[Q] Nexus S 4G Kernal - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I love my Nexus S 4G (rooted) exactly the way it is except for the battery life, is there a kernal that anyone can suggest that will resolve that and possibly an UC/OC as well (just bc im greedy)

Netarchy's 1.3.7/1.3.7
and its kernel not kernal
please look in dev forums before asking this. each kernel thread list its features

[Q] AOSP OC Kernel

Has anyone found a good overclocking kernel for VZW s3? I've been running the JellyBam ROM and have been using it for a daily driver (I love the combined settings). I've tried to use KT747's 4.2 kernels, but I've just been getting constant reboots. Does anyone have any other good kernels for an aosp rom?

BMS is great. Rock solid and you can overclock if you want.

Can anyone provide a link? I've been having a hard time finding these kernels online. Thank you guys for the help. I'm fairly new to custom ROMs and kernels and all of your help is well appreciated.
Just flashed BMS. Love the performance. Thank you for all of your help.

Installing Siyah kernel on jellybam 8.3.0?

Hey guys I'm just wondering if I get the latest siyah kernel on my phone if it would work. The jellybam stock kernel isn't the best battery life for my phone so would this kernel even help with this?

It is very important to read about the whatever it is you are about to flash and know more about your device. If you have read more into siyah you would know that it is an i9300 kernel which is the international S3 you have a i535 device which is the US S3. That kernel is optimized for the quad core processor that the i9300 has while all US versions of the Galaxy S 3 have a duo core processor. I am quite sure that wherever you got info on siyah mentioned what I just pointed out.
Thanks! That probably just saved my phone.... And it was just a thought because I asked my uncle what kernel he used and he said siyah so I didn't really even occur to me that not everything is universal... Do you know of any good kernels that would work on my device?
Well that depends on whether you have a Touchwiz or a AOSP rom. Pretty much all of them work like it suppose to. Since jellybam is an AOSP rom BMS works well.
Ok thanks... I didn't know whether jellybam was aosp or not and I didn't want to start blinding flashing kernels.. that cleared things up, thank you

[Q] kernel

hello community. i am trying to get my brothers skyrocket battery life to last a little longer. i flashed PAC 4.3, everything works great except his battery life is dropping pretty fast. i know sometimes kernels can help with this. Can anyone link me to a good kernel that supports 4.3 for skyrocket? i looked thru the forums but could not find one. any help is appreciated. and if this has been answered a long time ago, i apologize for the repeat.
thank you in advance
I would get better battery stats and see what is using the battery and eliminate as many as those as you can. A kernel is not going to make a big difference.
Edit, see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31974989
Sent from my Nexus 5
Some help for you

Well if you want a kernel for pac 4.3, here in the skyrocket forums I haven't seen any for pac, there is a just relaesed kernel for 4.4.2 called Moretz Kernal in the forums heres a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694688, that would require a 4.4.2 rom and the 4.4.2 pac rom might not work with it due the hybrid kernel it uses, I would backup the rom with either Titanuim back or somting or nandroid and go test a CM Monthly or one of the roms in the the forums for better batery, theres also this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2411161 to help cut down on the battery usage but remember to backup and read the first posts. Also the battery could be old and could contribute to the problem. Hoep this helps
