double space for period gone after 2.3 update - T-Mobile LG G2x

I had a nexus one before my G2x. If I recall correctly, the stock 2.3 keyboard had the double-space-for-period function. It is missing on my phone, and it's not in the settings.
Has this issue been addressed? I did a search on the web and couldn't find anything on it.

I had the same issue but someone said they got the OTA (from T-mobile) not LG and they still had it. Either there's something weird going on or the version being sent OTA is slightly different than the one LG had on it's tool.

That can't be the issue, mine came at 1am last night OTA (T-mo). It's amazing how frustrating it is without this feature. I got the Swiftkey X from Amazon when it was free but so far it's sluggy and buggy on the G2x.

Have you checked the settings?

As I said in the original post, there is no setting. Unless it's somewhere other than keyboard settings.
I've attached my settings page.
I'm gonna feel like a real idiot if I'm misreading something

I don't really like the new keyboard, the space bar is too short now and I end up pressing the period button between most words instead of space

i have the same issue.

There is an option. You can use Steven Lin's Android GB keyboard. There's a free version on the market. It is very similar to the one on the GB update. http://moooom.dyndns.info/

LOL I press the damn period button like every third word. I agree the space bar is way too short.

Just an update:
-I did a factory reset, did not help
-LG didn't help
-Contacted T-mo, they are looking into it

Just checked my stock nexus one and it doesn't have the option either and there is no double space period.

Android Market: Gingerbread keyboard. That will fix everything.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App

I'm using Xboarder's Rom 2.3.3 and it has the period after double space. Link is in my signature. Also, you can choose to not include the voice Mic in settings which makes the spacebar slightly bigger. If your not rooted, then I would use Stevin Lin's Android GB Keyboard or Smart keyboard from the market.

The keyboard is nice...
But that Spacebar... it sucks!!!!

I just noticed this issue today after installing eagle's blood 1.6. I have always had the double space period on my keyboard and was really confused. Guess I will go back to swiftkey X...

Why does the G2x show the previous screen before the lock screen?

no, i am not new here, just had to change username.
yes, i have check EVERYWHERE for a solution to this problem.
Basically my g2x will show the previous screen i was o before it will show the lock patter screen. Say im on the facebook, and i lock my device, if i come back to it and unlock the device, for like 2 seconds it will show what ever page i was on last on facebook THEN go to the lock pattern screen.
is there anyway to fix this?
My Device:
G2x
gingerbread 2.3
not rooted (4 days old)
Came stocked with gingerbread 2.3
has being doing this since unboxed
Haven't had this issue since moving over to CM7...
Known issue no fix, other than trying a different rom. What really sux if you tap before the lockscreen comes up you fan bypass the lockscreen. Doesn't always work.I'm still on froyo, gb ....not impressed.

Its because the lockscreen is an app and sometimes it lags to start up when you unlock your phone.
I thought it was part of the phones software.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I think it is because the GPU is turned off to save battery and the graphics ram is not being updated. The lag is the GPU starting back up. That screen is like a ghost image. I don't believe anyone who says they can click on an icon before the lockscreen comes up and bypass it. I would have to see a video to believe that.
Happens to me too. EB 1.07. Also, sometimes when I press the power button the lockscreen is bypassed. This happens once in a while.

Screen capture with gingerbread?

I'm running the de bloated ep4d that was recently released. I need to take a screen capture for work right now. I tried searching the forum but the xda app search is a bit limited and I need this within the next hour if possible. Is there a quick method to take screen captures on my rooted phone? Appreciate all your help, really. I'm out in the field and can't reach a desktop or laptop anytime soon.

On the new OTA build I can't manage to screen capture the notification shade anymore because the stupid animation makes the phone lag and it doesn't cap before the shade has gone away. This is a problem when using the stock capture method. (Sorry for hijacking your thread but this is a relevant issue depending on what you are trying to screen cap.)

[APP] SwiftKey 3 Beta

Has anyone tried out the Beta of the keyboard? I just downloaded it and I have to say, i've never typed faster (although I've only typed out one Twitter post with it and nothing else).
I'll leave my impressions of it after i use it more!
The beta is awesome! I keep trying to put in question marks but keep forgetting that they combined question/exclamation/period to 1 key now .
I am thoroughly enjoying the larger spacebar. I don't miss now.
I always had a problem with SwiftKey X and hitting "b" onstead of the space bar but that problem is gone now. I'd like to see a then engine implemented though, as well as a comme button instead of the SwiftKey Settings button.
And i dont't know what it is about SwiftKey and I but it never seems to autocorrect for me. It's not that it corrects improperly, it just doesn't do it.

From what I can see it doenst autocorrect but does give the option to select the proper word. If its not doing that re-run the setup and choose to have it use autocorrect instead of you selecting the corrected word.
I just picked rapid instead of precision and it auto corrects for me.

Miss some old features
I really miss having dedicated push and hold comma and exclamation keys. Speed up some areas and slow down others. With press and hold delay set really low I could fly on the old version. Also still pretty laggy on ics. I am going to try task650 AOKP latest release to see if there is any lag improvement because it is bad enough right now to have me looking at alternatives...
Oh, and it appears that 'long press duration' is no longer an available option. Hopefully it will get added back after beta.

Well I am happy to report that with the new beta, comma IS back, and I love the location, long press duration has improved speed of accessing secondary characters, and lag has been GREATLY minimized on ICS. So far even the beta is a keeper! Oh, and no more double and triple back swipes to delete a word. That was driving me crazy...

Ive gotta say, the previous release was a lot better than this one for me. I feel as though my typing is less accurate than it was before, and i feel as though the dedicated comma is slightly unnecessary. Also, the update seems to have broken my autocorrections

Try changing from rapid to precise or vice versa. Strangely in they seemed to work opposite for me. Rapid in the old version feels like precise in the new one. I switched to the old version after a rom upgrade over the weekend and forgot how fast it was. I am still waiting for the new version to come out of beta. The swipe punctuation is a bad step IMO.

Has anyone figured out what causes the keyboard to stop working in messaging?
I can hit the first letter, and the keyboard will bring up predictions for what I press, but it won't enter any text into the field.
To fix it, I have to back out of the conversation and return to it to be able to type again.
It does it with all keyboards, too.
I can't exactly figure out what causes it to stop working. Before I thought it was locking the phone in the middle of typing, because it would sometimes be unresponsive after unlocking, but I've also had it be fine after unlocking, and I've also had it stop responding in the middle of me typing.
That's the only issue I've had with AKOP, apart from the wifi toggling thing, but that's a well-known bug.

I have been getting a little less battery life with ics...but nothing shocking. I get anywhere from 10 to 16 hours...but that is the same I have been getting with gb...even froyo. I do a lot of reading and listening to the radio...and I always have a charger near by for those occasions when the battery gulps instead of sips.
OK, maybe a dumb question. Coming from GB Roms, I am use to "My Files". On this ROM where do I find something that works the same, or what is the format?
