hello pals ,i have an O2 xda zinc & i think its a nice phone... it was working fine but recently the problem had developed that it turns off on its own when the
battery is at 50% & it wont turn on unless i connect it with the charger & the phone will only run normally if the battery status is above 50 %
i had updated it to wm6 latest rom but its the same ....moreover i cant replace the unit or send it for service coz i had bought it from grey market for a hefty amount & I NEVER KNEW IT WASNT A HTC DEVICE ...
I FEEL THAT I M STUCK. PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ HELP ME
Try a New Battery
Have you tried a new battery? Although you may think its getting a full charge maybe you got a bad or refurbished battery try that first.

have you tried reflashing? to clean out anything that may be jacked up?
what have you recently changed? i think i would definitely try flashing a clean rom and see what happens there (back-up first of course in case it doesnt help and you want to flash back and get all your stuff back)

wow then, well...im sorry to say, but you're probably out of luck. if you have tried replacing the hardware as well as the software, then there must be some sort of problem with the battery connection or some other internal issue...something you wouldn't likely be able to fix.
sorry, good luck.
UMM i guess i m stucked .. can any one plzz gimme some idea whats wrong with my ppc
I sense that you might be desperate for ideas....
I've had some odd battery problems, too, and what seems to help me the most is to drain the battery entirely, or at least very, very close to it, and then recharge it without interruption completely.
AEBPlus has a "disable "power off" if not used function that might keep it powered up while you drain it, or might, on an outside chance, even solve your problem.
It almost sounds as if the unit is telling you the batttery is at 50%, but really it's just about drained. It could be there's something set somewhere to have it power off at 50% rather than 0-5% like usual, but the former sounds more likely to me. You might want to check to see what sort of time/usage other units like yours get out of a battery-full. Maybe just reading your numbers differently (50=0, 75=50 etc.) is the way to go.
Ok, I've been having this problem, ever since I first wiped my batt stats. I've never had this problem with any other phone, and I've had a few, evo, G2, mytouch and so on... well, the phone wont sleep when its plugged in, it sleeps like normal unplugged.... dunno what the heck it is... ive flashed every rom just about, and every one has yet to fix it. I've searched... asked... and nothing....
also, I wipe everything on any new rom, i've redone wiping the batt stats. ive used the app. and No, stay awake is unchecked in settings. Could it just be the phone?

Did you have this problem when it was stock?

Are you restoring any system data after flash?
No, I did not have this problem when it was stock. But im pretty sure i didnt have the problem after i rooted, only untill i wiped the batt stats. I didnt go through the whole process, normaly you charge to 100% wipe the stats, then drain to 0% and recharge with no hick-ups. Well, i charged it, wiped stats, drained it, then only charged to like 40% before i had to unplug it, then i noticed when i got back home and started charging again it was doing this. And havent fixed it since. Thanks for responding.
And no. I do full wipes and manual app loading , i completely redo the whole rom each time, sometimes ill wipe manualy
format-sys
Format-data
Etc.
Sometimes 3 times.

Well, I've wiped my battery stats, and many others have too, and this problem doesn't happen, so unless you somehow wiped something other than the actual .bin file, I think that may be coincidental. I've never drained my phone to 0%, so I guess my battery calibration attempt wasn't a pure one either, so I don't think that would have anything to do with it.
It sounds like you aren't a rookie when it comes to flashing, so, I personally don't know what else it could be.
Only thing I would possibly do, if I were in your shoes, is try flashing back to stock, if you haven't tried that already. I don't know if that would be any more effective than trying any other alternative roms, like you've been doing, but...
Hopefully somebody else can give you some better ideas...
Well thatnks for thinkin with me anyway, im all out of ideas, i dont see how flashing to stock would fix it, unless something went wrong during bubbys method, i might try re-rooting again, it wouldnt even be a big deal if it didnt take 4 hours to charge rather than 1&1/2hr. Well we will see what happens i guess.... Thanks for tryin though

No problem.
Just remember, you said you didn't have this problem when it was stock. The only way to put your mind at ease, if you're out of ideas, is to get it back to PURE stock, the way it was when it was problem free.
Then, if it still does it, you'll know it's something with the phone itself.

I guess I see what your sayin, isnt there an RUU that I can run, plug in my phone and flash it back to stock?
cus this is just kinda weak, I also have wifi problems, only with AOSP roms, any sense roms do just fine, ive tryed radios, apn settings, etc..
thanks though.

Yes. There's a link to it in the stickied guide in the general section.
Or you can download bubbys simple root program, run it so the program extracts its temporary files, find that temp directory, pull the PD98IMG.zip out of that directory, get it to the root of your SD card, and flash that through hboot. This is not pure, pure stock, because its rooted and all, but I can tell you it behaves identically, aside from being rooted, to how my phone did when it was bone stock.
Though getting the RUU in the stickied guide might be quicker, I've just never used it personally, and I grabbed the stock image via the bubby method above for myself, just in case... Haven't had to use it yet, but its nice to have.
well, I downloaded bubbys one click again, I could not for the life of me fine that pdimg, so i went ahead and re-rooted, still no luck, same thing different day, i dunno what to do, starting to think about calling the warranty center... thanks for all the help though, it was worth a shot.

You have to run it so it will extract it's files, then search for PD98IMG.zip on your computer, it should find it.
Well, if you go the warranty route, just make sure to put it back to stock and s-On, first.
Forget it.............
I have posted/whined about my battery drain and inability to fully charge past 85% in the past, but now I have realized that it might be something else, not the batteries!
I have tried 3 different batteries and no matter which one i use, the phone still won't charge past 85! How is that even possible?? I've tried resetting battery stats every time when I'm at max of 85% (since I can't get to 100%) and it doesn't help.
Is there any manual way of force clearing ALL battery related stats/resources so that I can fix this phone?
I'm currently using a stock ROM Rogers 20C although my charging issue has been there through all ROMS available.

I would say it's a hardware problem.
Your voltages don't seem to be high enough to charge to 100%.
thanks for your reply man.
You know what, I wondered about that... I never had an issue until i started flashing all kinds of different Kernals. Maybe something stuck and can't be undone! lol.
I guess I'm out of luck because i'm clearly over the 1 year warranty period.

Hmm. Why don't you try flashing a froyo ROM?
you know... thats not a bad idea. although I cringe at the thought of going back to Froyo on this thing lol.
what version is the last most stable Froyo? do you know? I'm not even sure...

They were all better than most gingerbread ROMs lol.
Is there any reason why this would happen?
Another one here experiencing the same issue
Another one here experiencing the same issue.
It didn't happen to my device until I upgraded to 4.0.4 Android and HTC Sense 4.1 (Spanish Orange network HTC One S version 2.38.75.4).
When it switch on while on a pocket it is very annoying as the phone "tries" to make an emergency call.

Only detected after a firmware update? I don't think so.
I was flashing the new Viper on my nieces phone and didn't quite get everything set up the way she likes it before she had to go home so I had to restore her nandroid of Viper ICS and now she is texting me telling me she is having this issue. Can anyone tell me if they ever had this issue and resolved it and if so i guess i might resolve it when i see her next weekend by reflashing the ROM? Or is it a serious issue or maybe one she can resolve? thanks for any info pertaining to this, my niece is quite picky and i am sure any of us crackflashers here know what it is like when you promise a woman the best for her phone then screw it up for her, never hear the end of it! lol. thanks for any help!

All i can really think of is that in the viper rom you have the option under tweaks to let the screen turn on when a message arrives. Mine used to do the same thing every once in a while but it was somehow connected to my data connectivity jumping all over the place so i re-flashed and wiped caches which did the trick.
Hope you get the problem resolved for your nieces sake!
I'm having the same issue with my Evo LTE
The same problem with SGS2 / ICS 4.0.3. Any idea how to fix that please ? It is VERY annoying, cuz it drains my battery !!!

In my original post I was talking to the OP.
It's not a software problem on the One S, look at everyone else with the same problem.

If there are still people with this kind of issue,
I would recommend to check for "wakelock" usage.
As third-party apps can use "wakelock" to turn on the screen, there might be some buggy app which is using the feature improperly.
I had the same case before, turned out that "Naver Mail" app was using Screen wakelock to turn the screen on randomly.
As a solution, there is an app in Google Play called "Wakelock detector" which has a feature to show statistics of Screen wakelocks.
GooD luck
Random Screen On caused by faulty power adapter
I changed my power adapter for charging, and the problem went away immediately. I assume it was the result of either drawing too much power, or not enough to charge the phone. Anyway, there you go. Hope it helps! :silly:
