Dear creator(s),
Would it be possible to add a number of new email on the email's icon? For example, I used to have an iphone and every time i have new email, there's always a number on the email's icon. However, Samsung infuse 4g doesn't.
Please add that feature on.
Thank you

There are widgets to do this on the launcher. I don't believe it's possible to do it for the icons on the notification bar. It may also be possible to do it on the lockscreen - I'm not very familiar with lockscreen mods though.
do you know the name of the widgets?
ADWNotifier and and k-9 mail work for me.
also TWlauncher that comes with infused 1.5.3 has badges for email and messaging
Also although I do sometimes find my self in awe of how good they make my phone, they are still only devs, not gods

I am wondering if anyone has or is able to develop a new lockscreen idea. One of the greatest things in Android is the drop down notification window. It has everything on there that you need to know. All the missed calls, texts, etc., that we all add to our lockscreens. Why can't the notification window be the lockscreen? Turn off the phone and the notification window drops, so when I turn it back on that is what I see - still clickable (with the option to turn off the clicks) and the way to unlock is to raise the notfication window back up.
Anyone?
Notification screen doesn't show me my upcoming calendar events, my current 'top priority" note, my return to owner note, the weather forecast for the next 5 days, etc, etc....
Widget Locker FTW.

Just buy widget locker, you won't regret it at all.

i agree would be kinda cool
I have used widgetlocker and it is not what I want. Was looking to have the idea in here. Thanks for the suggestions though.

i see what you mean.... but i think it shouldn't be clickable unless you swipe on it (sort of like the contacts in the Galaxy S)..this prevents accidents...
i would love to make a mock up of this... cuz i think this is a neat idea... i'll try to do something when i get the chance...

Thank you, I appreciate the effort! I agree that the click-able idea is something that could lead to issues, which I counter with making it optional. I really like the swipe idea though! Even better!
That's actually a pretty awesome idea I would like to see something like this also
any way to incorporate minimalistic text with sms unread or to make the app missed it to open applications
I like missed it a lot however i don't like how it's not able to be clicked. like i have minimalistic text set up on my homescreen to read messages and when i click on it, it goes to messages obviously
but anyway to add it so unread bubble is over minimalistic text or a way to make missed it clickable. i see they have a setting for applications but don't know how to use that
i've created photoshop icons that say messages, however for the unread count widget, it's the one size and that's too small for me so looking for any way to do this if at all possible
Not to my knowledge. Ofcourse I've only been playing with them for about a week each. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help ya. Took me forever to get the Minimalistic widget set up, lol.
yeah there's so much that app can do, and missed it app is very similar just wish it could open an application like minimalistic can do
and sms unread does open the app, just doesn't look nearly as good as the other two apps
hmm, there's got to be a way but yeah, i'm hooked to minimalistic text

I know this is already and old-ish thread, but if you're still looking to do this: I think LauncherPro allows you to stack widgets.. So you might be able to put an empty MinimalisticText widget (no background and link to the application) over the MissedIt! widget.
I haven't really tried LauncherPro though, only read about it.. So I may be wrong, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it can stack widgets. I can't find the exact link now, but I think it was something posted in the Post your Screenshots thread.
Edit: Uh.. I just bought Missed It! from the Market, and there's an option in the settings to launch the application associated with any notification being shown (version 1.5.3), so it looks like you don't need to use MinimalisticText to create links. But anyway, guess that option is still there anyway.
You can get SMS unread (and about a million other things) in MTW using Tasker

Tasker looks cool, but in my local currency it costs R47.49 (ZAR) compared to MissedIt at R7.03. Pretty big price difference for simply displaying an unread notification count on your launcher home screen...
My Gmail is`nt working with Missed It, I have the account added or what not but when e-mails come in, it does`nt show on Missed It, any ideas?
So Im loving this phone just like everyone else but im curiouse if it is possible to have the number of missed text and stuff on my lockscreen while i have security on such as the pattern feature? Or does it have to be on swipe in order for me to see any of this?
bump
Use goSMS pro. You can customize it to act like an iPhone whenever someone texts you, it will show up in your screen without unlocking.

Really now? is it possible to get a screen shot of an example of this? haha just because im kind of married right now to the stock messaging app but that little detail you just mentioned might make me switch
Android 4.0 allows you to access the drop-down notification bar from the lockscreen. I'm not sure if it works when there's a password, though.
I don't have access to my phone for the next week, so I can't exactly test it for you, either.
EDIT:
So I looked up the issue a bit more, and found this old thread from last year talking about the GoSMS Pro lockscreen pop-up notifications:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231142
For some people it worked, but for others, it didn't. I suggest you give it a quick read.
Try DashClock of you are on 4.2 - looks great and does exactly what I need!
Search it up on Google Play, I cant post links yet

Hey all I've been on Android for a little under a year now and if there's one thing I don't like, it's been the e-mail experience. I can't find any mail app outside of the ridiculously priced Maildroid Pro that has what I'm looking for (and I don't even think what I'm looking for is unreasonable!).
Here's what I'm looking for in a mail app:
- Non-ugly icon (I'm looking at you K-9)
- Clean interface
- Support for both Hotmail and GMail with no issues and push notification (Evomail)
- Loads all images in e-mails by default, or at least with the option to turn this feature on (a lot of apps don't)
- Has an informative widget that displays the subject and brief bit of the body in it (SolMail has a useless widget that displays too little info and Evomail has NO widget unbelievably)
I'd be perfectly happy with the default Mail and GMail app (either or) on my Nexus 4 if it wasn't for the fact that neither of them display images automatically, and I have to click on "show all images" all the time. It's annoying. I'm not sure why all this is so difficult, especially when I had no problems with e-mail when I was on iOS. Is there anything anyone can recommend?

I saw that, but it doesn't help with my Hotmail account, and I want it all with one app. Any other recommendations?
In that case, I join your question, my main account is hotmail also, lol

It seemed so, until I noticed that my Hotmail doesn't get pushed properly. I need both. Or am I not choosing certain settings correctly?

I am not having issues with my hotmail getting pushed.... It might be something to do with the settings being used.I am using pop3.live.com on port 995.
Don't know if this will help. I think I also had to make a change in the hotmail settings also but can't remember where that was sorry.

When I changed the IMAP server settings to read pop3.live.com, and port 995, it couldn't connect to the server?

You may need to look up the other settings required. I know there are more but that was all I could remember off the top of my head. I don't have my tablet here to check sorry.

Hi, as a SolMail Team, we want to improve the widget for you~ So, what's your opinion of perfect size of widget (with subject and brief bit of the body)? 1x1 or 4x2 is a little bit small, isn't it? Thanks for your opinion!

The default Mail and GMail app's style of widget is all I need. Subject, brief lines of body, done. The lines of the body should be changeable by the user. I actually use 5 rows of icons with Nova Launcher and would prefer 5x4, but as long as it's resizable just like the stock app I'm fine with it.

oops, sorry for late update.
We added resizable and scrollable widget on SolMail.(actually it's 2.0 update on May). It can be extended to the tablet size!
Thank you for your valuable suggestion.
I'm using Cloudmagic now, so far I have liked it. The only downside for you could be that the widget is quite simplistic. Anyway for me it works because I usually use the notification area to peek at new mails.
Oh and is really beautiful.

is there any way or app that can categorized notification in status bar? for example mail only got 1 notification but have number depend on how many new mail come, and so the rest app.
i usually miss important notification because so many notification and it stack by another notification

You can use an app called "sms unread counter". It only applies to icons on your homescreen. It works for calls, sms, and emails. As far as I know there is no way to do it in the pull down bar just with icons on the screen.

If I'm not mistaken Android kind of does this on it's own. I know if I get an email in my status it shows the notification. Then in that notification it can say +5 more emails. Then I can drag down on that notification to see the other emails without fully opening them.
You could try the app floatify to see of that will help you.
Yeah, through the same app the notification should not create a new notification but instead increase the number on an already existing notification.

hi Lokke. thx for reply
unfortunately calls, and sms is what i barely use. in other hand, such email, bbm, twitter, chat group is what i mostly use, and sometimes in group chat or community chat (bbm, line, whatsapp, and else) new chat just for new information about whats going on if that case i just slide to close notification. but sometimes also new important information come, and i barely see it because it stack with another notification

hi lolcakes, thx for reply.
thats what i thought, and i'm pretty sure if notification only per app not per new notification, it will come in handy.

on the other case if there is really no app or way to do it, i think this will be bring new idea for developer to make such thing like this, is not like iam demanding, commanding, or asking for the developer to made it, but consider it as an opportunity to make small step for android, because for me it will be usefull, and i hope for the rest who own an android devices. i mean come on guy, is android, free to do whatever it suite you, the problem is i even dont know where to start. lol
cheers :good:
