Horrible GPS. Any tips? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I'm running Infused 1.5.3 and I an having trouble with GPS accuracy. It often never finds a lock inside or out. Any help would be appreciated because at this point it is worthless.
Sent from my Infuse

I second this. I'm running stock rooted with original radio. GPS has been great since I got this phone almost 2 months ago. It has just went to being almost completely worthless. Never locking below 50m standing outside.

Wifi drain fix

So I've been flashing a bunch of different roms and have found a combo that I love... But have noticed that my battery life decreases much more with wifi on...
If I turn off wifi..the phone can last 30+ hours of use..if I have wifi turned on...maybe 8 hours
I seem to remember in the post people talking about a wifi drain fix.. I can't find anything on it though...
does anybody know of such a thing?

i beleive you need a newer wpa_supplicant file...
Any chance there is one hanging out on these boards anywhere?

i think yes, or just grab it from another rom... for example Andromeda
Right on! Cool

I have perfect gps

This was the last thing I was expecting from this phone. Did they finally fix it or am I an anomaly?

i dont know about fixing it because this is my first android phone but it works well for me too
today, I tried it out for the first time.. and omfg. it was fine for about 3 seconds, then it started jumping around on the map like I was teleporting or something.

That's what samsung gps usually does and what my gf's captivate always did. That was the reason I got her the inspire.

gps has been working perfectly for me since out of the box
I can't complain. Mine has always been perfect.
Same here. Never had a gps issue. Even at street level. Must have been fixed with the first ota maybe?

I get 15 sec cold locks with 9ft. accuracy all the way down to 4ft. after a min or so. my vibrant takes 45sec to lock with 20-40ft accuracy. (and thats with gps mods). id say they fixed it.

I agree. GPS was always my biggest reservation with Samsung phones. That and lack of a stable cm7.
When cm7 finally comes out for this phone I might sell my mt4g.

[Q] No signal

For the past couple of days around the same time 10pm I have lost my signal and it doesn't reappear until the morning, or at least that's what happened this morning. I'm running Apex 10 and the 5.1.2 of Talon. It's very frustrating because I can't use the damn thing as a phone and I'm not even sure if the signal will come back. This just randomly started happening what could be the problem??
Thanks

Its a ported rom. Get one of captivate leaks.

Tower maintenance?
The last time I saw that on my phone was when at&t was back hauling a tower. I'd give them a call and see

Thanks, the fact that Apex is an i9000 rom seemed to be the problem, because my signal went out again tonight. I flashed Fasty III to my phone and magically I had a phone signal! Thanks again, really appreciate it!

GPS doesn't play nice

First post in this forum, coming from both HTC Desire HD and Motorola Defy forums.
Just got a Atrix 2 from the market place and I like it. I was having issues with reception on my HTC phones in my basement. Someone suggested I try a Motorola because of they get great reception. I bought a Defy and sure enough 15 -20 dbMs better in my basement.
I just couldn't get use to the smaller screen on the defy so I picked up this phone to try it out.
My issue is that the GPS works, no issues with maps, nav or GPS status and tools. However, faster fix and my golfing app won't work? Faster fix just sits there with a white screen and my golfing GPS app tells me that my settings for the GPS are wrong?
Anyone else with these issues? I have my phone rooted but haven't flashed any new roms yet.
Thanks in advance.
Wow, over 200 views and no response! Am I the only one with this issue?
Would be nice to know if flashing a different rom solved this issue as I'm still on the original. I thought I would wait a couple of weeks before I started flashing again as it's been a nice break, lol.
I am having the exact same issues but with my jogging apps. None of them can get a location for me.

Nope.. my GPS is perfect... actually so good that when I zoom to maximum and walk around my apartment it shows accurate movement... I mean accuracy is within 3 to 4 metres... and ya.. usually fixes within a few seconds.. I m running rooted stock Indian rom...

GPS lock

I cannot get a GPS lock on any rom that I've tried. Scott's, butter and jelly, paranoid android. I've tried using GPS test to clear the settings and no matter what I Cannot get a lock. Maybe the gps is defective on my phone.

are you using the newest radios and rpm file and newest vzw leak?? with that combo, I get an, almost, instant lock.
I always have issues too I just tried this app
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app and it ran for a while and it seems to have fixed my GPS now. Although every time I get it fixed its only a matter of days before it breaks again https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidlab.gpsfix

Thank you so much. On my gs3, stock I couldn't even get a gps lock until I installed this app. Took about 2-3 mins to fix it and then bam. Got a gps lock. Thanks a bunch for the tip. It worked.

Flashing back to stock generally works as well. Just flash back, get a fix, then flash your Rom again

Flashed latest radios. Seems a bit ridiculous to have to flash back to stock, does not make a whole lot of sense. Will give the app a go then revert to stock I guess.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
My experience with GPS has been that its completely random. Somehow I feel that if I leave GPS on it tends to get locks quicker, but honestly its a crap shoot.
