[Q] Time for a new router - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Question for everyone. It is time for me to replace my wireless router. It has served me well for the last 6 years but now it seems to drop connections 4 times a day. I want to move up to the Wireless N platform and having read through the Xoom and TF threads regarding this, I would ask for comments or recommendations. I like Cisco/Linksys products so which one would you choose? TIA

I'm not pretty sure of it, but I remember seeing the wifi N isn't supported on TF (In general section)

My bad, it was in Q/A section just few posts below :

Thanks Bud,
I chose the Cisco/Linksys E3200 dual band N router. (2.4GhZ/5GhZ) All my devices connect fine and my speed has improved dramatically! Thanks for your input.

No Seperation between Wifi and 3G units?

so i plan on getting my gf the samsung galaxy tab 2 7" model
but there is 5 pages of post here, and looks like there is a mix of just wifi units and wifi/3g units so why is there no thread separation, like you get in alot of other sections, hell even some sections have separation of carrier if the radios for the carries are different
it just a little hard to get through all of them, especially when i'm just looking for the wifi models and then i look at a something someone made and its not for the model i'm getting for her
is there any plans on making a separation for the wifi only and the wifi/3g units or no?
I agree, I think they should be separated also. Although the 3113 CAN use 3100 roms, and I believe there are other variations of compatibility. It can still be cumbersome scrolling through incompatible roms.

Doubt any plans to separate. One request for you tho, please don't post question threads in the dev forum. Post question threads in the questions forum. Thx.

Call me old fashioned but I tend to use the forum search engine for navigation and simple question finding. If you had done that , then you would work out that most ROMS are getting merged.Such as 3110/3113 are exactly the same thing and devs are making builds universal now ( see CM10 for an example) In fact you can use any 31xx on any 31xx device (But don't expect a Phone ROM to work on a Wifi only ROM as its hardware not software that makes it ring)
Its ironic that you post about too many threads in the development forum , then post in it asking a question lol. To be honest we are hardly flush with ROMs to choose from in this forum ( No disrespect to any dev intended, just stating a fact)
You are old fashioned

Questions should be posted in Q&A forums, not Development forums.

Thread moved.
yes i am aware this should of been posted in the Q&A section and slap my hands for it
but i felt after 5 pages of threads some house keeping should of went in place and some sort of separation should of went in
but i also know this kind of question gets ignored in the Q&A section till everyone starts complaining about it
and by that point the house keeping for it gets, well undesirable to be fixed
beyond this time i have behaved and put my questions in the Q&A section unless it was part of the original thread it was in
yes i did use the search engine and that is how i found my first few relevant post, but after the first few that is when i go to the begin of the tree
and then see if there is separation so i'm not going through each search result of not need to look at info
and with what you stating with cross compatible roms, that just means you would have a section for none cross for each in general and the section for cross compatible roms as you point out that its the hardware series in general that makes it possible
but now the major question remains on when or if i will be able to get ahold of one, as most of the places i turn to for my electronics are out of stock of the units, but time will tell

New Android Smatphone for £350 ($580) or under

Hey guys, First I am going to apologize if this is in the wrong place, It's been a while since I was on XDA But I thought this was the most appropriate place to post a topic like this.
Anyway, I am due for an upgrade and well lets just say the options that my carrier are providing me are not great and after some researching, I came to the conclusion that changing networks and getting a sim only contract and buying a phone separately would be the cheapest option. I have found the perfect tariff but even after weeks of research, I am still stumped on which phone to buy, so, I have turned to the XDA community to ask What is the best android smartphone that I can buy for around £350 (that's about $580) or under?
There are a few conditions that I want the phone to meet: it must be 4G LTE capable and have a decent camera and a good battery life.
that's it! Thanks in advance to all who post! =)

[Completed] Need to Find Cellular (Voice) & Data Tablets

I've been trying to find a 10 inch (or so) Tablet, or Phablet, that has cell and data capabilities. Also, it seems that the cell companies, T-Mo, Att, etc.,
don't have a plan or will even provision one. I've seen a few on youtube and for sale at eBay and Amazon, but those are International units
and don't have 4g/LTE, and are pretty low spec.
I thought the Samsung Tab models came that way, but they don't. Is there a list or a thread that would help me?
Hi,
This thread is for just such inquiries...

Good luck!

That thread is 4 posts and 2 years old. It appears to be for those trying to decide what to buy, I know what I want, I just can't find it or any information on them.
Thanks anyways.
That thread has over 10000 posts and is very current and active. And it's a great place to ask for what you are looking for.
Otherwise, perhaps a Google search? There's hundreds of devices on XDA... You can look through the sections, but I'm sure you will get suggested devices quicker in the thread I linked. ?
My apologies. I just clicked it again, and you're correct. I don't know why it only loaded 4 posts the last time. But, I do apologize.

Don't sweat it! And I'm sure you'll find help there. Tho, where to buy may be tricky... As every region is different.

[Completed] need advice on a phone

I bought a quadcoptor recently which is designed to be used with a smart phone via 5.8ghz wifi in order to be able to see what the camera is pointed at. Unfortunately my current phone only has 2.4ghz wifi but Im fairly happy with it and Im not anxious to sign another contract with verizon so my question is this. Is there a phone that has 5.8ghz wifi on it that I could pick up from say ebay fairly cheap or will I end up spending enough money on it that I should just get something newer? Also what kind of range can I expect to get? the quad has a 100m range but Im pretty sure the wifi range will be a fair amount less than that.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
5.8ghz may have been chosen because of the range it can provide.
This will give you some background information on what to think about (depending on the route you go):
> General discussion > General > [GUIDE] Picking Out Your Next Device
The members that frequent in this thread will be happy to narrow down some choices based on your criteria:
> General discussion > Questions and Answers > **DEVICE SUGGESTION THREAD** -- Not sure what device to buy? Ask here!
For the latter link (well, for anything beyond starting threads in the Assist section), you will need an XDA account to post.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Which to buy?

Hi, I'm no stranger to rooting my android phones etc but have had an iPhone for a couple of years now and want to make the change back to Android. My question is which phone(s) do heavy rom'ers and rooters recommend to switch to at this present time? I would like a decent camera as the iphone has one and one that isn't known to drop GPS signal like the Samsung phones have had issues with in the past. Also pretty decent battery life would be nice. My main concern is the developer support with the already mentioned hardware advantages. I want to be able to change my phone to my liking and to be able to use wireless tethering (can't get fast internet where I live) so the most 3rd party developer support is my goal. It used to be that anything Nexus was the way to go for that but they didn't always come with quality hardware. So any recommendations would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
