 but the one my friend got when they first came out was a us b30. might have been because he got is at bestbuy and they share their inventory across borders. if you still have your box there should be a big white sticker and right above the "M" in made in china there will be a two leter code which is your area code. or if you are still on stock firmware then in settings aobut tablet it is the first two letters of your build number

[Q] Will Transformer purchased in Canada update in Europe?

My cousin asked me to buy him a Transformer here in Canada and take it with me to europe when I go there as it's much cheaper here. My question is, if I buy a TF in Canada and take it to Europe, will it update there ok? Is there somethink to consider? I know that it will come with a North American version of the ROM. Will OTA updates work or will the region somehow be detected?
Sorry for the noob question, but really need help with this.
Thanks in advance!
Should do, if not you can always do it manually through the asus website. I know Canada has the ww model and im pretty sure it is the same model in the uk but not positive if anyone from the uk can verify this. Only thing to consider is different wifi channels as well the power plug. but im sure you can get a converter for that
I have an US version and running it here in Europe Belgium to be precise, and it updated
correctly (both of them a b60 and b70)
regards
Kef
I got my Transformer in Canada recently to bring back to the UK. It has updated fine to 3.2. I got a cheap US to UK adapter off Amazon which allows me to charge it easily.
I got mine in Quebec so the dock keyboard has the French layout (" and @ swapped over), but setting the locale to the UK has swapped them back - although the label on the physical buttons don't tally up with the characters the buttons represent but that is a minor issue and one I got used to very quickly.

[Q] Indication on box of software region?

I'm a Brit living in Kazakhstan. I plan to buy a Galaxy Note 10.1 locally, for use here and back in UK/EU.
The last tablet I bought locally, a Tab 7.7, continues to refuse to update its software, either through Kies or via the web. The software code - decrypted courtesy of XDA - revealed that the tablet was originally retailed in UAE. Hence apparently its refusal to update in a different region.
Is there a way to deduce the software region from the various codes on the outside of the packaging - i.e. without booting up the device and reading the software code?
Standard answer would be to flash the stock firmware through Odin for whatever country you want .
My box has no details of firmware neither has outside of the Note .
Boot on settings about device would have some details .

funny, cause my box has the region and firmware
I live in Australia. I have bought 5 of these little buggers for me, family and friends(N8000). None of them have the software version on the outside of the box....
The best you get is an IMEI number and a barcode number...
Double checked and only indication is GT_N8010 bought via retailer not a phone vendor .

Just checked mine, got a label on the side that is very different to the one shown above.
But it does state GT-N8000ZWAXSG - Not sure about the ZWA, but XSG is spot on for UAE
Mine has model number on it, I also live in Australia. I think it depends on the retailer and what they put on there barcode.

Does anyone know where I can get a SM-P905 (international version, NOT Verizon)?

I did some hunting on the web yesterday and I couldn't find anywhere to buy a SM-P905 tablet - the international version, not the Verizon version. I found one on eBay, but I was outbid. I even tried eBay.UK and eBay.ca, but no luck. It seems like you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Verizon tablet, but the international versions are like hen's teeth.
I prefer manufacturer refurbished or used, due to price. Anyone know where I can find one?

the Note Pro LTE version are the same, the only difference is software, their hardware is the same. I open the P907A from AT&T and P905V from Verizon, they look exactly the same inside. Other Note Pro P900 also is the same, the only difference is software customized for certain region, like UK version has more languages than US version, they are the same tablet. If I flashed firmware of UK to an US tablet, it will become an UK tablet. I used to flash Korean firmware to an US tablet when its firmware had some issue with bluetooth keyboard.
If you want your tablet has your native language, then just flash the firmware which has that language.
If you want to use different carriers, buy an unlocked one, I have unlocked Verizon which I can use with other carriers such as TMobile, AT&T, or Cricket.
Interesting Beut . . but are the carrier branded versions of the 905 sporting an unlocked bootloader such that custom recovery and custom ROMs can be flashed?
I would venture to guess that this is what the OP is looking for and why they specifically want the international version rather than a US carrier branded one.
Honest question - I have no idea if the bootloaders are still locked, I do recall discussion about the 905V having a locked bootloader at one time though.
Muzzy, you are correct. The fundamental difference between the Verizon P905 and the International carrier versions is the locked bootloader. Verizon has Samsung lock the bootloader. International carriers do not.
I understand what Beut is saying, and yes, the hardware is the same. But that doesn't matter when the software is locked down.
I am also looking for an international P905, I would be very thankful for any tips where to find it in Europe!

Flashing Official Firmware -- Version Confusion

I briefly had a US version of the XZ and flashed it with the UK firmware without giving this much thought. When my SG dual-sim showed up, I thought I'd flash it before setting it up, and noticed that there seems to be some inconsistency between versions.
At the moment, 39.0.A.1.250/R4B is the generic SG version, but I see that China is up to R9B and India is at R11B. So, it got me wondering what the designation meant, and if there's any reason for / against flashing an Indian ROM (for example).
I think the R stands for region. I freely changed between them personally. I think the differences are very minor. I know the kernels are the same. There might be different preinstalled languages.
Languages and bloatware differs. As I remember from Arc S times Indian version had less bloatware then Western ones.
Hmm... Hadn't considered they were region codes.
I may give the Indian one a shot. I was hoping for a possible modem update for signal improvement, but looks like that's not in the cards. Maybe it'll fix the strange behavior when adding a contact from recent calls on the Singapore firmware it shipped with.

Question Identifying ROM region and it's difference

Hey y'all. The title is self-explanatory.
I want to know how to identify which ROM region is installed on my GT Neo2. As well as comparing them to other region specific ROMs that are available for this device.
I'd also want to know if different ROM regions are interchangeable, or compatible with each other when flashed. It'll also help which region to use when spoofing (trying to get the Android 13 update).
Both the seller and it's product description (from where I bought mine) didn't specify which region I'm getting. And looking through the reviews, some are getting different wall adapters. UK, EU, and US plugs. Mine has the US plug.
