I have this phone and would like to play music when using the genius button. i can call people but I am not able to play music. On the MyTouch 4G Slide you can but on this phone it doesn't work. Any ideas how I can make it work or what Rom I would need to install to make it work thank you!

Hi there.
I've been using the forum for a while now, but never felt the need to ask something, nor to respond (as I'm a noob).
But today I was going to ask a question in the developers forum, I receive a message saying I first have to post 10 messages.
From then on I can't perform searches any more.
Is that right or have I done something wrong?

You did not do anything wrong really. Maybe close your browser and re open it or do a restart and see if you still can not use the search function. The ten post thing is a rulle to try and keep the devwlopment forums clean. Next time you have a question post it here in the general or the Q&A forums. If you continue to have trouble with the search function cantact q admi.istrator or moderator.

Hi,
The search function has been down all day.
I never realized how much I used it,until it disappeared.
Ok them. I guess I basically surf the forum via the search, so I'm missing it too much. But if the feature is down for everyone I'll have to try again later.

When you hit search, if nothing comes up, just hit F5. Works like a charm, every single time
Some of you have probably seen this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224 which allows for the install of google now with an addon voice search for google now app. The Voice search app does not input text into the google now app as it is supposed to. I was wondering if anyone else tried this for their galaxy s3 (verizon) and had it successfully work with the voice search for google now app function possibly?

I didn't see a specific Q&A for just the Verizon GS3 and this is a very current android development topic that I could use help with instead of you wasting time with a pointless comment. It would make sense to either answer the question, or direct me to a more relevant thread to post this, or simply not read the thread.

We don't have a specific Q&A because there is too much overlap with the SGS from other carriers.

Since this isn't JUST for the verizon phone... maybe you should try the SIII main Q&A, where you will get more answers than from a specific forum with less than 20 topics...
If mod wants to move this to Q&A then thats not a big deal, it can be moved.
I have followed the directions in that post on my vzw gs3 and it does work as expected. Add the 3rd party Search App widget to your homescreen and click that when you want to search. It inputs then text to google now but then you need to press enter in order for it to execute.
If it doesnt work then try reinstalling maybe?
I didn't know if it had anything to do with the locked bootloader but I will also post there then. thanks.
side note: if any of u try the Google now method on your s3 tell me if it works for u,thanks
It worked fine for me by following the directions. Make sure you are renaming the apps properly and setting permissions.
I believe this should be posted in Themes & Apps but that's just me.

the widget and then app work perfectly, its the "voice search for Google now app" that doesn't input the text into Google now for me for some reason

Hi guys. I have an S5660 phone I just installed Aurora ROM v2 from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858633. It is a great operating system but i encountered 2 problems:
1. I do not know how to disable vibration on buttons below the screen, the menu and back button.
2. MP3 player plays songs jerky, small pauses are heard in audition song.
Can anyone help me in this problems?

Just find out in your phone there is any option like
"Vibrate on key press" if yes than unchecked it
In some emulator this option is available but don't know exact location of this option...

Trust me, i've tried every option from Settings... Nothing about vibration... I think this is sticky option, but is not a nice option.
I think that MatZ69 will see this, to help me.
In all probability, he won't see this post...
You can try searching the rom thread for the solution...if that doesn't yield any good, do search around the general and q&a section of galaxy gio (which is your phone)...
If you still don't find any solutions, ask it in g-gio's q&a section...you'll have a better chance of getting your desired answer, since most of the rom users would be present in that section, than over here...

I think that is hard coded in the OS that if a call comes in it stops any other app until you take or decline the incoming call. As far as I can tell NO such apps. You could ask some of the Devs if that is possible to achieve,but I haven't even heard of anyone else mentioning such a thing in my 2 years with android.
It would be nice to even have app that does a internet call like tango and talk does, without video, but with the ability to mix sound sources

I dont remember any app that I have seen that did that. The permissions for most music apps ask for phone state for the ability to check if you are on a phone call or not.

I've been trying to find a way to do this but I can't find a way, but figured maybe I'm missing something. Is there a way to disable Google's "Hover" notifications in Lollipop? They are pretty annoying when I'm playing games, or when singer one is using my phone they see my conversations.
Edit: just realized I posted this in the wrong section. If a Dev could please move this to Q&A.

For now its a built in feature with no option to disable. Im currently waiting for this myself so Google can either bring back the notification ticker, or someone can implement it in their ROM.
I think all sort of questions are asked here in XDA. You can go & assume to think that such question may not be asked by anyone & bham! You find it in the q&a section or somewhere else.
